ALL of the competent, professional staff has abruptly LEFT (who can blame them, and it tells you everything you need to know). At least ten texts and e-mails telling me to be on time for my 8:00 am appointment (or pay a $60 fee), yet NO ONE from the staff on duty until after 8 (while three patients cooled our heels in the waiting room). BEWARE: Deborah Beatty will take zero responsibility when her dentists cause thousands of dollars worth of damage through malpractice. She will refer you to their insurance company, which brags on their website about how many claims they deny. In 2019, I had resorption below the gumline in a molar. The dentist at DB expected it would be necessary to lower the gumline to properly seal it with a crown (after a root canal). DB Dentristy assigned me a new dentist when that one left, and when I came back after the root canal, that new dentist put a crown on without lowering the gumline, so the resorptive defect was not sealed. It continued to eat away at the tooth until 2025 when another practitioner realized what was going on, and told me the tooth had never been properly sealed. I will be lucky to keep that tooth as the damage is now extensive. DB Dentistry refuses to take any accountability. read more

I have a terrible dental phobia due to extremely sensitive teeth and have often postponed cleanings for years with previous dental practices. Dr Beaty and Bethany have always taken care of me so that I feel comfortable. They make sure I am numb enough to be comfortable, they are extremely patient and make sure to go at my pace. I just had my sixth month clean up and the experience was great! I felt extremely safe from start to finish. They have implemented many Covid precautions and make sure you are aware of them. This is my second cleaning with them and I have finally found the best dentist! If I could give zero stars I would. Backgound: In 1992 (at 9 years old) I was in a bike accident, which resulted in needing a root canal on my front right tooth, tooth number 8. Fast forward 20 years: the tooth was slightly off color, which made me slightly self conscious. After a lot of prodding by Dr. Blaine of DB Dentistry, I agreed to a porcelain crown. She cut down my natural tooth, so a crown could be placed over it. Fast forward another five months: while in Mexico, on a beach for a friend's wedding, the porcelain crown fell out. Lost FOREVER in the sand. Once I arrived back in Chicago from Mexico, I immediately called the head of DB Dentistry, Dr. Beaty, and demanded to be seen as soon as possible. As I'm sure any of you can empathize, I had just lost my front tooth - I was upset! She agreed to see me and when I asked about payment I was told not to worry about it, they would take care of it. When I went in for my appointment, I was delayed by about ten minutes due to CTA construction. I was told that because I was late I would have to wait an hour for the next appointment. At this point, I was beyond upset. I had just lost my front tooth/porcelain crown on a beach in Mexico while at a wedding (a "permanent crown" that was placed in my mouth five months ago, TO THE DATE, no less). Once I finally saw Dr. Beaty, she immediately chastised me for being rude to her business staff. I was told my toxic mood was affecting everyone and she wouldn't stand for it. She hastily removed the glasses they put on you to shield your eyes from their work lamp so she "could see me while she was talking to me." Apparently, I should be thankful that she "took the time to see me on her lunch." I apologized for being upset and at that point I just broke down and sobbed through the rest of the appointment. As Dr. Beaty was examining me, she let me know that "no crown would have ever held long term because there isn't enough natural tooth left." My natural tooth was cut down by her partner, Dr. Blaine. So, Dr. Blaine had cut off far too much surface area which didn't leave enough room for the crown to adhere. Dr. Beaty proceeded to prep my gums for a temporary crown. This involved cutting back some of my gums around what was left of my front tooth. I was informed not once, not twice but three times that she would not be administering anesthesia to the site before cutting. I obtained copies of my records and Dr. Beaty conveniently left out the part that her partner had cut away too much of the natural tooth and she also lied stating that I requested no anesthesia before she began to work on my mouth. I eventually was told by an endodontist (root specialist) that I was probably never a suitable candidate for a porcelain crown and the prognosis for my tooth was literally hopeless. In the last several months I have endured a painful extraction and bone graft procedure to prepare for an eventual implant and I currently have a fake front tooth on a retainer that I wear constantly while my mouth is healing for the implant procedure. Due to the severity of the deterioration of the roots of my front tooth, the implant process will not be finalized for at least another five months. It has been a few months since "the incident" and I am still stunned at how Dr. Beaty treated me and how incompetent Dr. Blaine was. I filed a grievance with my dental insurance provider and they sided with me and demanded a full refund from DB Dentistry. Dr. Beaty, if you are reading this: I won't be paying for the visit where you chewed me out in the exam chair - the same visit you promised I would not have to pay for. Also, I am filing a formal complaint with the American Dental Association. read more

