Dr Goode was the best. After she retired I lost confidence. I had taken my dog there fur an exam as I felt a small black pepper size lump near his thigh. . I was told my dog needed bloodwork prior to the clinic removing the tumor in their office. The blood work came back and I was told that his albumin numbers were too low. I explained to Dr.that I believed that my dog had a food allergy as he was throwing up the new food my daughter had bought. But Dr. did not think that was the case. and I was referred to get an ultrasound done as Dr. Puhl had thought my dog had an intestinal issue. I spent 500.00 fur ultrasound. . Testing came back normal. I bought another variety of food without sweet potatoes as an ingredient. He was no longer throwing up. Dr Pohl had suggested I bring him back for new bloodwork. His albumin had improved but Dr thought it was still not high enough to remove tumor. The tumor kept growing while waiting for his albumin numbers to increase. By the time his numbers slowly improved my pup could no longer have the tumor removed at Dearborn Family pet so I was referred to a surgical animal hospital. FOUR months after my initial visit he had his surgery. It was found that the tumor removed was an aggressive form of cancer. After the surgery I had showed my pups test results to another vet. They said there was NO reason why Dearborn Family Pet did not remove the tiny tumor months earlier as they felt his albumin number was not significantly low.. His tumor had grown from the size of a black pepper seed initially to the size of an avocado by the time he had surgery. Following the surgery he had recurring small tumors that developed as I was told due to the size the tumor had Brien they did their nest to get it all. The only vet I felt comfortable with at Dearborn Family Pet was Dr Goode... and she retired. read more

The people at Dearborn Family Pet Care are genuine and very caring people. Recently Fran, our 8 yr old friend, had a cancerous mass taken off of her groin. After 3 surgical procedures and daily visits to change dressings, Fran is now cancer free and as good as new. My daughter, Kate, is also a hero for her daily love, medication trickery, and activity control which included a ramp out of our back door. Our thanks to them for more time with Fran!! read more

Let me start by providing some context. I've been a customer of DFPC for many years, with multiple pets. Thier services have always been on the expensive side, but I trusted the doctors and believed that they were providing the best care for my pets so I could justify the higher cost. Unfortunately, that all changed during my last routine vaccination appt. During that visit the doctor identified some areas of concern and recommended a biopsy. The issue is that instead of providing ALL of the information so that I could make a well-informed decision, the doctor decided she'd only provide the information for the path she wanted to proceed with. What the Doctor failed to realize is that there was no decision for her to make, her job is to provide the patient with all the facts. The pet parents make the decisions, period. The sad part is when the Practice manager called to discuss, she admitted to seeing why I would be frustrated but continually made excuses for the failure of the Dr to provide all the information. She claimed they had to do the test, so that they knew how to proceed. Funny thing is the test was inconclusive, but they were still able to recommend a path forward? If you needed test results to determine next steps, how exactly do you provide next steps with a test that provided inconclusive results? That doesn't make sense. After going around in circles with the practice manager, the only solution she could offer was to speak to the doctor about the concerns. If you have to explain to the doctor that a core part of their job is to provide the patients with all the information up front, that's a major issue. I've lost all trust in their medical staff and will never give them another opportunity. Buyer beware... If you read this and decide to give them a try, please make sure you ask a million questions, get every treatment option and understand the path they recommend before ever agreeing to anything. Even then, I'd still get a second opinion. To DFPC, over the years I've provided plenty of recommendations for your services and have been a loyal customer, and I appreciate all the past care you've provided. It's sad that your customer service has deteriorated to such a horrible level that I can no longer in good faith recommend your services or trust you to care for my pet. read more

Very sad that when you need a vet they are unavailable. Call they were to busy, so emergency bet we go. Call 5 days later to get in they were still to busy to help, so I switch vets and got right in with no problems. Not acceptable. read more

Dearborn family pet care fraudulently billed my sisters account for my cat while my mom brought my cat in. I asked them to correct this, reverse the charges and rebill me, however, Cindy Carroll, the office manager, refused to correct this clerical error and accused me of being unethical. what is unethical is how they treat their customers who are asking them to correct a billing error. it is not uncommon that someones parent brings their pet to the vet and i'm not sure how they determine they should be billing my sister instead of me. there was not even a signature on the care credit which to me seems unethical. now instead of being able to resolve this internally, I will have to begin a dispute process with care credit. honestly baffling behavior and deeply concerning. read more

