Losing a family member was one of the hardest experiences our family has ever faced, but King Fook…read moreFuneral Services made a deeply painful time feel a little more bearable. As this was our first time ever planning a funeral, we had no idea where to begin -- but from the moment we walked through their doors, we were met with compassion, patience, and professionalism. I want to give a very special mention to Joe, who was absolutely exceptional. He took the time to sit with our family and walk us through every step of the process with such care and clarity. What meant the most to us was how knowledgeable and respectful he was about our family member's Chinese Taoist beliefs and cultural traditions. He didn't just go through the motions -- he genuinely understood the significance of honoring their faith and guided us on exactly what we would need to do to carry out the proper Taoist practices and rituals. He made sure nothing was overlooked and that their wishes were respected in every way. Because of Joe and the entire team at King Fook Funeral Services, we were able to give our loved one a farewell that truly reflected who they were and the traditions they held dear. If you are looking for a funeral home that genuinely cares -- especially one that understands and honors Chinese cultural and religious traditions -- I cannot recommend King Fook Funeral Services highly enough. Thank you, Joe, from the bottom of our hearts.

The staff were exceptional from start to finish. A special thank you to Joe, who was outstanding. He was thoughtful, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to help our family. His calm presence and professionalism made a very challenging time much easier to navigate. During this very difficult time for our family, they were professional, compassionate, and incredibly supportive. They handled everything with discretion and care, and their experience was evident in the way Joe guided us through each step of the process. We had countless questions along the way, and Joe was always responsive, patient, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure we felt comfortable with every decision. We are deeply grateful for the care and respect they showed our family and highly recommend their services if needed.

Most recently Sylvia and Sharlene were great as we laid my Uncle to rest. They were both so kind and patient dealing with last minute requests. It made such a terrible situation a little bit easier.

They were in fact aged flowers picked off of someone else's left overs. They barely covered the container let alone the casket. I tipped the limo driver in advance as per her instructions and give her the money but he ended up asking for an additional tip in front of your family. She didn't offer the additional money back. Of course the driver denied it. The worst was desecrating my father's body. She used a person unfamiliar with working with clients of color. She tried to light me into thinking it was the church lighting. Black people know what we look like in church with makeup! We ended closing the coffin early because he looks so unrecognizable. She's used person of European descent who was older, he did not provide a haircut and gave his mustache a 70s cowboy look even though we provided a picture. Sylvia had a picture of my dad post cosmetics to "prove" the quality. I of course declined. Who wants to see their father with skin glue on his lips and eyelids. Blotchy make up. No caps underneath the eyelids so he appeared to be squinting. It was a horrible experience. She states the funeral home works with a Haitian community, but that was obviously wrong . As a healthcare provider I am aware that the deceased don't resemble themselves but family and friends didn't know who that was lying in state. This is not my first funeral but this was by far the worst. She will make all sorts of excuses and offer no apology. The experience made me lean towards cremation, no viewing,no funeral home for my own final affairs.

Side note, I am pretty sure it's free for solo people, but if you go with a large enough group, they have a $5 fee per person, which is reasonable. In general, I would recommend coming here in the fall, not just because the weather will be nicer, but also because the trees are beautiful, and winter is nice as well, due to the frozen lake, among other things. The spring is nice as well, but there are better places to see leaves in bloom, as there are more wintery shrubs here. The area is massive, and you could honestly spend many hours going to various corners. There are highlights such as a well-known view of the Statue of Liberty, many sculptures, and graves for people ranging from Samuel Morse to Boss Tweed to Leonard Bernstein to Louis Comfort Tiffany to Henry Chadwick, among others, along with many people from various wars, of course, such as the civil war with one particularly interesting grave having a confederate and union soldier next to each other for reasons. The place is particularly well-maintained compared to other cemeteries I have been to, with the entrance being striking among other things.

We returned the following day and was able to walk the grounds. It appears to be a frequent tourist location to see graves of famous NYers were are buried on the compound. Can't speak on the service and value as I went for an event.