At my age, I've been to many dentists, and I am proud to say that the team at Dr. Beaty's office surpasses all the others because of their customer service, education, and sincere desire to help me earn a healthy and beautiful smile. This office has been my go-to for dental needs since 2004, when I moved to Chicago. The administrative team does whatever it takes to fit you into their busy schedule. I like the transparency in how they run their business. They are upfront about costs, insurance coverage, length of appointment, referrals, and aftercare. I really trust them with my teeth. And whenever I have questions, they are very honest. I once asked Dr. Blaine about Invisalign, and she told me that although I would benefit from the teeth straightening, it was more important to her that I had healthy teeth. No pressure, really, but I still started the Invisalign treatment with Dr. Beaty, who has a great attitude and passion about teeth. This is what you want from a dentist, right? I have never been happier with a dentist, and I have referred my mom, dad, wife, and best friend to this practice, and I believe my family shares my same sentiments. I have been a patient of Dr Beaty at least 15 years and she is the best! I found her practice literally by chance--I needed some extractions for my ortho treatment that was being conducted by a dentist/ortho in Evanston, and I worked in the Loop and needed to do it on my lunch hour. I was so nervous for my appointment and was upset to be having good teeth removed. Dr Beaty was so kind and patient and listened to my concerns--she made sure I was at ease with the procedure before it began. I have been going to Dr. Beaty for 2 years now and I just love her! She's one of the best dentists I have ever been to. Her office has an amazing view of the lake while you get your teeth cleaned. They offer a lavender neck wrap and paraffin hand treatment while you get your mouth worked on. I always leave her office with a bag of goodies. Full size toothpaste, toothbrush and my usual retainer flossers. Her office is in the "Garland" building and it's convenient if you work in the loop. I have referred at least 10 people to her. As much as I hate going to the dentist in general, Dr.Beaty and her practice are about as good as it gets for dental care. If you're wondering if I really mean that, I went there this morning to have one of my back teeth drilled, and I can still give them 5 stars. She and her staff are obviously some of the best of the best in Chicago as far as how knowledgeable and competent they are, as well as their "chair-side" manner. Not to mention this is a really nice office and they have awesome perks like parrafin wax for your hands or a warm neck pillow. I've mainly been seeing Dr.Beaty for maybe 15 years - since when I transistioned from my kid dentist,- but recently have also seen Dr.Terrassa who is new to the office and also really great. It had all been standard check-ups and cleanings for me, with the occassional filling over the course of my life until a few months ago I slipped on the ice and hit my front teeth in the accident. They were so helpful in taking me in for an emergency appointment and calmly and carefully making sure I was ok, while also being very reassuring the whole time. In the Garland building on Wabash and Washington- takes metlife dental insurance, get a paraffin wax treatment and warm neck pillow while they work! All women office. My dentist at the practice is Sunaina Sahgal, DDS. She is a great communicator and truly cares about her patients. The work I got done recently was to repair really old fillings- Dr. Sahgal didn't just rip out all the old stuff (which could have increased cost and might have been an ego play for other dentists) she retained the work that was in good shape. She remembers stuff like the fact that I hate needles and is gentle with me on that. They have also had to send me to specialists that conveniently also take my insurance and is in the same building. When I started going to this dentist 4 years ago I was new to managing my own dental insurance / costs- most of the work I have had done was while I was in college or younger. Something I have learned a bit since then is how to be a conscious consumer. They are able to give very accurate cost estimations with insurance figured in before work is done, and learned that I needed to know expected costs before I agreed to work or asked about alternatives (for example, do I really need to get deep gum line cleaning done as an out of pocket expense or should I make a point to floss and use mouth wash and see how my next cleaning goes?) read more

I have been going to Dr. Sahgal at Beaty dentistry for a few years now and love her! I recommended her to a friend of mine who also thought she was very good. She is very thorough unlike some others dentists I've been to in Chicago. I get the sense that she really cares about her patients and doesn't rush through the cleaning. She's explains everything very well and told me a lot of things about my teeth that I wasn't aware of. I've had no cavities in the last few years whereas before it seemed like I was always having issues. They are also in-network with Aetna which is great for me and my husband. My husband was just told that he would have to get 2 cavities filled at another office and it would cost $300. I have been going to Dr. Beaty's office for several years now and could not be more pleased. Dr. Beaty's office is a dental spa of sorts where you get a wonderful view (Millennium Park & Lake Michigan), warm neck wraps, paraffin wax baths for your mitts, and Netflix if you ate too much candy and need to get your cavities filled. That is just the tip of the iceberg because the staff and of course Dr. Beaty are top notch too! Dr. Beaty and her staff take the time to make sure you are comfortable and well-informed and do an excellent job on educating their patients so they know exactly what they need to do or keep doing for optimum oral health. I recently had to see Dr. Beaty for three fillings (yikes!) and while she was working on those discovered a fourth which needed to be addressed. Instead of having me come back for another visit she proactively took care of everything at once to save me from having to make the trip back for an additional procedure. I saw Dr. Blaine at Dr. Beaty's office. It was determined that I was in need of a $500-$750 mouth guard that my insurance would not cover. I felt very pressured to purchase the mouth guard and she would not do any other work on me unless it was purchased. I attempted to ask about other options but didn't get much of a response. Since my visit I have gone to another dentist and was told that since they were under contract with my insurance company they would have to offer me the mouth guard for $350 (what insurance company would pay). I went to Dr. Beaty's office for a routine cleaning when I first moved to Chicago. I was told I had four cavities. I couldn't believe it - I hadn't had a cavity in years (maybe since I was a kid). This should have been an alarm bell for me but it was not; I trusted them and got an appointment to get my cavities filled. While Dr. Saghal was filling the four cavities something went wrong. After the appointment, I was in a lot of pain. I called days later and asked. I got another appointment and they said everything was fine. I went home and tried to ignore the issue but I was still in pain. So I started researching the issue on the Internet. Based on my Internet research, I thought I might have a cracked tooth. So I called the office again to ask if that may be the issue. Dr. Beaty's office told me I would need a root canal. I couldn't believe I had gone from having normal great teeth to a recommended root canal. I went to a new dentist. The new dentist confirmed that may cracked tooth and made me a crown, which fixed the issue. read more

