Located directly off Niagara Falls blvd, this park gives outdoor enthusiasts a variety dog park with green space, walking paved trail, area to launch kayaks, and numerous stoned picnic areas. Great suburban location and relaxing park to enjoy the outdoors.

Love coming to this park with our golden retriever Colby. It's huge so the dogs can run without being crowded by all he dogs. It helps our dog not fixate on another dog so the point where they may annoy each other. There's even bathrooms here which are honestly some of the cleaner park bathrooms I've seen. There's a few spots along the edges where the dogs can swim. The entire place is an island you have to cross a bridge to get to. I would be sure your dog has some sense of recall here as it is a very large area.

I don't re-write or update many reviews. Those that I do, it's usually to raise the rating rather than lower. In this case I feel pretty strongly that it's warranted. The last two times we brought our dog here she went home covered in burrs. Twice now I've had to watch my dog run up to us and lay down on the ground because she's covered in burrs and needs help. This is completely unacceptable. Obviously there is someone doing maintenance here, someone is cutting grass, trimming trees, etc. Why is there no one removing these bushes? It's not just one spot, there are several throughout the park. Looks like it's back to the paw park for us. We won't be back.

Hands down, awesome! An island dog park, the entrance is fenced so your dog can't escape to the bridge and run off. Big enough you can get exercise and walk with your dog. Water surrounded. Cute sculptures and ample seating. Tons of dogs. Trash cans. Folks are pleasant. Address should be 10 old Niagara Falls Blvd Amherst ny

If you're looking for a place to let your dog roam along with you along some small pathways, swim in the water, and simply let them be themselves without being stuck behind the restraints of a 6 foot leash, then this place is it. There is a pretty big parking lot right by the bridge that leads to the park's entrance, so I'd say there's more than enough room for people to park close enough and bring their pups to the island. Once you've headed over the bridge itself, there is a double gate you have to go through - precautionary, of course, in case any dogs want to try to sneak out of it. I think those two points help make coming to this park very stress-free. The park itself is pretty large - it's an island! A little spot that's completely surrounded by water is absolutely perfect for keeping pups contained. I've seen all different types of dogs here, from terriers to retrievers, and everything in between. It has dozens of picnic tables to sit at, some of which sit beneath some nice pavilions, and a restroom building for us humans if we need it. There's a neat canine water fountain near the bathrooms if your pup gets thirsty while you're spending time there, an alternative to having to bring your own bowl and water to the park. There's a rather large sign right at the entrance which has a good list of guidelines to follow. People generally do a good job of keeping an eye on their dogs, especially when it comes to them doing their business, but I have noticed a couple of people allowing their dogs to go on unattended, and unpicked-up piles that my dog (unfortunately) likes to go after. That's really the only downside to this place that I can think of. The other dog owners I've met here have always been super friendly, and super mindful of their dogs if they get too rowdy. I like being able to take my dog for a few laps around the entire park, and letting her swim around in the water and play in the mud. This is the place to truly let your dog be a dog.

Real quick- be VERY careful because it's coated in a sheet of ice right now (12/29/20) on the way in, which is all up and down hill!!!

Zeus being tiny at the dog park

We love the dog park!!! Especially my dog Zeus. We have had Zeus since May and he has loved the dog park ever since he has been able to start visiting in August. A miniature Jack Russell, he is usually the smallest dog at the park, but he has a blast and it is awesome for us to be able to take him somewhere that we can let him off leash to play and run. He loves interacting with the other dogs and being able to run and be near the water. If I could take him every day I would. The park is well kept, everyone is friendly and abides by the rules. Not to mention this is the largest dog park I have ever been to. I would travel to come here even if I didn't live right down the street! Can't say enough about this place.

Beach area at the Ellicott Creek dog park

Visited this dog park for the first time today. My dog loved it! It's definitely the largest dog park I've ever seen. My dog's a social butterfly so she hopped from dog to dog to play with everyone she saw. She especially liked the beach area - sprinting up the hill, around the structure, and into the water with or without other dogs! There are ample shelters, areas to sit, and shade from trees. One restroom (currently closed for COVID) and one water fountain for dogs in the whole space (I brought a small bowl and bottle of water to be safe and needed it). This park was a great time with lots of dogs - we will be back soon!

My dog Nico loving to explore the park!

