This place seems to have multiple talented barbers and a great barber atmosphere that I wasn't expecting to find in Maine. The music was diverse and soulful, the crowd was homogeneous( obviously) but quite the wide age range. Every barber seemed to take good care of each guest- as I saw multiple guys leave with different and excellent cuts. My experience was exactly what I needed, but honestly not what I was expecting. My barber communicated with me about how I wanted my cut and confidently took charge. This was my first visit at Goodfellas and we talked a bit about my time in Southern Maine. As a black male, trusting someone to cut your hair (especially in a predominately non-minority state) is very frightening.. Glad I took a chance with Goodfellas!

As soon as you walk in you almost feel like you are walking into a speakeasy, which isn't surprising considering they are located in a basement. A hostess at the front desk, which also serves as a bar, greets you with the biggest smile. She then offers you a drink. That's because at Blind Pig, your haircut comes with a side of beer or cocktail of your choice. They offer simple drinks, like a glass of wine to more fancy cocktails, like Bloody Mary's. That's my type of place! The seating/waiting area rocks. With a mid-century modern feel to it, it has plenty of comfortable seating areas and even a massage chair. A great spot to enjoy your drink as your barber/hair stylist gets ready. The hair stylists working here are extremely professional and knowledgeable. They know what they are doing. Katelyn has been cutting my hair and she has been nothing but amazing. I truly look forward to my appointments with her a couple times a month. It was easy to schedule online, which I scheduled the day before and was met prompt by the barber and owner this morning for my appointment. Frankie was a personable guy and has a unique shop with a great vibe. I appreciated his conversation and attention to detail, always checking in to make sure I was happy with my cut.
