Berry and Son's really is As good as it gets! This man is the real deal, Evander Hollyfield! A true butcher in every sense, Roni has a passion for what he does and it show in his work. This is definitely THE place to shop for meat in Dearborn. By far the best selection of everything you would ever want (brain anybody?), always so fresh and slaughtered and butchered by the man himself. Need a special steak for a special night, call Roni ahead of time and he will make sure you have an incredible cut. He really takes pride in his work and goes way beyond to ensure every customer is treated like a friend and leaves happy. Ridiculous prices too, I'm telling you! Looked online on my phone and found Ronnie Berry shop Let me tell you this place is super clean and the people were so nice and friendly the service was great and the ribeye steaks was so good tender and some of best beef we had without paying top dollar. Ronnie Berry and Sons Halal Meat is the cleanest butcher shop I've ever entered, the smell of smoked beef pepperoni wafting throughout, complemented by the sight of freshly slaughtered and cut meat. Warning: Don't go when you're hungry! Ronnie was so nice when I called to inquire about their source of beef and lamb and welcomed me to visit his store so we could meet and talk in person. He said he buys the sheep live, which are slaughtered in-house (in the Detroit location) and cut by them as well; many of these sheep are raised naturally and humanely. Due to high demand, the beef these days is bought from several sources, including Creekstone Farms, which have high standards for their halal beef that made international news in their case against the USDA, as well as Excel/XL (spelling?) in Canada, about which I couldn't find anything online. He reassured me that he is very careful about where he buys it from. Their meat is never frozen when sold to customers as opposed to restaurants, which do request frozen meat if you see it on the counter. He supplies halal beef pepperoni to many local pizza restaurants and has been around for decades, having grown up nearby. I met his brother and sons who were busy serving customers, and he gave me a quick tour of the back to see their quality and freshness. The store had a very nice vibe to it. For example, Ronnie's brother, who was cutting beef steaks and sharpening his knife with swift yet artistic moves, noticed a customer's son looking at him so started to engage him in a friendly way, educating him about why blood is red. The ground beef I bought was ground fresh right in front of me because they never have it ready and cost $4.75/lb. The lamb loin steaks were from a lamb slaughtered the day before and were $6.99/lb; I made some that night with only olive oil, salt, and pepper on the stove, and they were delicious! It is slightly more expensive than what's sold in the area, but I was completely sold and look forward to regularly supporting this local, family-owned business that holds itself to such high standards. read more
