The most satisfying kabob experience. Take fresh meat directly from the butcher himself. Grill it over charcoal in the back of the store with tomatoes and onions. Take all that and put it on top of bread and you have heaven on a styrofoam plate. I get a combination of filet, ribeye, and standard beef kabob. Wow! Is the best way to describe the food. This place is truly unique in several ways. For one, it's like a hidden gem. It does not really show in any way that it's a restaurant. The place only looks like a meat market. Secondly, the food is super fresh. You literally walk in, choose your fresh meat skewers from the butcher and then literally walk 100 feet to the back of the meat shop and enter a seating area with a charcoal grill being used to freshly cook your meat. Now while the place does need a remodeling because it's small and not the cleanliest looking - it all makes it up with the entire experience. I actually sorta like how it feels like I'm eating at a butcher shop because of how fresh the food was. The prices are also fair. I ordered a beef kabob skewer, kafta skewer, and chicken skewers along with their parsley salad (yum!) and hummus. The seasoning on everyone was nice and fresh. Plus, it was all for around $20 total. O-M-G this place is the definition of a hidden gem! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. it's a little small, so you might have to wait, but it's worth it. Today they were closing an hour early (at 5) and bf and I basically got there at 5. And even though they said it might be a 40 min wait, they were super nice and accommodating and managed to find us a table and fit us in! Let me just say..THE BEST kebabs for the most affordable price. At $2.50 a skewer you really can't beat it! They also have things like beef liver, kidney, and heart! Everything is grilled fresh in the back room right next to the tables! They also give you a whole pack of pita, garlic sauce, and a plate of grilled tomatoes and onions. Literally EVERYTHING was delicious. We tried the liver, heart, kidney, and chicken kebab. The chicken was probably the best white meat chicken kebab I've ever had. They managed to keep the chicken breast sooo juicy and tender (and it was marinated well). We also got a 1/2 pound of the raw meat. Now normally I haven't been a big fan of tartar, but THIS WAS REALLY GOOD. I would get it again in a heartbeat! They season the meat well and you can just tell the ground beef was super fresh! If you ever had to try raw meat, this is def the place! So I know it's a MEAT market, but they're parsley salad was ON POINT. It was probably the best parsley salad I've had. It was just tart enough and we'll seasoned. The hummus, parsley salad, and baba ganoush are $3 each and come in this tray - great portion for the price! You can't go wrong eating here! Absolutely amazing food and place. We went out of our way to stop here when leaving Detroit and I am so happy we did. The food was just excellent. They give you plenty of pita and some charred tomato and onion with your kebabs. Aside from the food being delicious, I cannot say enough about how nice everyone was. Honestly I'm very impressed and happy with my experience at Dearborn Meat Market (dmm). Came here for a quick lunch. You order everything from the cashier and you pay on your way out. Everything came in timely manner. Tried most of their meat options and I was very happy and content. Their Shakaf was fresh, and their kofta kabab was rich, tender and juicy. I also ordered their Makanak and it was full with spices and sour just like the ones you would eat in Lebanon, I wish they can serve fried with an omelet. I also ordered their chicken tawook and it was good too. I was craving the Raw Kibbeh so I ordered their raw meat tartar and I really liked it. The only thing that I didn't like much was their Baba Ghanouch or as its called everywhere else in the world motabal . When I walked in I thought it was a pretty good place and their Menu was a decent size for my liking. Once me and my Dad were sat down they brought us some Kafta and Filet Toka. The Kafta was very delicious and savory, I had dipped it inside of some Garlic Sauce which boosted the flavor. The Filet Toka was very tender and juicy and I had added some spices to it, by far the best Toka I have had in my entire lifetime. This place is so cool. They cook meat in front of you on a grill and it smells sooo good. The food is so fresh and it's cheap. It's a no frills places. They only have a very basic menu, but that's okay. And they randomly take Bitcoin. Lol. I would pick this place over the Butchers Grill in West Dearborn. I made that mistake once and not going to do that again! The food is excellent but I'm taking a star off due to how they run the place. The first time I went here was pre-covid and I felt like they were a bit rude to me. They were just very short and not welcoming. The second time was during covid. They were welcoming this time, but I was appalled that they did not practice social distancing. Obviously, no one forced me to stay there, so I should have gotten carry out. After this experience, I decided not to eat in a restaurant til it's actually safe (I only ate in two other restaurants prior to this). They have a tiny room with tables (which is where the grill is that they cook on). I called them beforehand to see if you could dine in, and to my surprise, they said yes. I assumed they severely limited the capacity in the already tiny room, but no. There was literally a person eating one foot behind me sitting at a table with multiple people eating. The seating area was small and but the food and scents of food being cooked around you is amazing! The parsley salad and chicken skewers were probably my favorite thing I tried! Honestly, we went here by accident looking for a place to buy raw meat to cook for dinner in a neighborhood we never go to. We decided to get some kabobs and skip cooking altogether. We got beef kabobs, chicken tawook and hummus. Each skewer had about 4-5 chunks of meat on it (like normal) and cost $2.50. They cook it on an open barbeque grill right in the room where you eat. Everything was so good! We practically licked our plates clean. The beef was everyone's personal favorite. A couple reviews label the place as a "dump" because it is small and a little rough around the edges. I have found in my lifetime often the best and most authentic places to get ethnic foods are in places like this... if you don't like the atmosphere, get it to go ;) It is so worth it! read more

It feels like a little secret. Tucked away in the back of a meat market are 3 or 4 tables where you can eat. 2. The eats. Or should I say meats? Ultra fresh (because duh) and prepared right in front of you. 3. Yes, I said prepared right in front of you. Check my pics, I'm not lying.. don't drool by the way - really, it's not cute. 4. Extremely tasty and well-prepared meats.. in a super simple way, on a mesquite (I believe) grill. My favorites were the beef kafta and chicken tawook, but all the others (yes, we tried all the non-organ meats) were deliciously juicy. 5. Dat hummus.. Fresh, topped with plenty of olive oil, paprika and some parsley. Like I mentioned they have organ meats; liver, kidney and heart kabobs are available if that's your jam. Aside from those there are beef kabobs, chicken tawook, kafta, and mekanek. Because this isn't a restaurant per say the sides are limited and include hummus, bread, toum and salad. If I could give Dearborn Meat Market a hundred stars I would. I think Yelp needs to make a new badge titled, "Places I would eat from for my last meal if placed on death row," because Dearborn Meat Market would definitely be on my list. You just can't replicate the level of fresh quality meat and the expert cooking over burning coals anywhere except Dearborn Meat Market. If you've never had it, I can guarantee its a meal like you've never had before. The seasonings and marinades on the meat (which happens to be some of the freshest you'll ever have) is out of this world. What really separates DMM from the rest of the universe is that they cook the meat over burning coals! This is how our caveman ancestors did it, and this is how we should be doing it! Why don't more places do it? Probably because its a massive pain in the butt and it takes an expert to tend to the coals and to cook the meat over the coals. Most places just precook the meat and throw it on the (gas) grill to give a nice char and send you on your way, not at DMM. I am shocked and appalled that Dearborn Meat Market hasn't gotten more love. Granted its kind of out of the way, but if I can drive from Ann Arbor for it, you can drive there too! Its worth it! On top of that, the prices are so cheap you would swear they are going to call the police on you once you leave for stealing for all the awesome food you get for only a couple bucks (and not the grammar police for the longest sentence ever)! Each skewer is only $2 and they grill it right away and serve it with grilled onions, tomatoes, and pita bread. For $4 I had a great meal. I also ordered hummus and salad.
