Umm?!?! How on earth are you going to give me beyond rotten turnips and pickles on the side of my falafel, the onion and parsley/onion mix was decent but come on, I know it's cheap eats but for the guy and girl in the back to talk about how slick she is in Arabic like I don't understand what they're saying is funny and pathetic, she charged me an extra $1.99 each for a tub of garlic and tahini bc the ones she said were .75 were too small for my DOZEN falafel, how can I share?!? My whole total was a measly $11 for a dozen of falafel, a plate of rotten turnips pickles and parsley 2 mini containers of garlic and tahini and 2 huge containers of garlic and tahini that were both sour and old tasting, I kept my mouth shut and didn't call them to complain and figured they lost a long time customer bc why would I even go back when their packaged items are all dusty and expired and flies all over their produce, in the whole produce isle I didn't see one fruit or vegetable that was edible and everyone was trying to buy stuff but they were walking away after trying to pick through. Way better markets in the area. Skip this place if you care about what goes into your body, threw the turnips pickles garlic and tahini straight into the trash upon opening, ate 2 of 12 falafels out of hunger, then threw the rest away bc what would make me think it was ok to eat them after everything else was rotten, pathetic third world vibes in this market, defiantly has gone down hill, hope they shut down and use that big space for an actual edible market read more

I haven't shopped here in over a year, and I thought I could just run in and pick up a few things. I was here nearly an hour, but not because I had a hard time finding things. I was blown away to find that nothing has changed. Think about that: COVID broke the world, but Super Greenland held the line on prices, while still offering fantastic variety and quality. You can still get a bag of 8 of the freshest pitas you've ever eaten for $1.49: they're so fresh the bag still has steam in it. The baba ganoush is smoky and freshly made for only $3.49 a pound. Other deli offerings are similarly priced, and high quality. I'm not exaggerating when I say they have hundreds of spices and seasonings. I don't think twice about spending $4 for 1 ounce of cinnamon sticks at the supermarket; here, $4 gets you 6 ounces of cinnamon sticks. They have an entire aisle devoted to pickled things here. If it can be pickled, they have it here. And, do I have to tell you how much cheaper it is here than anywhere else? Oh, and do you like baklava? Of course you do. The variety of that alone is also impressive. I sometimes forget that this is also a regular grocery store. The produce is high quality, and nicely priced. With all the phenomenal middle eastern things here, I'm strangely disappointed that they also have boring things like Froot Loops, Ragu pasta sauce, and other mundane things. It's sort of like the opposite of the "international aisle" at a normal supermarket. I gave Super Greenland a great review before, but I actually think I sold them short. read more

Wacky Wednesdays and the prices are crazy cheap!! But seriously i can shop fot an hour an spend 15 dollars. Limes or lemons can be anywhere from 2 for $1 or 10 for $1. Seasonal fruit always at rock bottom prices. They have a meat counter and a counter that does fresh juice and fruit cups. They also have a hot food bar I've eaten from a few times. The falafel is so tasty and a great deal at 12 for around 3 dollars. The small breads are delicious. As is the rice and shwarmas ive had. They also have premade fattoush and tabbouli in the refrigerated grocery section. Be sure to check the pickled area for olives, grape leaves and turnips. Pick up regular staples like milk and bread. And then check the close out deals by the cash registers. An hour has gone by and i spent 15 bucks and had a whole experience. I do purchase the produce from here for my nutrition classes because the prices are so economical and i can find many things i cannot find in a large commercial chain. read more

Four stars for the grocery/deli area. Meat sold here is fresh and good quality. Pre-seasoned kafta patties area on point. I don't like their sliced turkey though so usually get salami sandwich meat from here instead. As for the restaurant, I've only tried their rotisserie and falafels so can't speak to other items. Falafels were really bad. Just pass on them. First time I got the rotisserie it was really good and comes with all the fixings like pickles and garlic sauce however second time around the chicken was overdone and dry inside. Maybe we got a well done chicken but it just ruined my experience at Greenland. If I'm shopping here and in a rush I may get the chicken but I'll make sure I'm not getting an overdone piece read more

