Without question, Matt Queen is the best yoga instructor we have ever encountered. Anyone lucky enough to encounter his patience, kindness and deep knowledge of the subject has given themselves a precious and lifelong gift. Also, he can show it himself, which sadly we frequently find in places, even expensive yoga retreats. I think he does only private sessions, and may only teach teachers, but the trip out there is worth it if you can get a session.

Matt and Cherene are experts and mighty fine people to boot. They teach Iyengar yoga, which teaches you how to use perfect alignment in yoga poses. Now, I know that many people who do yoga think of Iyengar as being a boring beginners yoga. Maybe in some studios, but not here. They do have a beginners class, which I started off doing. It was a totally non-threatening, safe, supportive environment, and I learned to do the basics the right way. Then I progressed to more advanced poses - very challenging! Class sizes are small. It's very much a community, but not one that excludes newcomers. Most of the people who go there are North Bend locals. They are very friendly people, and I never once felt judgment or competition. Likewise, Matt and Cherene are very welcoming. If this is your first time doing yoga, don't be scared. You will be in good hands. During a particularly difficult and recent situation, and following a search for such an intervention, I reached out to Sole Journey Yoga for service in guided meditation, and Dani's emphasis on breathing, first and foremost, made an incalculable difference - one neither I nor my nervous system, which was a complete wreck at that moment on I-10 in the barren Texas desert, will ever forget or be ungrateful.
