The Tonawanda Creek Rd entrance (across from Amherst Veteran's park) has information on the park including a trail map. 2. The Sweet Home Rd entrance (at Glenhaven Dr) has a garbage can and parking spaces, but no trail map or information is posted (as of Sep. 2020). I'd recommend parking at the other lot. This park is nice if you want to take a walk in the woods and feel surrounded by nature. My only criticism is that the trail wasn't well maintained. There were huge tire tracks and flooded in some spots. Also, although it was nice to be engulfed by nature, the trails themselves aren't very scenic. Although the trail is flat, its not smooth. Fine for walkers and trail runners, but I wouldn't recommend roller blading or bringing a stroller. The park is managed by the Town of Amherst.

The rocks along the wall on the trail are VERY sharp, so excercise caution while you're hiking here - it's a LONG way to the store for band-aids ;-)

So this park has had a bunch of changes. They have redone the baseball fields and put some more…read morestuff in the playground area. They took out lots of the trees, which is too bad from a shade flavors, but I think the trees were unhealthy, so probably needed. The little league baseball is back, and there weren't as many masks or as much social distancing as I would have preferred. But hopefully everyone is vaccinated. Update 122 2021

Neighborhood park off Hertel in North Buffalo. Very lively on a spring day like today 4/6/21…read more Lots of kids playing and swinging, strollers strolling, basketballs hooping! Park has seen better days, looks like a renovation of the facilities and pick up of trash is much needed. There is a nice pathway to walk, jog or roller blade. Baseball diamonds were not in use. I'd come back if I the neighborhood again. Some folks walking their dogs who live nearby. I should add: one of the Highlights to coming to this park is strolling down Hertel and enjoying a variety of eateries and unique businesses. After this visit to the park, I enjoyed a bowl of delicious ice cream from Lake Effect! Always a treat!

I love local parks!…read more Brought my one year old here and felt she was a little too small for the playgrounds and slides but the sand box with all the trucks in it, was right up her alley. There looks like a small wading pool open in the summertime, and also love that this is right in a cute little neighborhood. No parking but folks didn't seem to mind/have trouble parking. There are swings, a small and large basketball court, some benches, picnic tables and a gazebo from what I saw. Plenty of green space to set up a picnic!

Went to this park with my son and his two children under eight years of age (7 & 5). It was the…read moreperfect length to get through without hearing the children complain that they were tired of walking. This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

Clean, small community park, located in heart of Amherst, behind the Amherst police station…read more Recently visited for a fire fly hike that was guided, by the NYS Parks Department; Catol Rodgers. Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. Paved trail, not very long, perfect for quick walk or hike to explore the many trees. Family, everyone friendly.