I stopped by for fresh fruits and veggies, Janis C. had me running over there at the mention of cheap in her recent review. I was in the area anyway and I love to multitask. I stayed for the rest of the stock. Service in here was hit and miss. The counter people were slow and not terribly friendly but the rest of the staff is very pleasant. I liked that it was pretty organized and that they carry some less common items. I must have come on a bad day though as I was subjected to every brat in Dearborn and their inattentive or overindulgent parents. Sigh. Not the stores fault but I left with a massive headache. Stocked up on citrus, avocadoes, lots of stuff from the olive bar, some bread and baked goods too of course. Took a bunch of homemade salads and hummus to go. Their rotisserie meats are good and made my life easier. They had good tea, not the stale I usually end up with when I deviate from my regular tea supplier, which made me happy. They have: - SUPER cheap spices (talking like less than $4 for a quarter pound of cloves) - endless supply of lentils, teas, and rices - no booze - all kinds of flower flavored syrups - exotic jams and cookies - some really strange fruit/vegetables - sunflower seeds BY THE POUND - at least 20 kinds of olives, all for $4.99 a pound or less (green ones were $2.99 a pound) - pickled things! - all sorts of German and English chocolates - extreeeeemely cheap produce (that's so ripe, but probably won't last long) I'm talking like 21 limes for a $1, $1.29/lb plums, 9 prickly pear fruits for $1, $0.99/lb green almonds, I mean... cheap. I went here and I lost Vikram. As I stared at the piles of sunflower seeds he wooshed off to go tongue waving at the mangoes and sugar cane. I bought loquoy? Something with an L that looks like a cross between a kumquat and a persimmon and tastes exactly like no other fruit I've ever had? I also bought green almonds. I've never ever had a green almond before. You pop them open in your mouth and eat the seed. Tastes nothing like an almond as you know it. They have a fresh juice bar there with coffees, and a pastry case and a butcher that looked really popular. Pretty cool place. Pretty cool experience. I stand out like a sore thumb, but whatever. Bizarre Foods Detroit episode continues to Super Greenland Market to try their raw kibbeh. Ordering back at the counter was a bit tough. There was a language barrier and we weren't too sure if we were getting the correct meat. I asked for the raw kibbeh and received some blank stares. After speaking with a few people behind the counter and constant reassurance from them that yes, this is the one you can eat raw, we gambled. Well, I'm still here to write about it, so I guess it was the correct one. Thanks so the butchers. Having raw kibbeh takes a leap of faith, trust, and goes against your typical teachings of cooking meat. However, we eat carpaccio and don't think twice about it, so what's the difference? The members of my party did try it, I give them credit, but after a bit or so, it was enough for them. I can only palate so much of it as well, but what I had of it, it's very good. If you've never tried it, I recommend it. It has the wonderful soft and mushy texture, but also grainy at the same time from the cracked wheat, mint, and other spices mixed with it. It has a lot of spices, not spicy, but spices. The spices and the wheat give it much more flavor than if it were by itself, but it really adds the extra layer of texture of not so much crunchy, but gritty-like. It's better than it sounds, I promise. Ultimately, eating it raw is an experience. Also, part of the experience is watching how they convert this glob of ground meat into this presented dish with a whole new color from the spices. Watch them stir the meat, adding spices, stirring, adding, stirring, shaping, etc... You get the point. They are masters of their work. I would have given them four stars if it wasn't for the language barrier that worried us all if we were really getting what we were asking for. We bought from breaded and fried cauliflower, zucchini, yellow rice with vegetables, grilled chicken breast, and fried potato slices. This is not our first time here by far, but we love coming here! It's foodie heaven! They also had cheap prices on cases of water and produce, dressings and marinades, oil, and other cooking essentials that are much more expensive in my city. A must visit!! Super Greenland is the middle eastern mecca grocery store of Dearborn. They have just about anything you'd want to make a middle eastern dish. The produce section is very cheap (although not the freshest) and there are many more options than nearby stores. My wife drags me here whenever she wants to make juice. There is a pretty good selection of peppers, cucumbers and apples. The peppers we like and can't find many places are here. They sale raw kofta (minced beef with spices) for home cooking which saves us a lot of time. There is also a nice spice and lentil section as well as a nice cheese and nut section. The staff have always been very friendly to us. I've never had an issue with the cashiers and the lines move quickly. If you haven't been to Super Greeenland, you need to check it out now. I only wish they had an in-house samoon/pita bakery. And the parking lot can be a bit of a mess. read more