Update: Moving this rating from 5 stars to 2 (it probably should be one). Due to recent poor experiences, we no longer take our pets here. Misdiagnosis, unnecessary surgery, unable to get an urgent appointment for over two weeks, some rude front desk staff, and being rushed in and out... it's too bad. I know several others have recently left after going here for many years too. I sure hope they get their business back in order. They used to be a premier animal care location. --------------- I've taken my family pets to Dr Good since she was at Burns Animal Hospital. She is so great with all the animals we've brought to her. Her office staff are friendly and efficient. The technicians are pretty no nonsense, they come in and do what they need to do. The waiting room seems to be always busy and yet they manage their time so well, I've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes before getting in a room and seeing a technician then one of the vets. I highly recommend Dearborn Family Pet Care for all of your pets' needs. read more

Our family has been going to this Vet for almost 20 years. Our cat has stomach issues and anytime he needs to be seen quickly they can't be bothered, they just send you to the emergency vet. There office schedule doesn't seem to accommodate any emergency visits and the manager there clearly doesn't have a clue what she's doing. It took me 5 minutes to find a new vet that will see my Animal today. This place does not value loyalty; the office used to run wonderfully and has significantly gone down hill over the years. I have always loved the doctors here but there is such a lack of empathy and caring it's not worth it. We brought our dog here and he was having trouble pooping. Our dog was only one years old so you'd think he'd be really healthy. Well he was scheduled for surgery seeing he was having his issues while using the bathroom and they were supposed to do surgery. They didn't even start the surgery, they gave my dog a too big of a dose of anesthesia and made my dog overdose and die. They then called us and said his heart had failed during surgery. My dog was ONE year old who had trouble POOPING. Will not be back! They murdered my dog. read more

Always caring and helpful. With my first cat that had many complications and had to be put to sleep, the Doc and the techs were very compassionate and gave me as much time as I need with him before he passed. Then they gave me a foot print of my precious cat so I would have a part of him. I couldn't have asked more.... I've also taken 3 other cats to Dearborn Family Pet Care. I trust these people with my cat family. The waiting room is clean and bright, with pictures of cats and dogs on the wall. They also have a small area for an adoptable cat in their cat room. I also enjoy the fact that they take the time to do charity with the local animal shelter! Kudos to them!! read more

Being the jewel that she is, she gave me some other places I could take my cat to be seen. I can't say enough good things about this veterinarian. I have been bringing my animals to Dearborn Family Pet Care for about 7-8 years now. Dr. Good, Dr. Pohl and Dr. Money are all great vets but I've really formed a connection with Dr. Money and so have my animals. She is so kind and you can tell genuinely loves each animal that she treats. This vet is thorough and when they are unsure of how to treat a situation they aren't afraid to tell you that and to refer you to a specialist. The reception staff here is also amazing. I'm on a first name basis with just about all of them and they all know my dogs names and are always happy to see them. Michelle, Debbie and Tara are all extremely helpful. Michelle has been there since the beginning when I started taking my animals here and she and I always have great conversations. This isn't a cheap, fly by night practice....but you get what you pay for. You won't be disappointed in the service you receive or the care and compassion given to your pet. read more

I have been going to this clinic for years and have always been very pleased with the service and care by all the staff. I realize costs for everything have gone up. I also understand that they have state of the art equipment there, but their prices have become astronomical. I have had both dogs and cats all of my adult life and care for them like children, but I don't think a dental cleaning should be $600 base cost. Anesthesia or not, that is nuts, especially since they recommend it yearly. I understand they have overhead, three doctors and many technicians to pay for, but I think it shouldn't be so expensive. This may be true for most city vets, but I am now being driven to find a cheaper clinic. read more

