I love this hardware store! And I don't like going to hardware stores, but the employees are so friendly and helpful, it's family owned, they have a beautiful gift shop when you first walk in that has one of my husband's favorite perfumes (INIS - energy of the sea... It's in a turquoise and white package). I always laugh when I tell people that my husband's favorite perfume of mine came from a hardware store. I love that they offer coupons, rewards, and a military discount a few times a year, so we can get some pretty good deals. I noticed in their store that they offered knife sharpening with some laser guided gadget and being a skeptic person as I am and needing sharp knives in the kitchen I decided to give it a shot. The gentleman who operated the machine took my sarcasm well as I was wondering if in fact I would be pleased with the results. The findings and conclusions...Amazing!!! Most people shy away from the local hardware stores because they do cost a little more than your big box stores. I do get frustrated too with prices but the customer service can't be beat. You get greeted walking in the door, can't walk down an idle without an employee trying to help and you never wait in line more than a minute or two at the lumber counter or checkout. They are able to order what you need if they don't have it in stock and I've even had them help me find it locally when I needed it now. I go here at least once a week. My only suggestion is that it is time to open again on Sunday's. read more

This store is charging a dollar less for a 7 pound bag of grout than Home Depot does for a 25 pound bag of grout that's the EXACT same brand, color, and product. It's absolutely criminal. The advantage of this store is that it's local and convenient, but besides that, you're being taken advantage of at a 300%+ markup from another stores price. read more

Normally everyone is very friendly. Today not so much. I needed thin wall pvc in 3 inch for a drainage line. The sign by the pvc pipes in the store said "thin wall pvc available in yard. Ask at checkout". As I was checking out my items, I "asked at checkout". Me: "Do you have thin wall pvc" Checkout young lady: "I have no idea" Me: "It said to ask at checkout" Checkout young lady "WHO TOLD YOU THAT" Me: "The sign back there said to ask at checkout" Checkout young lady: "Lumber handles that. I have no idea" Me: (after getting carried by a 17 year old) Maybe I read the sign wrong. Let me go back to ask someone in lumber" I asked a guy at the lumber counter. He courteously told me they were out of 3 inch pvc. Instead of the young checkout lady saying "Lumber can help you with that sir". I get attitude. WTF?? It's not like she didn't know what I was talking about. She clearly did because she told me to that lumber handles that. There was no one in front of me... Well I did interrupt her talking to a young man, and no one behind me so she wasn't rushing. Sometimes people get snappy when under pressure. There was none. I go to Sneades all the time. 99 times I've had great personable service. 1 time out of 100 is still 99%. That's why they still get a 3 star rating. Oh. BTW. I went back and looked at the sign again. If we need some good quality tools and staff, we go to Sneade's Ace store. Prices may be a ted higher than in Home Depot, but the product is much much better. I went into Sneades for the first time since the Covid shut down, looking specifically for two items!! I was greeted immediately by a young man named Steve!!! He walked me through what I needed, explained things about one product I had never worked with. He was patient and kind!! Once at the register to check out, I believe her name was Angela or Angie??, She too was very helpful, and explained some of the "rewards" program benefits! I truly dislike shopping, but these two made my experience so comfortable and successful!! read more

If I could give them no stars I would. I have ordered from them 3 times to pickup items from their store. The first time I ordered I purchased 2 Yeti coolers when I got there they only had 1. These were xmas items and 2 days before Xmas I had to try to find another gift! This time it was patio umbrellas. I ordered 2, they sent a email saying that the order was canceled so I tried to order from their other store in Charlotte Hall. The website showed the items being available. They canceled this order also. All this happens after they charge your card so because they put it through as a charge not debit it takes forever to get the pending charges reversed. They need to learn how to update their inventory. I could see it happening once but not every time. Will not purchase from them again. read more

Handyman's Paradise. Clean, professional, well-stocked and friendly, you can find just about anything you could want in a home center. I can't say enough about how helpful and kind the staff is to customers both new to home improvement to old-hands looking for a quick fix. My wife and I have come here many times looking for items as small as a brass screw, and as large as topsoil and stands for planting tomato plants... the service has always been exemplary and the items we needed were in stock and plentiful. I've never had to use the catalog, but for more esoteric items, you can order things to arrive within the week. The prices on propane and lumber are especially competitive. Some of my recent purchases include: 6 foot hickory walking stick, sanded and smoothed. Bird and Squirrel feed... and feeders for the yard. Sprinkler heads and fertilizer for the garden. rechargeable batteries (we have a lot of tech to keep up) wax seal kit for replacement toilet If you're lucky, there'll be a local fund raiser going on and you can pick up a bag of kettle corn or girl scout cookies out front, too! I love shopping here. This place has a lot of staff and all are eager and knowledgeable. I stop wasting my time driving all the way to Annapolis or Upper Marlboro to Home Depot and Lowe's. Suprisingly good hardware store basically in the middle of nowhere. Doesn't have the selection of a home depot (which is about 10x the size) but does have nearly everything you 'need' for a DIY project or more. (It is worth noting that this general area is populated with an abnormally high number of contractors). Have found better lumber here than say HD (where 1 in 2 is crooked or warped), but as always, pick your own instead of letting some kid do it. Delivery service is also nice. Only negative is sometimes the only option is to buy the 'Ace Hardware' brand of something (plug, cord, nail, etc) when you are looking for another brand. But hey, that's to be expected I guess. read more

I've been repainting my entire house. I've purchased all my paint from snead thus far. My entire 1st floor has been repainted. In general the paint price is a few dollars more but it's not significant enough to drive to HD/Lowes.
