I was really a mess, I suffered from extreme anxiety, lack of rest, & I believed my neighbors were peeping on me & my teenage daughters while in the privacy of my home. My perception of reality had gone koo-koo! Dr.Thomas is very wise, he had me on a few medications, but my anxiety & restlessness would not subside. Although he was unable to cure my condition... while visiting his office I noticed that he was a drug addiction specialist. My first born, adult daughter is a heroin addict. This has caused me so much stress, & is a primary cause of my anxiety. I inquired to see if he would help her. He told me to bring her in to see him. After a couple of attempts to get her into see him, I got my chance to bring her in. We went on a tour of Costa House, Wowie! It is a mother's dream come true... My daughter wasn't ready to commit to entering his program, but she did go to see Dr. Lucille Thomas, immediately after our tour. I was very impressed, & thankful to be able to get help for my first born (baby) daughter. Although my daughter did not follow the medication protocol, the Dr was quick to recommended an inpatient intensive detox ASAP. We were able to get her into a treatment facility that day... that was yesterday. Today I am the most grateful mother in the world. It has helped relieve my main stress in my life. Last night my daughter was safe, & in a treatment center. Thank you Dr.Thomas, you helped our family survive the most difficult year for us. Please don't retire any time soon! P.S. He keeps to his schedule, but if you need more time then he will not rush you. He's been our family physician for over 25 years. His staff is equally kind, courteous and accommodating and efficient. Overall a 10+ office! On Yelp, people are confusing the Urgent Care side (Dr. Vo and staff) with the Moorpark Comprehensive (Dr. Kodama) side. My initial experience with Sam, the nurse practitioner, and the physician assistant was very pleasant. They were warm, professional, and made me feel optimistic that I had found a family practice where I could establish long-term care. Unfortunately, my experience changed after my laboratory results became available. A receptionist named Britney called me and immediately began discussing my results without first asking whether I was in a private place or prepared to receive medical information. I was at work and had to interrupt her and ask her to wait while I moved somewhere private. I had assumed she was calling only to schedule a follow-up appointment. I believe staff members discussing medical information should always confirm that the patient is able to speak privately before sharing results. When I returned for my follow-up appointment, there also appeared to be some confusion at the front desk. Although I had confirmed my appointment the previous day, the doctor stated that he had not known I was coming and had taken another patient before me. He apologized, but the delay made me late for work. Once I was called back, the process felt rushed. I was quickly directed onto the scale and then placed in a room with a medical student. I was not asked whether I was comfortable having a student participate in my appointment. The student repeatedly described my hormonal status in a way that did not match what I had previously been told, and our discussion about vitamin D supplementation felt dismissive rather than collaborative. I was also uncomfortable with the student shifting and rocking from side to side in my peripheral vision while the doctor discussed some concerning health information. That made an already stressful conversation more difficult. Later, when the doctor returned and spoke with me privately, the interaction was much more comfortable. He was pleasant, made eye contact, explained things more clearly, and ultimately did a good job addressing my concerns. I wish the receptionist had demonstrated a better understanding of patient privacy, that I had been asked for consent before a medical student joined the appointment, and that the visit had not felt so rushed. Staffing problems, scheduling confusion, and the absence of a manager may explain why the office was having a difficult day, but patients should not have to absorb the consequences. Overall, the doctor handled the appointment well toward the end, and my first visit with the other clinical staff had been positive. I spent considerable time researching family-practice physicians because I hoped to establish ongoing care here. For that reason, I am willing to give the doctor and the office another chance before deciding whether this practice is the right fit for me.

He offers understanding to challenges that one might have with living situation, insurance, lifestyle concerns, and other aspects of life that can affect one's health. I've never felt judged there, which I can't always say with some other healthcare providers. We tend to make afternoon appointments, because I work full time, and it's less invasive to my work obligations. Yesterday they were running behind, which became understandable once we were called into an exam room. They have a new EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system, aided by AI, which means that the system handles a lot of the record logging, giving the doctor more time to focus on discussions with the patients, plus the physical exam. As this is new for them, there were a few minor glitches. I could tell how excited Dr. A is for this new development. Given how many patients he sees each day, an effective new tool should be very helpful to him. I appreciate the information he shared about options for medications for a condition I have to manage. DH will have some tests coming up that he hasn't had done for a long time. All good stuff in taking care of us, and we are grateful. Gave him a thumbs up on the re-design of the waiting room.