I truly enjoy bringing my dog Nico to the Ellicott Creek dog park. It is much larger than the other dog parks in the area. If the weather is nice, the parking lot by is always full. This is a very popular dog park and typically pretty busy. My dog loves to explore how much there is so much that he rarely cares to play one on one with the other dogs. There's so much for the dogs to see and smell! I really like this because when a large number of dogs are in a smaller space and there becomes an issue, it is harder for the dogs to separate naturally and remove themselves from the tension. I have seen some issues between dogs at this location but it is only natural that things are going to happen. As long as owners are attentive to their dogs then it makes for an enjoyable place. The park is actually an island so it is surrounded by water which makes it so the dogs cannot run off even though it is not fenced in. My dog loves swimming and there are two main parts that allow for the dogs to easily access the water to swim. There are picnic tables for owners to sit as their dogs explore. I don't really view this as a normal park and it bothers me that there is a children's playground in the middle of the park. It can be worrisome when I see some families being small children. This is a place for dog friendly dogs. Not all dogs are used to small children. I know my dog can get very energized at the park and start doing zoomies which could cause a bad incident if he were to run into a small child. He is an extremely friendly dog but he is not often around small children. I know many large dogs that don't understand the need to be gentle with kids. It can be frustrating because if something were to happen, the dog would be viewed negatively. I have been there where a few ~10 year olds were playing frisbee on their own. I was incredibly surprised to not see a dog try to get on the middle and run after the frisbee. Ultimately this is a great dog park for dog friendly dogs. My dog enjoys coming here very much and we have had positive experiences each time we've visited.

This park is beautiful, and if you have a dog you need to come here ASAP. There's an off leash dog park here that's really awesome. I brought my dogs and they had an amazing time. There's plenty of space for them to run around, the whole thing is gated and there's even fresh water always available for the dogs. Even if you don't have a dog, it's the perfect park to walk around (and the whole thing isn't part of the dog park). The park also offers covered pavilions you can rent with grills that are great for cook outs.

I've worked close by for 5 years and I've lived almost just as close for over 4 years now and I just stopped by for the first time the other day to play pokèmon. There's a couple pokegyms and a pokestop in there. It's a dog park. I don't have a dog though, so it's pretty cute but also a little weird at the same time. You feel all warm and fuzzy when you go in there seeing all the dogs and puppies... however, most of them are not on a leash! I came here twice this week and both times a random come ran up and jumped on me with its muddy feet, lol. Ugh. Oh well, still a little cute though. They have some pavilion looking things in there, some old "castle," and a "dog beach". It's a pretty nice place overall.

Please for the safety of your pet do not let them swim at the dog park; it has parasites in the water and my dog Sophia got sick

July 22, 2014 I am a huge fan of the park but please for your dogs safety do not let them swim in the water on the Island. I made that mistake in June until the first week of July and have spent a ton of money at the Vet on a bacterial infection my dog now has. She has been on antibiotics all week and is not doing very well.

Great park, but Sunday 2/25 it was closed. Anyone comment on when it will reopen?

They don't have a definite date - but it usually reopens when the grass isn't as muddy. Probably April-May!

Harley (my pup) and I really like this dog park…read more The Park There are actually 2 fenced dog parks at Fireman's Park. One for small dogs and one for large dogs. Harley is in between size wise but so we go into the large dog park. (Its much bigger anyways). Both parks are very well kept. There was no garbage anywhere inside, they have a bunch of garbage bins so no one leaves their trash around. The fences are all in good repair so no pups are escaping. The grass both inside and outside the park is kept short which helps prevent ticks an other bugs which is very nice. Amenities There is a large water fountain for the dogs out front of the park so you don't need to worry about water. They also have buckets so you can bring water in. There is a holder for poop bags but it seems to always be empty. The parks also have a ton of benches and tables so you can sit an relax along the walking paths. The Dogs I know this isn't something the park can really control but I have found that the dogs/owners at this park are better behaved and more understanding then at some of the other parks in the area. We have only had one minor conflict between Harley and another dog and the owner was very apologetic and took care of the situation quickly. The only minor blip here is that sometimes people with really small dogs. (5-10lbs) will come into the large dog park and that could spell disaster. Harley and I will definitely be coming back here a lot more.

This is the largest dog park I have been to date. I could see this as being a blessing or curse…read moredepending on how vigilant people are about watching their dog(s). It has a lot of shaded areas, a first for me in the world of dog parks. There was a nice paved walking trail that made a loop, this was great to walk around with the dog to practice off-leash walking and also to have the dog explore other parts of the park. My only real complaint is that the little dog side is for dogs that are 10kg(22lbs) or less and the big dog side is everything else. That could put a pretty small dog on the big side. I think 13-15kg would be a better fit. My dog doesn't care if her play partners are big or small, but it might matter to some. The other dog owners weren't very talkative, which I am not used to. Usually people are super friendly. All in all, I will be back and I did really enjoy the park. I wish we had a similar one by me.
