Had to switch Gastro Doctors, wanted one closer to home but my PC recommended Dr. Amadpour, she said he's one of the best! My first visit went well, I had heard mixed opinions about him but my experience was really good. He was very nice and personable. The office staff is great! Very professional, prompt with scheduling, great with returning calls, and helpful with getting my authorization issues resolved. (Thank you Sunny!) I scheduled my colonoscopy for the following month and that went well (as unpleasant as they are) Dr. Amadpour was very kind and I like his bedside manner. Dr. Amadpour SAVED MY LIFE! I had been treated all my adult life for IBS until I got seriously ill. I was hospitalized in the ICU due to large amounts of internal hemorrhaging. My GP sent Dr. Moe to take over--something that, in retrospect, saved my life. Without going into personal details, Dr Amadpour had a hunch I had a certain manageable condition while other ER docs disagreed. Had they won out, the treatment likely would have been very detrimental to me, then and into the future. My 2-star rating has NOTHING to do with Dr. A and everything to do with his miserable practice staff. With tragically few exceptions, they are ICE COLD. You can't get a friendly worker EVER. They seem unhappy to be there, unwilling to treat patients with care and compassion. Trying calling for ANY reason. It ALWAYS goes to voicemail and those calls are ignored. I tried time and again to get my records forwarded to a new GI doc where I now live. No returned calls. Period. I even FAXED the request and never heard back. I cannot more highly recommend DOCTOR Amadpour. Sadly, you have to go through his PRACTICE to reach him. For this patient, it stopped being worth the abuse. read more

WARNING - in my opinion this place is a "Bill Mill" meaning they just want to bill for as much as possible while offering the least amount of care and attention. **Also please note - it is ILLEGAL to charge any Medi-Cal patient/member cancellation fees for missed appointments - regardless of whatever fake paper they have you sign**. Front office staff NEVER answers the phone directly, you always have to leave a message and wait for a call back. It is very difficult to get the doctor to spend more than 5 minutes on your care during any visit (whether in hospital or office), and it always feels like he's trying to leave the room as fast as possible. The "office manager" (who calls herself a doctor but isn't a medical doctor of any sort) is Dr. Amadpour's family member so of course has no reason to try and offer good service or be polite or kind. Dr. Amandpour is the worst doctor I have ever been treated by. His staff was rude and unskilled. They made me feel very uncomfortable during the procedure and they injured me multiple times. I went in for a basic procedure and left with two blown veins and I am still bleeding from the surgical site because they did not close the wound properly. I don't even know if Dr. Amandpour was in the room when the procedure took place because they sedated me before he arrived and he left before I woke up. read more

They lost their office manager who was amazing and the replacement is rude and confrontational and the care by the doctor is not good enough to put up with abuse from the office. Not only was I berated for 20 minutes about things that were not in my control, but after I left them a bad yelp review they ABANDONED me as a patient. I require life saving TPN, IV fluids, and IV medication around the clock and they pulled my prescription without ANY notice. I've been a patient of Dr. Amadpour for about 5 years and the quality of service here gets better each year. There's been some staff changes lately and the new girls are great. Everyone you encounter is kind and empathetic and willing to help you. Yes, it is difficult to get an appointment because Dr. Amadpour is the only doctor in this office! If you don't mind having your appointment time changed the day before after a three month wait, not having phone calls picked up or returned, talking to a receptionist who is clearly very unhappy with their job and having them respond "mmmm" when you tell them calmly that all of that is upsetting, this is the place for you. I find the disconnect rude, belittling and a quart low from professional. All of the above is not a one-off. My appointment has been changed four times, outright dropped twice. I struggle to find good reasons for all of this when I try to put myself in their shoes. A one star rating is generous. read more

Every time I call, no one answers. I have to leave a message. After seeing Dr. Amadpour, he told me I needed a procedure and that once I received the referral authorization, to call and make an appointment for the procedure. I have called and left messages on four consecutive weekdays and left the information they asked for. I have still not heard back. I am rating their customer service as I have not had a procedure to rate yet. I certainly hope HE is much better at his job than his office staff is. read more