Ok, so I couldn't tell you what grocery items one could buy here. I go for the SUSHI! There is a hot/cold food counter and sushi bar located in the back of the market. Ummm, honestly, I can't even tell you what other food items are sold at the counter. The sushi is very good! I suggest a carry out as this market can be very crowded. The atmosphere isn't at all conducive for dining although there are a few tables available. The chef regularly prepares pre-made rolls if you're in a hurry or the sushi bar is closed. I usually wait for super fresh food. The menu is quite extensive - lots of variety to choose from and the prices can't be beat. I usually get two rolls for right around $15, depending on what I order. I was sort of amazed to stumble upon this place. I would've never guessed to find great sushi at a Middle Eastern grocery store. I would venture to say that this place offers the best sushi I've had in the Detroit area. read more

Cheap vegetables? Dirt cheap is more like it. I didn't believe my eyes. More than once I had to confirm what my brain thought my eyes were reading. Beyond the vegetables, there is more to stop and shop for here. We found the arabic tea that we so enjoyed at lunch. Along with fresh ground arabic coffee. If you have not had either of these, try them. Complement with the baklava's offered and you have a refreshing treat. I found kefir cheese in the dairy cooler. This is similiar to cream cheese, but healthier as it contains probiotics. The meat and poultry counter holds a particular interest to me. The beef appeared to be of high grade and nicely marbeled. Same with the poultry. Nice sized parts and whole chickens. The prices listed are comparable to major chain stores. A return trip is in the near future. read more

But for the price once you're exposed to purchasing produce at east Dearborn grocers in general you can't go back to franchise grocery store rip-offs! Ten lemons for a dollar, bell peppers rock bottom prices, grapes priced fairly, etc. Parsley bunches a dollar! Unusual produce items are found as well. I'm not a big olive fan and as a rule I avoid open foods on a 'bar', but if you love olives they seem to have quite a variety to choose from! Juices and cereals very over priced and limited selection. Some specific kinds of cheese are reasonably priced. All kinds of nuts about and the specialty chocolates and sweets are fun and cool to try out. Dry goods such as rice, lentils etc. ample and well stocked. Great prices. As others have said the deli counter 'service' can be weird and inconsistent. They have the number pull thing that's never used? Sometimes you have to fight your way to the front of the line and often communication is poor. I love the mixed rice w/ chicken items. The fried fish is the best price in town if you have a taste for that. I've never purchased butchered meat there, as there does not often seem to be anyone at that counter to serve you. I go else were in east Dearborn for my meats. However, I appreciate how Greenland cleans/ wash down their meat areas at the time of closing nightly as I've shopped there late. Very clean and well maintained. Customer service can be spotty and 'disinterested' sometimes, but I have informed many people from Detroit and elsewhere to shop here, and I feel service has improved. We received crappy treatment from 2 of the 3 people at the hot table in the back. Two of us are of non-middle eastern ethnicity. No idea if that influenced our experience. They had a good okra + tomato dish which we enjoyed with some falafel. It tasted good, and we were going to buy a bunch of falafel and other goods for a party we were about to attend. Guys, be careful, employees working behind the counters in this business are scammers. they steel customers' money. They fake the weight. If you ask for 5lbs, they weight 4lbs and they charge you for 5lbs. When this happened to me, I talked to the manager who seemed not concerned and he did not try to fix the problem, giving the impression they are complicit. The owner is aware too of this problem. I love ethnic markets, especially ones that are busy, and offer a lot of ingredients to a local population. For me, this the next best thing to traveling to explore different cultures. They have a hot food counter, deli/cold food, olive bar, sushi (new) and of course, fruits, vegetables, dry/bulk goods, groceries, frozen, etc. I read other reviews, and I appreciated learning that their fruits are very inexpensive, but that they usually have a short shelf life after that. When I visited yesterday, I noticed that this is true especially if you are used to shopping to a Whole Foods or Plum Market. Their vegetables, including herbs, looked to be very fresh. I go there for the fresh juice (99 cents to 2.99)and their tiny spinach pies (50 cents each), but I always pick up middle east faves like tea, tahini, pomegranates. They also have Toum (1.99), that amazing white garlic paste that is served in tiny amounts at most restaurants. Ok, mostly I am obsessed with the hot bar and the little bit of everything you can try. If the person helping doesn't speak much English, just point. If you are an impatient person, you might be overwhelmed. Their parking lot is pretty small and a challenge to navigate, but them's the breaks. While you are in town, there's plenty of bakeries and restaurants to visit! (best sushi in the area? Its kinda like thrift shopping so you might have to pick through but the finds are always worth it. Also at the deli counter you can get these super cheap small pizzas. If you want some authentic hummus or tabouli visit go there. I'll agree with some of the other reviews that the main grocery store with prepackaged foods is a a bit over priced. I went out to Super Greenland because of the olive bar. Very Middle Eastern---most of the ladies had head scarves. Without even trying I found dates from Saudi Arabia, dessert bars made with hazelnuts and chocolate from Poland and olives of all types from who knows where. I even got some pickled mangoes which ARE VERY STRONG. Very extensive selection of produce and grains and seeds. Made me think of a Middle Eastern WalMart--- not as big but a lot of selection of a lot of things. I will be back for sure because I just checked out a little bit. Prices very reasonable. Only negative was that it was crowded and parking was a little crazy. read more

