Our dog had an appt at Southgate animal hospital as her health had significantly deteriorated…read more After examination it was determined she was not going to live very long and would experience more and more pain as the days went on. We were torn up and planned on going to visit and say goodbye and the. One of us would go sit with her through the end while wearing a mask. They said no. Really? We were allowed to visit outside by our car but then they would take the dog and out her down with no family present. Covid or not, that's heartless. Knowing what we know we could have work a mask. Gloves, goggles, whatever it took. They have a back room we could have entered and exited through the side door to not come into contact with anyone. We took her and went to Riverview Animal hospital. They had no appointments available but stayed late to help us out and kept a back room available. They allowed up to 2 people to be in there with our dog. One of us went in. It's hard enough putting down a loved one, but to abandon them when they are hurting and afraid seems inhumane. Thanks Riverview for having a heart. It worked out better too. We took her to get chicken nuggets and sit in the sun and watch her kid at the park for a while, right next door. A stress free final hour. I've questioned some stuff before during visits but they definitely get 5 stars for compassion in a time of dire need. And we greatly appreciate the personalized card mailed to us.

When researching options to get vital medical care for our neighborhood stray, my first impression…read moreof the ultra organized process for getting animals neutered at Paws would be mechanical or impersonal. My experience was so far from this first impression. My husband and I found a stay kitty in our neighborhood right before the temperature was about to drop. We started calling him Mortimer (Morty for shorty). We didn't have the heart to put him out, but he had a pretty nasty respiratory infection, and we didn't know what else might be wrong, so we set him up in our breezeway and made some appointments. (Much longer story, cut to getting him neutered at Paws....) As soon as Morty's cold cleared up, I went through the phone request process with Paws as they are the most affordable and one of our other kitties was treated there before adoption. The call was easy, wait for 9am on Monday, make the call, wait for your turn, leave a message, and hope you were fast enough to get a call back to schedule for the next week. All of the standard stuff went the standard way, but we added on Combo Testing and Morty tested positive for both FIV and FeLV. I got a call on the day of his surgery to give me a heads up before I came to pick him up and my heart sank. I was grateful that we kept him quarantined from our other three cats, but we had him for a few weeks at this point and had grown very fond of his sweet and playful personality. I was visibly upset when I got there for pickup and the staff at Paws were so compassionate and helped me through the process of getting him the necessary confirmation tests to get him placement with a sanctuary for cats with FeLV. The wait for the sanctuary was difficult as every day Morty is with us he has grown on our hearts, but we got a call last week that he has a spot and we're driving him there tomorrow, just in time for Christmas! Thank you Paws, for having a huge heart for these animals and for the humans that do their best to keep them safe, warm, fed, and happy. For those concerned, Morty has a regressive (dormant) from of the virus and could not have passed it to our cats, but there was no guarantee that it wouldn't become active one day. He was never in the same room, let alone sharing food bowls, litter boxes, or grooming.

Extremely Disappointed and Heartbroken - Beware Before Taking Your Pet Here…read more On March 31st, I took my 2-year-old dog to Paws Clinic in Taylor, Michigan for a routine neutering. I followed every single post-op instruction to the letter. I stayed home from work to monitor him 24/7, kept him in his cone at all times, administered sedatives, and only took him out on a short, supervised leash. Despite all of this, within just 6 days, his incision split open and began bleeding. There were no visible sutures, and his regular vet confirmed the incision had almost completely reopened. He had to be re-sedated and restitched at a significant cost. When I called the clinic to explain what had happened, they completely dismissed my concern, blaming it on "licking" even though the records also note "trauma" as a possible cause. They refused to take any accountability or offer any help with the vet bill--even after I explained how careful I had been, and that my dog was never out of his cone. The day after being restitched by his regular vet, my dog was walking normally again--with no pain or discomfort, unlike the full week after the original neutering. That alone raises red flags. I feel the clinic either botched the procedure or used low-quality sutures that didn't hold. Either way, this should have never happened. They showed zero compassion and made no effort to make things right. This isn't just about money--it's about accountability and the of our pets. I would never recommend this place to anyone who truly loves their animal. They put my dog through unnecessary pain and stress and then turned their back when something clearly went wrong.

I am writing this review with a heavy heart, as my recent visit to with my injured puppy, Nigel,…read morewas one of the most traumatic experiences I have ever had at a veterinary office. We arrived in a state of emergency--Nigel was bleeding profusely, and both of us were covered in blood. Unfortunately, the initial experience at the front desk was deeply distressing. I was met with coldness and a focus on payment processing that felt completely disconnected from the urgent, life-threatening situation unfolding before them. In a moment of panic and trauma, that lack of empathy was incredibly painful. However, I feel it is vital to acknowledge the medical team that stepped in. Once we moved past the front desk, the level of care shifted entirely. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the veterinary assistants and to Dr. Wheet. Your genuine empathy, professional support, and kindness during such a horrific process were my only source of comfort. Dr. Wheet and the medical staff are the sole reason I am giving this clinic four stars. They provided the high-quality, compassionate care that Nigel--and any pet owner in crisis--deserves. I truly hope the administrative team takes this feedback to heart, because the front-of-house experience does not currently reflect the high standard of care provided by your doctors and assistants.

For example -- one of my cats escaped. Even though she got vaccines less than a year ago to protect her against diseases she could catch if she escaped they're pushing to do more post her escape. They refused to do these vaccines without a test ($150) to make sure she was negative. I have another cat in the house that was due for her annual vaccines, and they refused to vaccinate her without a negative test as well ($150). So I said -- let's just test the cat that escaped, see if she got FIV, and then based on whether or not she's positive we won't need to test the other one here too in the appointment. That would've been logical and saved money. This is the kind of stuff they get you with -- hundreds of dollars of tests and medicines "just in case" and duplicative care. Obviously my cat was negative and the tech said she'd need to check with the vet to see if we didn't need to test the cat that never escaped for FIV. I said there's no need -- I'll take her elsewhere. Would not recommend. My roommate goes to 5 mile animal hospital in Redford and I'm scheduling an appointment there instead.

Had an 11am appointment today and took both my sweet orange kitties Leo and Zion in for their annual shots. I have to say that this place is the best as far as affordable pricing for 2 cats I'm impressed. I wanted to give them a second chance. This is the second time I've seen dr mani maheshwari and she's the best. Very nice professional thorough. Very kind toward me and my cats. Leo was very scared and upset that he was there and she had no problem doing everything she needed to do in his carrier as to not make the situation worse. This means a lot to me. The vet tech Shannon was amazing too! Thanks guys. My cats are doing very well because of you. Also note: dr maheshwari saved my cat Zion from an infection last yr in Dec and he's doing quite well! Thanks Dix. I will be back.

I waited one hour to be seen by a veterinarian who I would never in my life take my dog to see again. She was very rude and unapproachable. The veterinarian tech was very helpful and informative. this has a $25 for patient visit fee when I went to the front desk I was told that would not apply because that's only for patients who are being seen the first time and getting vaccinations where my was just getting a consultation and a check up and he was already up-to-date on all of his shots so the doctor did not approve the fee. Very unprofessional, if you're looking for someone to treat you like family then this is definitely not the place.
