Here in Fernley we get some awful winds and dust was just seeping through our old windows (circa 1997 windows) so we REALLY DO appreciate DeBell for their awesome product! These windows also come with not only a life-time warranty, but the warranty transfers to the next owner of this property if we decide to up and move someday. I have owned and lived in 10 houses in my life and have never had any problems with windows in any of these houses till I bought the house I am currently in last year, with debell windows. Today I had someone come to the house to tell me why I am having a terrible time opening these windows. Come to find out that these windows are not only very poorly mfg but also were not installed correctly. My only option is to replace these windows. If I needed to exit this house in an emergency, it would be impossible for me. read more

Buyer beware--proceed with this company at your own risk. We purchased windows from DeBell for a previous home in the early 2000's and were so pleased that when it was time to replace the windows in our current home (5 years ago), we purchased without hesitation. We didn't even get other bids. What a huge mistake we will regret for the rest of our lives. When a window broke (we can no longer open it), we were told it wasn't covered under their warranty and to take it up with the manufacturer. Now the lifting edge of one double hung windows is broken, eventually it will break all the way making it impossible to open. We have several windows that are so extremely hard to open and close that eventually (as we age) I anticipate we may not be able to use. The two big windows in our living room were installed so poorly, they aren't even level. Two windows are warped in the middle (the middle is hanging lower than the edges), I anticipate these will become inoperable any day now. What DO they warranty?? What a huge, very expensive mistake. If we weren't still paying for these POS's we'd replace them all right now. read more

I purchased the forever coat paint for my home 2 years and 10 months ago. This was SUPER expensive and I was happy with it until the paint started to peal off in chunks! I have called and requested a response several times with no response. This is going to become a litigation issue as the warranty clearly states that the first course of action is contacting DeBell directly. my only experience was working for them. I worked for them for a little over a year. I tried my best to please the owners, but there was no pleasing them. I have worked in the workforce for 50 years and never worked for anybody as abusive as these people... there's so much more I could tell you, but I wouldn't want to sound too petty. I made the appt for the free consultation for the next day and made sure I was home. The company no called/no showed me. And has yet to reach back out to either apologize or reschedule. I just had a man come for a scheduled quote to replace a front residental door. The literal 1st words out of his mouth were, "you should use Home Depot, we don't sell doors less than $5000" didnt ask me my budget or try to sell me anything. Just plain disappointing. I tried to stopped in here three years ago when I needed to replace the original windows in the old house. But all the signs said open and all the doors were locked at 10:30 in the morning. On a Friday afternoon I returned to see about a new slider for my patio, again it was difficult to find an open door. Finally an employee came out and ask if I needed help. Yes, I'm trying to come in and check on a replacement patio slider. He was condescending- he acted like I couldn't afford his "high end" windows and suggested I check out Home Depot. My mom, brother and sister in law all work for a window company in the Midwest, I guess I asked too many knowledgeable questions for him. And he didn't seem to want to deal with my HOA. Nope, won't be giving them a third chance. By the way, I did use Home Depot last time and they did a great job. Heading back there today to get my slider there. read more

Update: About 3 weeks ago my husband received a phone call from a DeBell tech stating he was on the way but running a few minutes late. We had NO APPOINTMENT scheduled with DeBell on that day. This was the first time being contacted from the company in MONTHS! My husband told the tech not to come, considering he was out of town that day for a business trip, and advised the tech to have the office call us to schedule an appropriate appointment. Please use our awful and continuing experience from hell as a bellwether before you hire this company for ANYTHING. In summary (of our still on going and over a year long struggle with them) we had called for a quote on siding for the west wall of our house. A salesman came, measured the wall and convinced us to go with a special coating that will help protect from further weather damage. We paid the $5000 deposit of the full $10,000 price. Then we waited. Weeks and months went by. Every excuse was throw at us as to why the job had not been started, the weather, short staffing, lack of communication and on it went. Finally they sent a gentleman over to color match our paint. He chunked parts of our walls off in order to get paint samples, he didn't even do it in areas where there would be the new coating. Why a paint matching app wasn't used is beyond me, now we have chunks out of our walls. After that again nothing, no start date, no communication, no updates. Then we received a call from someone from the company telling us the salesman who quoted us was wrong. We needed to pay thousands more for the job to be done due to the size of the wall, that was measured and figured during our first quote. They said the salesman was an idiot and didn't know what he was doing but now this was our problem due to the wall size. We called back after some thought on the matter and said we would like to cancel the job altogether and get our deposit back. Then we were passed from person to person and finally after a struggle was put through to the owner/manager who literally said she could not comment on our request to cancel the job because she had no idea what was going on and didn't understand the situation. We have been back and forth with her for weeks. On a Wednesday when we managed to get a hold of her she said work on our job was to begin on Thursday. We had not recieved one email or phone message saying that was happening. Funnily enough that day 2 buckets of paint and 2 paint cans were dropped at our house. Nothing more, no explinations, just a paint drive by. We again asserted that we do not want the wall done by this company and we would like our money back. The manager/owner then snipped that due to our contract we would be giving up our deposit. Which I understand contracts are serious but in considering no work has been done in over a year, a mis-handeled quote, asking for more money and sitting on our deposit while no work has taken place should give us some leway points as to why we want our deposit back.This has been a nightmare of waiting, arguing, dealing with horrendous and rude customer service and now blatant theivery. We are now having to get the contractors board involved and are having to take legal action to get our deposit back. PLEASE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE. This company is disorganized, poorly run, and completely inept. Never ever use them for anything unless you would like to end up screwed over in the end. read more

