First time renter at the local hardware store. A place I have bought equipment and tools for home projects for the past 3 years since I moved in. First and last. I rented a power snake hose for the day. The representative working insisted on giving me a hand to load this equipment into my car. In the process of assisting and shoving this very heavy piece of equipment into the car I get home to realize he had been scratching the machine up and down the panel directly behind the rear passenger door the entire time he was putting it in my car. scratched so deeply there are dents into my rear panel. I go to call and speak to someone about remediation and am told it is a Saturday, no one works there that can assist until maybe Monday or Tuesday... So I call back on Monday and get in touch with a store manager, whom I will leave anonymous out of respect for her simply doing what she is told to do. I am told plainly "there are signs that state we aren't responsible for damage done when loading your vehicle." A sign on a door, I did not see. A very important piece of information that was not called out to me by the representative who offered to help. Nor on any documentation I was given (which was none). Hundreds of dollars of damage to my vehicle by a representative who wasn't paying attention or didn't care enough to mention he was scraping a 130-pound machine against the side of my car. Roles reversed, I am paying full price to replace their machine had I damaged it in any way. There is no accountability within that store and no desire to mend a mistake their worker made. Do not utilize this rental facility. They do not care about you and as soon as they have your money nothing is their problem. I was told my information would be given to the owner, Ashlie H., with no guarantee I would ever hear back from her or the store to remedy this situation. They don't have a care in the world for their customer base. I spend thousands of dollars a year on home repair/upgrades, as do many locals in this area. There will not be another dollar spent at this store and I wish everyone the best of luck when utilizing this business. They do not care about you! **EDIT** Owner winded up calling me back and the inability to take any accountability is astonishing. An employee did hundreds of dollars of damages to a customer's car and every excuse in the book was thrown out. "we don't know if that damage was from the drive home" "we don't know if that damage was from you getting the machine out once you got home". Ashlie H.. the owner of this company, was incapable of admitting to any fault on her company's end and insisted because her company was doing me a "courtesy" of assisting with loading the equipment there is nothing to be done. Absolute clown show of a store, absolute disgrace of management and ownership running this business. It's shameful to see someone running a local business like this with such arrogance in the face of their customers. Without a care in the world. read more

If you interested in Stihl products, go elsewhere! The dealer can make or break your satisfaction with the Stihl line especially when things go wrong. The Rep here is not knowledgeable at all, if you have questions you are better off with Ask Jeeves, yes it's that bad, an 80's era search website. I can't imagine service after the sale here. If you know exactly what you want and can find it yourself in the clutter shop away. read more

I would give this place at least a negative five stars if it were possible, probably more. Went in for 12 sheets of 12' drywall and three buckets of mud --first time for that at this store. First time in their "lumber yard." Employee kept trying to give me 8' sheets. He had to move several pallets out of the way prior to pulling out the drywall I needed, which took a bit of time. Another employee showed up. Then another. I angled my truck to make it easier for them to load the drywall. I'd told them to snug the drywall to the pole at the edge of the hitch carrier extension from which I'd removed one to make it easier for them to load. They did not. I needed that pole on the extension to hold the drywall in place. Several sheets of drywall were damaged, so the employees had to move them across the storage bay to get them out of the way. (Seriously? Who wants to buy damaged drywall? Being that I was a woman I was expected to take it?) To move onto other customers, they left me trying to move the 12 sheets of drywall over, to snug them against the pole. That didn't work, so I grabbed bungees to hold them in place. Meanwhile, I had male customers screaming, yelling, and swearing at me to move my truck, that my loading had taken too long. I took my time. Should have taken longer. Wish I'd gotten in their faces and asked them their problems. Doubt they would have expected that from an old woman. Don't think I mentioned I'm 63 and was subjected to that abuse. Not one of the 3 male employees came to my defense to inform the lowlifes it wasn't my fault it had taken so long --which really hadn't been all that long. Guess they thought, since I was a woman, and an older one at that, it was okay to act like as*holes toward me. Yeah, about that... I'm a military vet. I don't back down. I spoke with the manager. Her stance was it was better for a customer to scream at another customer than to have an employee try to soothe things over. She then made the excuses the older employee was new, and the two others were young. She also informed me the man doing the most screaming and swearing was one of their best customers --obviously she didn't want to alienate him with his money. (I'm in the process of renovating an entire house, and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on it, but my money and business apparently aren't good enough for them.) The manager excused what happened by stating that was the type of customer they attract --apparently rude, obnoxious, ill-mannered, uncivilized, loud-mouthed, profane, self-centered, misogynistic dregs from South County. She shrugged it all off by telling me I should have given them all "the finger" --classy woman any employer and company should be proud to have on their payroll! With that in mind, beware if you go in there. According to her, their customers are the dregs of society. (Fortunately, the location in Dunkirk attracts more well-heeled customers.) They didn't have the mud I needed, either, plus what they did have was stored outside. Don't need mud that's been freezing and thawing. Told the manager that was the last time I ever set foot in that place. I'll stick with Sneade's and the Upper Marlboro Home Depot. read more

Great customer service. So so helpful!!! As soon as I walk in, I get approached by an employee and while I'm looking around, someone is always walking around and will always ask again thru out my visit if I need help. I said if I even wanted to go back to work, I'd love to work here! read more

You'll get all the help and advice you could need here. The staff knows the inventory, the scope of projects you might need to do, and the work arounds. They won't sell you a whole new fill-in-the-blank if a ten cent part is all you need. They're building community while we build projects. They are farther from me than another choice, and I go here. read more
