Dr. Dean is a phenomenal doctor. I've been seeing him for a few months and his front desk staff are always so kind to me. I don't know what the other reviews are saying...but I have had no issues. They are very loving and professional to me. You do have to call and leave a message but I have always received a call back. Dr. Dean is very thorough with his questions and during my initial visits and follow-up visits, he is very kind, thoughtful, and thorough with his questions. I was very open about my symptoms, and Dr. Dean and his team were open to multiple reasons why I may be feeling my symptoms and recommended some medication that finally provided relief for my GERD that I've been having for years. He does not always have openings for new patients but if you do get to have him as your doctor, you will not be disappointed. read more

Dr. Dean always takes the time to sit down and listen to what I have to say. I've been his patient for 20 years and he's always been caring and compassionate. He has such extensive medical knowledge too. He was the one who identified my husband's type of cancer even when the cancer specialists couldn't! For all these reasons, I wouldn't consider going to a different doctor. I drive over 20 minutes to see him. As for the staff, even though they're not always available to answer your call, because they're busy helping with patients, they always return your call promptly!! read more

The problem with Dr. Royal Dean's office is that his supporting staff is the worst I have ever experienced. No matter what time of the day you call, you get his answering machine. Every time I visit this woman, the office Manager, does nothing. You can personally experience her never picking up the phone. I personally asked her when do you personally pick up the phone. I don't "I return calls when I see fit" which is sometimes never. His sister does the billing, and my checks take sometime weeks to be cashed. I have to call to find out when exactly she plans on cashing them. Again, if she feels like returning your calls. When ever I visit Dr. Dean, the Nurse personally asks me, "Why are you hear today"? My comment, you are the nurse, you tell me that's your job? In addition, the Doctor goes on extended vacations, which informing his patients. You call for the Doctor schedule and no one calls you back. Oh well, he is probably on an extended vacation. When you finally get communicated with the Doctor's staff comments "No, the Doctors been here the whole Month"? If you are considering Dr. Dear as your primary Physician, DON'T walk no run in the opposite direction. I brought up each and every problem area of communication. Dr Deans answer. Would not recommend Dr. Dean in this season of his life. He sent my father home from the hospital with poor vitals with no valid reason, no nurse set up to check in on him, and no blood thinners. This had life changing consequences. read more

I would drive any distance (within reason) to see Dr. Dean. He is knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate, attentive and, best of all, open-minded. Together, he and I make a good team to address my needs. I couldn't imagine going to another physician and I don't know what I'm going to do when he retires. Also, his staff, who've been with him for ever, are the most attentive and responsive front office I've ever experienced. They never answer their phone! Even during stated office hours. Tried for DAYS to get in touch with them, no go. And forget about leaving a message, they just go un-returned. No way I'm keeping this doctor as my primary care physician, no way. I'd rather go to the urgent care center where at least I know someone is present and helpful. If you dislike aggravation, you will want to avoid this medical practice. Absolutely shameful way to operate a doctor's office. Dr Royal Dean is Amazing! He clearly lives and breathes Medicine. I love that he spends quality time in each exam and allows the patient to be involved with what the best treatment plan is. I've been to Dr. Dean since my friend recommended him several years ago. He is the nicest doctor I have ever met. The first appointment with him took over 30 minutes as he asked about me and my medical history. This doesn't happen with other doctors who want to rush. He listens to my needs every time. His diagnosis is accurate even when I don't have the exact symptoms. He gives me samples first, to make sure that the prescription will be right for me before I spend money on full prescription. With other doctors, this was a problem and I ended up with unnecessary Rxs which my health insurance had to pay. Now, I don't have the coverage, so Dr. Dean's caring practice really helps me. I'm very happy that he has the practice in our city. read more

I really wanted to make an appointment here because of all the great reviews and I need a new local Dr, but I have called every day this week (some days multiple times) and they have NEVER answered. Best Doctor ever! He actually cares about his patients and he is very thorough. The only problem I have had is getting a phone call back, but if it's urgent you can press 2 and they will call you within the hour. There is also a patient portal where you can send a message. That is the only part that can be a little frustrating. I will never see a different Dr. again. This is the best that there is. read more

Dr. Dean is an excellent primary care physician. The office staff is friendly and personable. And I have never felt rushed out, or passed over. Yes, as a reviewer has mentioned, they use an answering-service method for their phone lines. At first it was strange for me, mostly because I had never encountered that system. I learned to speak clearly and give as much information as I can, and in the last three years I've never had a message unanswered. I've had a lot of primary care physicians in my life, due to moving around the country a lot. I have never met someone with the kind of engaging, sincere bedside manor that Dr. Dean has. He approaches his patients on a direct and personal level. His technique is holistic; not just attacking a singular symptom or illness. If you've ever had a doctor rush you out, not listen to what you were saying, or brush you off, you deserve to speak with Dr. Dean. Would I trade that for a doctors office with a full-time operator? I saw Dr. Dean today for the first time and couldn't be more pleased with all aspects of his practice and himself. I came in with numerous concerns and was not feeling well. He addressed each concern on the spot and had a solution for each one. I received a breathing treatment and felt so much better. Dr. Dean's bedside manner is excellent. Dr. Dean has been my doctor for many years. Just as Stasi previously stated "expect to wait. He spends significant time with each patient" I am so thankful for Dr. Dean. He comes in, computer in hand, and may ask how your job is going because last time you were in, you were worried about a layoff. He wants to know everything that may have an impact on your health.