Come here a lot for cheap produce on Wednesdays when I miss Eastern Market on Saturdays. Not the best quality that day, theyre probably cheap because theyre going to restock with fresher produce but the prices are unbeatable, usually do all my produce shopping for less than 40 and have a refrigerator full of food! Hot food at the little eating area in the back is pretty good, also pretty expensive when you buy by weight, but they do have some items that are relatively cheap. If I get a full meal there I usually spend around 20 bucks, and I mean its a grocery store, not a restaurant. Were not talking shrimp and oysters, were talking rice and falafel cooked in bulk. Kind of ridiculous. Oh, and their olive selection is pretty nice, and they have really good freshly made pita that's always warm, seems like theyre always making it or bringing it in. I have shopped at the Greenland market farther down Warren for years, and I have tried other Arabic markets from time to time, but this place is the best! The produce is gorgeous and cheap, the hot food bar is amazing, the olive bar is to die for (as far as selection goes. You can find better olives elsewhere, but not this kind of variety). I live in West Michigan but try to shop here as often as I can... (Note, the parking is somewhat crazy, I will definitely grant the previous reviewer that). read more

Other than that they have a solid selection and some very hard-to-find things at unreasonable prices with horrendous service. The trick to this place is to go there for produce only. I will never mind driving all the way to Dearborn and deal with the traffic and the funny Arabic store names just to get 11 limes for $1. The only thing that I hate about this place is that they don't have beers or alcohol. It will be awesome if they would carry some kind of middle eastern alcohol. But it seems like they are serious Muslims. The staff is cool and helpful. They helped me a lot identifying some spices. The pita breads section is not that good though. The overall quality for the produce is hit or miss. I got some bad blueberries once, which is the only case that I can remember. read more

Fresh cheap food. Did I mention that? The only place with cheaper groceries I've ever been to is probably Randazzo's. But I was very impressed with Greenland. It has a really good assortment of spices. And a ton of hookah paraphernalia behind the counter. I might just try some of that stuff one day. Just another reason to visit East Dearborn, as if the hundreds of great restaurants and bakeries weren't enough. I bought a bunch of food and groceries and spent less than 25 bucks. One dollar for a huge cantaloupe that was super sweet. This place is highly recommended for good quality and low cost fresh food. Check your stuff though. Came here from Maryland for the first time and i just had to stock up on halal food and cheeses and za3taar. They have so much variety and all the staff are friendly and helpful, not to mention beautiful mashallah. If you're looking for Lebanese food to buy in bulk, this is the place. Went here this afternoon to pick up a few more items after hitting up Papaya Market earlier in the day. The parking lot was jammed and people we parked like A holes hogging up 2 spots and/or sticking out any old way. I found some pretty good deals though! I went straight to the produce section but there were MANY grocery isles, mostly Middle Eastern groceries, which I didn't have time to check out. Some of the things I found were kiwis 7 for $1, Broccoli florets 5 for $1, lemons 10 for $1, etc. Some of the fruits were the kind you have to use in the next day or two but I think they're perfect for throwing in the juicer. This was my first time visiting this place and overall I was pretty satisfied! I'll be back and I will also check out their two other locations. read more

An amazing Arabic market. Best assortment of Mideastern food I've seen in the US. Wonderful pricing too. They actually carried hard to find items like fresh dates (not the brown, dried ones everyone usually sees) which were super sweet and delicious.
