The care my cats have always received at the Napa Valley Animal Hospital has always been great…read more Receptionists are always friendly. Dr. M. Khakh (aka Dr. MD) has always been very knowledgeable and caring during all exams. I am not sure what people are complaining about here. Is it the prices? I have had to deal with many veterinarians over the years and Napa Valley Animal Hospital has pricing that is set similar to standard pricing. Yes, sometimes a visit can become expensive if there is physical exam, lab work, antibiotics, etc, but it depends on the nature of the visit. I have found Napa Valley Animal to be really good in service and care.

We took our dog, a 3-year-old Labrador, to this vet a few times in 2022 because it was close to home. He had started having seizures, which was absolutely terrifying for us as first-time dog owners and first-time owners of a dog with seizures. Unfortunately, the veterinarian we saw (I believe his name was Dr. M.D.) was very dismissive and not comforting at all during an extremely stressful time. My memory is a bit vague now, but I clearly remember being extremely distraught during a phone conversation where euthanasia was mentioned as a possibility. That conversation still bothers me to this day. Thankfully, that never happened, and looking back, I truly don't understand why it was even brought up in the way it was. On top of that, this clinic felt like a major money grab. We were required to pay every single month just for a written prescription (literally a piece of paper) in order to refill our dog's seizure medication--on top of paying for the medication itself. I understand paying for medication, of course, but charging repeatedly for the prescription itself felt excessive. Our current vet does not do this, which really highlighted how unreasonable it felt in hindsight. We have since switched to a different veterinarian and are extremely happy. The difference in care, compassion, and professionalism has been night and day. Overall, our experience here was very disappointing--unempathetic staff, poor communication, and unnecessary costs during an already emotional and difficult time. I truly hope this review helps someone else make an informed decision for their pet.

My family, before transferring the pup to us, had brought their dog in to try NWVH as the pup has severe allergies and they wanted a second opinion. Atopica, which is a very common allergy medication was what the dog had been using.... The Vet, knowing the dog needs this every day, issued a "repeat" prescription knowing the dog had been taking this, it had been working. Then, both the original owner of the dog and myself called to inform NWVH that I would be taking over the ownership of the dog, we first asked to have all ownership transferred into my name and address.... Which was completed.....I then asked to have the prescription in my name sent to my pet pharmacy so I could arrange for pick up as the dog needed it right away..... the prescription was sent in the original owners name which created a whole bunch of confusion... When I called back and asked for them to send the prescription again, even though they had agreed to send it originally.... Now told me that they would need to see the dog again because it has changed ownership. So, even though the dog was the same dog, the service was paid for and the prescription was issued (just under the wrong owners name so we were unable to pick it up and they were out of the country) and the dog was transferred into another immediate family members name, instead of simply changing the name and resending it, they 100% had to see the dog again, which meant another vet visit with costs involved... makes no sense at all.... It was at this point that I decided enough was enough and asked that all papers please be transferred to another clinic. It was then that we realized as soon as this clinic could potentially be losing as client.... They no longer cared about the dogs best interest... but the fact they weren't going to be making any money on this pup any further... It took 3 calls and the threat to leave a review for them to decide they would give me a "one time" prescription for the dog and that was all they would do.... And said "we are only issuing you a 1 time prescription because you will no longer be a client".... Even though my family had paid full price to obtain the prescription the dog needs in a daily basis. Not only was this just a true lack of professionalism, but demonstrated that this isn't about the customers needs, it's truly about their own.... This combined with the attitude on the phone from their representatives when all I was looking for was answers and a solution... was horrible.... With the amount of money we invest into our animals, this certainly made me feel like I had to do it their way (by keeping the animal with them) or they had no interest at all.... There are many excellent Clinics out there and if distance isn't a factor... go to Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital... been using them for years and they will do anything to go out of their way for the customer... North Woodbridge Animal Hospital was an experience I'll never have again... I'll also be filing a complaint with The College Of Veterinarians Of Ontario.

After talking to him about it, he went on a whole rant on how he didn't over charged us. Dr.Kia should have his license revoked Very unpleasant experience and unprofessional doctor AVOID!

We asked the doctor what he thinks is best and if we should just remove his nail? Or what else can you do? He explained to us we would continue to have this problem with him breaking his nails so we should just remove the entire digit on the one paw and then the other paw we will just remove the nail and within 7-10 days he'll be fine again. He told us that the surgery was NOT a big deal and he could do it right now. He gave us no other options, he just insisted that the surgery is the best way to proceed. This was at 6pm in the evening on Jan 2nd. This was the beginning of an ongoing nightmare. Unfortunately I cannot post the entire essay I had wrote on Facebook due to Googles character limit. But after seeing a few other vets we found out this surgery is HIGHLY NOT recommended ever. Another vet even said after his 23 years experience he has NEVER recommended amputating the front dew claws. It's dangerous and a nightmare if it becomes infected. This was a photo taken this morning. This is still ongoing. His paw looks a million times better than what it did, it was black and green and crusty and disgusting, and the oder was unbelievably foul. DO NOT let your pets be put through unnecessary surgeries GET A SECOND OPINION. We certainly have learned our lesson.

We recently visited this clinic with our sick dog, and unfortunately, our experience was…read moredisappointing from start to finish. The overall atmosphere felt more focused on selling services than genuinely helping our pet. The doctor(who stayed quite mostly) was accompanied by an assistant(talked alot) and seemed to follow a very scripted approach -- offering multiple add-ons and upsells rather than sincere, compassionate advice. During our appointment, we also overheard staff in the back room swearing and joking loudly, including someone sneezed and yelled "I almost sh!t my pants". That moment completely broke any sense of professionalism or trust we had left. It's astonishing that there's no washroom available for customers in the waiting area. We spent over 2.5 hours there -- mostly waiting for the doctor(altho we booked appointment ahead of time), then waiting again for the price breakdown, and finally going back and forth with a "manager" about costs. It was a long, stressful day made worse by how little progress was made in helping our dog. Eventually, we had to rush to another veterinary clinic, where our dog finally received the proper care and attention she needed. We strongly recommend you go to Dr. Asianova Animal Clinic, she has a heart to help the animal. To give an idea of costs at this clinic(non emergency): * Basic exam, bloodwork, and tests: around $1,500 * Simple surgery estimate: $5,000+ on top * Full range of suggested services: over $10,000 While we understand that veterinary care can be expensive, our concern wasn't the cost itself -- it was the lack of empathy, sincerity, trust and helpfulness we felt throughout the visit.

Was told my kittens first set of vaccine shots would be $197.18 but that sounded insanely expensive so i called a different veterinary hospital that was recommended to me by my cousin and they told me $89. not to mention, the last time i went to this vet they charged me HUNDREDS of dollars for medication that my kitten didn't even need because she didn't even have worms. but the vet literally said "i'm 100% sure she has worms". after i called the next day to find out the fecal results were negative for worms, the vet said they can't refund the prescribed medicine( i didn't even use it) this vet only cares about money. go somewhere else. I already got my kittens medical history transferred to a different vet. would give 0 stars if i could.