The office failed to call me and reschedule my appointment, so not only did I waste my time but also my gas. So disappointed!!! I just walked out of Dr. Amadpour's office for what was to be my first "New Patient" visit. I and my kids waited for over an hour. We didn't mind the wait because we believed the doctor was running behind. Turns out - they were waiting on a fax of my insurance card from my insurance company (which I actually had with me all along). When I asked why the doctor didn't see me while they were waiting for the fax, I was told the doctor won't see anyone without their benefits verified first. In general, I don't mind waiting to see a doctor - but for legitimate medical reasons, ie, other PATIENTS and concern for their well-being. The fact that they will not see a patient until they have insurance card in hand indicates to me that they care more for $$$ than they do about the relationship they have with their patients. This also means those without insurance are apparently unwelcome there. I will not entrust my health or those of my family to someone who's first concern is his wallet. read more

I have no complaints about doctor and his staff! I spent some time trying to get a diagnosis from my PCP without avail, tried setting up appointments with different gastros in the area and no help. Exhausted I felt like I was going to live with my lower abdominal pain forever until I was able to get a referral to his office. He has answered all my questions, got me on the schedule asap for a procedure due to my excruciating pain, prescribed treatment. I've been a patient of Dr. Amadpour for a few years. Just regular check ups. Last visit I wasn't happy with the office staff everything seem rushed and out of control. Then I called for this visit I had an emergency left three messages never got a call back that day. Ended up going to my GP and almost put in the hospital. I will be looking for a new gastroenterologist just because of his staff. I got a call back the next day not an apology just Saying they were shortstaffed. Quite impossible to speak with someone when calling , the answer machine says " office is closed " even if it is supposed to be open . A medical assistant has a sign to her desk that says " it look like I don't care but I really don't care " and they really do their best to make you aware that they don't care . CVS called them a incredible number of times to change a prescription that I cannot take because contains sulfa ( and I wrote on my new patient papers that I'm allergic to sulfa ..) but they never replayed . Last but not least as a new patient with a colonoscopy report from another gastroenterologist ( that unfortunately is retiring soon ) based on the report that my oncologist and my family physician considered ok according to age and surgeries that I had in the past I was prescribed in this office a medication heavy on the liver that cures Crohn disease which my oncologist and my family physician said I don't have ( no bleeding , no diarrea , no losing weight , no cramps , no pain ) . This doctor office is a joke!! You wait over an hour to see the doctor for 5 min. only to be billed $250.00 that they do not know how to bill your insurance company. So now you fight with them to get it billed correctly and their billing company is a joke. Their billing company does not speak English very well so you have to have everything repeated over and over. They will never tell you the truth about what they are doing and try to upsell you to get other procedures that are not necessary. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR AND HIS OFFICE!!!! Went for a consult on a procedure. Office scheduled me in a surgery center out of my insurance network then gave me a lot of double speak regarding coverage. Noticed a sign on the wall saying he doctor had a financial relationship with said surgery center. Decided I could not trust this office and chose not to move forward with the procedure Received a bill for $300 for basically taking my temperature and blood pressure. Maybe I was lucky but I had a great experience with Dr. Amadpour and his staff. From my initial consult, the office gave me the option of an EGD in two days at their Simi Valley Hospital. The EGD went like clockwork and he told me afterwards of my diagnosis. Because I lived in OC, I called to inquire about my biopsy and the office RN didn't hesitate to read my results saving me a long trip and expense of a follow up visit. Oh and the office reimbursed me the amount I paid upfront for the EGD once they figured out my insurance covered the procedure entirely. read more