We are so thrilled with how our new windows make our condo so beautiful!! Melissa and Bill D'Andrea came to our condo and did a presentation. They showed us the options and recommendations for which windows would be the best for our changing weather in Incline Village. They had great advice for us!! When it was time for the installation, the foreman Ahko and his crew were thorough and so professional! They even took extra care to make sure our cat Fergus was not disturbed or frightened. We had 27 windows replaced and the job was completed in 2 and 1/2 days. One of those days, we had a snow storm, and they continued to work through it. The finished product is gorgeous, and we already notice that the new windows make a difference in the temperature of the condo as the days are getting colder. Most home improvement contractors in Reno/Sparks appear to only be available Monday-Friday, so it was nice to stop by their storeroom on Saturday morning to get a quote. The gentleman was nice and scheduled an appointment for the following week. That's about where it ends... On the third attempt, we finally had an appointment, someone finally came out, albeit 30 mins late. We're looking to replace a back door. The replacement was quoted at $5k to do the work and patch stucco, but owner was unwilling to provide an itemized quote. His justification: "I've been in this business for more than 30 years, I don't need to." Well, if you're going to pull a figure like $5,000 out of thin air, I want a justification. I'm not shelling out that kind of money on a whim. The owner didn't even have the catalog of available doors when he arrived. Completely unprepared. And if you work for a company, especially the owner, dress the part; answer your customer's questions with respect and don't talk down to your customers (potential or otherwise). Let's not get started on the fact that they all but asked outright if I had my husband's permission to spend that kind of money. I don't know how the state of your marriage (none of my business), but don't you dare imply, that as a woman, I need permission to do anything. As a couple, we make decisions together (may not say the same for you). On top of that, my husband works all day, but my job allows me to work some time from home. I now understand why you were so keen on him being home. Don't assume - you don't know if I'm single, my husband is deployed, etc. You may have been in business for more than 30 years, but it doesn't show. The actual price quote for my window replacement was a multiple of the low prices Debell advertises in their extensive newspaper advertising. After doing a little research I discovered that I could replace my existing windows (with Anderson windows) at less than half of Debell's price. Debell does a very slick rehearsed presentation in the home using window samples and what I thought was a somewhat gimmicky heat lamp set up. The presentation is followed by the standard high pressure sales tactic of "buy now or lose the special price discounts available only if you sign our contract now". Customer reluctance is followed by a modest price reduction and further attempts at persuasion to buy immediately. Debell's windows appear to be a superior well-constructed heavy duty highly durable product, but the very substantial increment in cost over other excellent products such as Anderson is not justifiable based on my research on window replacement options and costs. read more

No stars. I called to make an appointment for a siding bid at my home. I was asked if my "husband" would be there for the appointment! I informed them I do not have a husband and even if I did, this is my damn house and I pay the bills/mortgage/upkeep. WHen the man (apparently the owner) showed up, he asked many personal questions about my credit score, what I owed on the home, etc. His bid consisted of this: "It won't be $20,000.00." I never did receive a bid. I did receive many follow up calls. I finally told them to stop calling. I just received a call from someone at DeBell and I got the same run around as others, "Your husband will need to be there for the quote." When I informed him that my husband doesn't actually care to make any of these types of decisions (we have a contracting company - so we are not uninformed buyers) and that I (the wife) have made all of the remodeling decisions and payments myself, he was stunned - as if a woman could even do such a thing! We hired this company to replace several doors and windows in our house. They took a couple of months to get the doors in, and then did not install what we ordered. That is, they left off screens that we had specifically discussed. Also, they left the outside of the doors unfinished. They had to remove some of the house around the doors to get the doors in and were supposed to redo the stucco facing. They left us high and dry on that for several weeks now. In addition, the colors of the door facing in the interior does not match our woodwork, though this was also discussed extensively. read more

Had 3 windows installed and they leaked more than the ones I had replaced. Manager was condescending and threatening on the phone. Worst customer service I have ever seen by any company. Oh DeBell, for all the horn tooting you did, you have yet to deliver on the quality you bragged sooo much about. Our first set of doors arrived Jan 1st damaged, with a big chunk missing on the inside of one door, and the paint chipping, flaking, and peeling. Ok, things happen, we aren't unreasonable people...second set arrives with another substandard paint job but at least there were no chunks missing, oh but wait, they aren't the right size and don't fit...third set arrives today, and sweet jesus they are rubbish, the frame has a split along the top, and the paint is haphazardly slapped on with roller marks, and completely missing around corners. I'm going to go out on a limb and say when the 4th set arrives they will also be rubbish. There is a reason their doors cost a medium sized fortune, and it's not stellar quality, it's to pay for all the wasted doors they go through to get it right. Of course we have yet to see if they can get it right. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, but this has felt like nothing more than a scam.
