DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE! Seriously, I hate reviews like this, I always assume it's some middle-aged Karen who hates service workers. But I promise I'm just a girl who loves her cat and wants her to be healthy. Apparently, this "vet" does not share the same sentiment. For context, I live with my mother who has 4 cats, 2 senior with pre-existing health issues (which this vet knew because my mother also brought her cats here, she is cancelling all future appointments after today.) I found my then 8-10 week old kitten right by the creek outside of my apartment. She was and still is extremely tiny, and had a lot of issues by the time we found her 2 months ago. She has had 2 vet appointments here. During the first appointment she had a blood test which determined she was negative for feline aids and leukemia, which the vet told me was the only test needed to see if she was safe to be around our other cats. I asked THREE DIFFERENT TIMES if there was anything that could harm my mothers cats and Dr. West was adamant that the other cats would be perfectly fine. I asked about parasites and he said it "doesn't look like she has any parasites". This was right after I explained to him that her anus looked prolapsed, she pukes a lot even after buying a slow feed mat, has diahrea everyday no matter what she eats, was extremely gassy and bloated, and did not seem to be gaining any weight. I was told that her anus problem was because I wiped her butt too much. I can not say this enough, but that was NOT the case. They blew me off about every single symptom I brought up. I expressed extreme concern for her, and was met with blame instead of investigation. I was not even told to bring in a stool sample at ANY POINT during the first appointment or leading up to the second appointment. When we showed up to our second appointment, they were almost offended that I didn't just magically know to bring one. This is my first cat that I have raised from a kitten on my own, so I expect the vet I've paid almost $1,000 to help fill in knowledge gaps when I have been actively asking for help. Nonetheles we carried on with the second appointment and I yet again brought up all of my concerns and I was one again ignored and told that I must be doing something wrong, this time by a different doctor, Dr. Frank Acevedo. They then had me bring a stool sample the following monday which I did, and they called 3 days later (today). Now you may have already guessed what she had, but she has roundworm AND GIARDIA. When asked if it was contagious, the staff member I was on line with said, and this is a direct quote because I record calls with healthcare professionals for this very reason, "oh my god yes very, she's not around other cats is she?". Now I will admit, this is where I karen'd out a little (I made no threats btw, I'm not crazy). I told them that now 4 other cats, including 2 senior cats with health issues, are now at serious risk of stomach parasites because I trusted the word of their doctor. I told them this was absolutley ridiculous and that now we will have to pay to get 4 other cats tested and possibly treated and hopefully it wont harm the oldies too bad. I was told there was nothing the vet tech could do. I waited for a call back from the manager that was supposed to be made within the hour that never came after 2 hours. I then called back and spoke with Lindsey, the manager of the vet. She was extremely rude and expressed zero empathy for the situation. Honestly I'm sure they thought they'd be able to line their pockets with more cash having to treat 5 cats and all. I told her as compensation for my kitten being in pain and suffering for GOD KNOWS HOW LONG and endangering 4 other cats, the meds for my cat should be free of charge and the testing for my moms cats should also be at the very least discounted. She then proceeded to rudely assume that my mother does not go to this vet. In her words "We can't do anything for your mom because we've never treated her cats". I corrected and told "I don't know why you're making assumptions and being rude instead of asking follow up questions and trying to help all this grief your doctors have caused. You absolutley have treated my moms cats, all 4 of them and 1 of them was just there this past week." she then told me she still would be charging my mother full price for THEIR MISTAKE. She then had the audacity to ask if my mom could call back to schedule an appointment?? Now this is where I about lost my damn mind. I did not cuss at this woman, did not threaten her, I simply told her how ridiculous and fixable this situation is. I could not imagine a doctor treated somebodys child like this, and my kitten is my daughter. She then interuppted me mid sentence to tell me she would no longer sit here and be disrespected and hung up the damn phone on me. I have never been angrier honestly, my babygirl has been suffering for months in silence and I've done everything I could to advocate for her. read more