This last time it took an hour and 45 minutes before the nurse called my name??? Then the doctor spent maybe 15 minutes at the most with me! This doctor and his office is basically a colonoscopy screening "factory/assemblyline." Very poor follow-up or no follow-up at all. The doctor is not open to requests for tests. It's ridiculous to go to a doctor that doesn't listen to you, is too lazy to examine you and has his own agenda. The office will always recommend using the surgical-center that the Dr. Amadpour is part owner. Then when you go to the center, there are "extra" charges. I will not go back to this office....ever. My father in-law was referred to this doctor for some testing and it was advised that he bring someone to drive him due to the nature of the tests. The woman at the front desk, I believe her name was Evelyn, was very kind and had us seen fairly quickly. I saw Dr. Amadpour in about 2005 years ago for a colonoscopy because I was having pain, cramping and bleeding. The colonoscopy went well and he was very nice, but they left me alone to get dressed and I almost fell down on the floor since I was dizzy, having just woken up from anesthetic! A nurse should have stayed with me. On the followup in his office, his basic words were "you have IBS, not much I can do." Well, I've since learned I do not have IBS but rather fat malabsorption due to under functioning liver and/or pancreas, and have spent years suffering with severe weight loss and eventually hemorrhoid surgery (which provided relief from at least one source of pain). It would have been nice if he had at least referred me to a proctologist in the area to rid me of my hemorrhoids. I found the proctologist on my own by goggling (Dr. Rosenfeld), and had instant relief after hemorrhoid surgery in 2015. I have actually not found any decent GI doctors in the area, at least good diagnosticians, so I'm now treating with an internist, who has been much more useful in helping me! I find GI doctors just want to do colonoscopies (I had 4 in 10 years) and not be truly helpful in diagnosing and helping. GI doctors need to look at other potential functional problems like fat malabsorption, bile acid diarrhea, celiac, gluten sensitivity, etc. and not just be eager to do yet another colonoscopy or pawn us off with "IBS." read more

Was referred to Dr. A because I have high liver enzymes; I had to wait nearly 2 hours on the initial visit (even after filling out the stacks of paperwork days beforehand). He told me to get more blood tests done & recommended an ultrasound. When the blood work was in 2 days later, I went to speak with him about it & his staff wanted to charge me _another_ $60 specialist visit fee for me to be there for 10 minutes for him to tell me that even though I was having the ultrasound done, he wanted to schedule a biopsy. Fine. A couple days pass by & I have the ultrasound done.........no one ever got back to me with those results. I went in for the liver biopsy last Friday (which was a horrific ordeal due to the un-professionalism of the SV Hospital staff). I was told my results should be in in 4 - 5 business days. On Monday, I called Dr. A's office to see when I could speak with him about the results; one of his staff told me he didn't have an opening until Tuesday. Great. This office doesn't have a clue what people are going through emotionally & financially. The majority of his staff is incompetent, rude & disorganized. When I spoke with his assistant to find out the results of the ultrasound, she asks me where I had it done!! I told her I had it done where they told me to have it done; in the very same medical park!!! Then she told me "I don't see it in your file"; I comment that as Dr. A prescribed the ultrasound, isn't it likely that Wood Ranch Imaging would have sent the results to him? She then had to go online to find the results which took 5 minutes, then comes back on the line to tell me "oh, it was normal". I said that it would've been nice to know that before going in for the liver biopsy (this was totally unprofessional and massively disorganized on her part). I have now put in 3 calls to this office today & learned when I spoke with one girl that the biopsy results are in, but until the Dr. tells them, they cannot tell me the results. Dr. A is there until 4 pm today & I have not heard from him yet. I have been stressed since the biopsy on Friday about the outcome of this, but they can't manage to get back to me on the day when the results are actually sitting in their office. Oh, and by the way, you're lucky if you get a live person at any time during the day. Most of the time you get a recording or it just goes to someone's voicemail with the message that they are gone or the office is closed. So completely unhelpful & unprofessional!! read more

Have seen Dr. Amadpour for over six years for ulcerative colitis. He has always treated me with respect and compassion, as an intelligent adult with my own ideas, concerns and allowed me to make my own decisions, unlike some doctors I have seen in the past. I have the utmost trust that he will do the best he can do for me. Someone complained about waiting too long. I have waited in many doctors' offices and sometimes that's just the way it goes.