Went to them as a recommendation, I had to put my cat down after 17 years. The staff on the phone and in person were over the top in caring, compassion and professionalism! The private cremation remains were returned in 1 day to the office. The care and professionalism was again top notch with the beautiful wood box, the card and poem. I hope their practice has changed since the last time I was there. Granted it has been many of years since I've been there but the experience I had, I will NEVER go back. One of the Drs told me that my boxer had cancer. Quite the news to get! They gave us no options(other vets offices or specialists) they just wanted to operate. I was scared to death thinking this is my only option and I don't want my fur baby to die. They put him under anesthesia and prepared the area and then stopped. They preceded to tell my husband and I that his cancer had spread and they would not proceed with the surgery. I was devastated!!!! I found a cancer speciality clinic in canton(who was wonderful) and they explained to me that he did NOT have cancer and that he would be fine. How many dogs/cats have been misdiagnosed and/or even put down because of their incompetence?!?! I value my fur babies to much to ever subject them to this type of uncompassion and incompetence. I talked to Dr good personally and she herself did not care about the situation. She didn't care that my baby went under anesthesia for nothing. She didnt care that my husband and I went through a hell of a lot of stress for nothing. They never once apologized, never once! As far as im concerned, all dr good does is stick her hand out to collect your money. Care has always be awesome at Dearborn Family Pet Care, however I cannot express my disappointment enough that they would not accommodate my pup for a hip injury until November 6th. I have been taking my fur babies to Dr. Good since 1995. I was told to contact an emergency vet, which would easily be a minimum of $500. I contacted another vet, Caputo's, who wisely has daily set times for urgent appointments. We have never gone there but they are seeing my suffering pup Wednesday morning. read more

I've been a client at Dearborn Family Pet Care for several years now. Due to my most recent experience there, I will no longer be bringing my pets back to them. I adopted a cat from a local animal shelter, and discovered a lump on her chin. I made an appointment to see Dr. O'Connor on 7/16/18, to get her chin checked out. I learned she had chin acne, and she was given an antibiotic shot to clear that up. She was also given a rabies shot and she was microchipped. The vet checked her teeth and informed me, She has a nerve growing out of a tooth, she needs a dental and to have that tooth extracted." I asked how much that would cost, and I was given an estimate of $391-$1,001. I was in shock! I decided to take her in to another local vet, at Dix Animal Hospital, for a second opinion. She had gingivitis so it was recommended she get her teeth cleaned and polished. He didn't see any other problems with her teeth at that time, and he said, "I'm 99% sure she won't need any extractions." I asked how much this dental would cost, and was told, $225.95. I made the appointment and took her in for a dental the following week. Guess what happened? No extractions were necessary and they charged me $225.95. I'll NEVER return to Dearborn Family Pet Care, they tried to scam me. read more

I've been bringing my pets to Dr. Good's clinic for the last 20 years. She is a great vet & I met her through her support of the Dearborn Animal Shelter. She keeps her staff very up to date on the latest procedures & has hired the nicest, most friendly staff. They are all very competent & genuinely care about your pets & are animals lovers. There are treats for the dogs & they make sure that plenty of pets & scratches are given before they go in for the exams or shots. First off let me state my review is not based on care received from them but on care not received and even more important for a veterinary clinic compassion and lack thereof. We all know that Covid effects us all and while my dog receives great care from another Vet they are not able to allow my presence when they euthanize my dog who has been diagnosed with lymphoma. This facility has a secure area to do so but will not extend the compassion to us. Their reasoning is we are not accepting new patients. NEW patients? REALLY? How about providing a humane service so a pet owner does not have to leave a loved one at the door to say goodbye? Something I'm sure no dog owner ever wants to do! If you use these people and are pleased good for you! I have been vetting my dog here for all 5 years of her life and have always enjoyed bringing her in. Today I took my foster dog Chevy aka Coco in to get a heartworm test and to get a Cytopoint shot for her allergies. This was my first time taking her into the vet MYSELF. She was previously vetted with her previous owners. Coco is a 1 year old pitbull and unfortunately had a rough first year of life which has left her fearful of new people and places. The staff at Dearborn Family Pet Care didn't even bat an eye! They were so wonderful and patient with her despite her scary sounding bark! They don't do emergency visits, even during normal business hours. I don't want to take my dog to two different places depending on if I can get an appointment or not. They are easily irritated by my dog who has vet anxiety and stress. There are much better and more flexible vets who take emergency visits. You do not get what you pay for here. read more

Been brining my dogs and foster dogs here for quite a few years. Getting an appointment is usually easy. Phone calls are returned timely with things like test results , as well as explaining them. My aunt Marie is a vet assistant there. My 9 year old cat wasn't eating or drinking and I called up Marie and asked her when can I bring Sammy in (my cat) and she talked to Dr. Pohl and she said bring him right away. I live 15 minutes away from there so we rushed down there. They got me in right away and did an exam on him and told me that he had a tumor on his throat and a lot of fluid around his heart and lung. So we decided since his condtion was progressing fast it was time for him to go to Rainbow Bridge. They gave me clay with his pawprint on it and sent us a sympathy card in the mail.