Best Dental Experience- Ever. While I am religious about brushing and flossing, going to the dentist has never been a great experience for me. After multiple root canals and crowns, I finally just avoided the dentist altogether. When an issue arose and I had to come in, I was really nervous and anxious about it. Especially because I was trying a new dentist. Dr. Bernard as well as his Assistant were terrific! They were both warm, friendly, listened to me, I didn't feel rushed, and I felt that they were thorough in explaining my options for treatment. Most importantly, I didn't feel a thing! Usually I leave the dentist swollen, in pain and vowing never to return- no matter what I am having done. A few months shy of a year ago, I took the advice of many coworkers and made my cleaning appointment with Dr. Beaty, and found that this was the most thorough and thoughtful cleaning I've perhaps ever had. The amount of detail is exquisite, and I think that Dr. Beaty has excellent "bedside" manner. My review comes after getting a THIRD opinion on the status of my teeth after this cleaning, as this office suggested I needed a LOT of work, fillings, etc. A friend who is a Navy dentist looked at my X-Rays (2nd opinion) and said beware...you don't need all this work on your teeth, go see another dentist... so I went and got my 3rd opinion from our family dentist in the suburbs who pulled up my x-rays from 6 years ago, alongside fresh x-rays he took, and they showed little to no further decay on my teeth. He said, I'll do a filling or two when you're ready, but disregard the estimate of thousands of dollars of work you were initially given - you don't NEED 10+ fillings. He even explained that some of the fillings suggested would ultimately need part of the tooth drilled away to get to - and not a conducive solution. Considering this man has been the dentist for our extended family for close to 20+ years, I'm heeding his advice. I was kind of floored, and very disappointed by the extremely different opinions shared by Dr Beaty's offices versus a friend and second dentist - the Navy dentists are no-nonsense, which is why I trust a friend. While I can't speak for other dental needs, the work I was given a pre-estimate for from Dr. Beaty's office was deemed unnecessary or immediate, and I'm concerned for this involvement in other's dental care. For some, they provide wonderful dental care, and this review is only to provide my experience. Loved my cleaning, won't be returning. read more

I've been a patient here for over 10 years and my care has been consistently professional, caring and beyond my expectations. From the minute you walk in the office, the entire staff is friendly and welcoming. This vibe continues while you sit in the chair, awaiting Dr. Beaty. Did I mention the additional comforts - massaging chair, heated neck pillow, parafin hand wraps? While it sounds like a spa, the dental work is first-rate. Dr. Beaty is thorough and spends as much time as it takes to diagnose and treat each patient. She never seems rushed or preoccupied. I was referred to Dr. Beaty's office by a co-worker's friend. I made an appointment but ended up having Dr. Sahgal. She informed me I had build-up between my gums and teeth and needed an extra special cleaning. She offered me the option for a regular cleaning or to pay extra for the upgrade, which my insurance didn't cover. Never before has a dentist told me about any issues with my gums and it had only been a year since my previous cleaning. But I opted for the special cleaning assuming the doctor knew best. It was VERY painful and my gums were sore for a few days. When I left, I was prescribed a special mouthwash and instructed to use it twice a day for two weeks. Luckily the prescription wasn't expensive since my insurance covered most of it. I assumed the pain was normal from the special cleaning and within two weeks, two of my co-workers also went to Dr. Beaty's office. I'm not sure which dentist they saw, but they were also told they had issues with their gums and in need of a special cleaning along with a prescription for the same special mouthwash. The chances of three individuals who previously didn't have any gum issues all of a sudden needing a prescription and costly cleanings is ridiculous and I call BS. Dr. Sahgal lost my trust and I will not go back to see her. read more

My son was 3 and my daughter was 8 when we became patients of Dr. Beaty's and since that union, my children have always looked forward to going to the dentist. Dr. Beaty - as well as her entire staff - have awesome personalities, terrific bedside manner and just overall kindness and concern for their patients. I have never been to a more dedicated, compassionate dentist who deeply cares about preserving your teeth. Dr. Beaty has always explained all treatment options, procedures, and the costs involved for those procedures. DB Dentistry follows-up with their patients to make sure there are no complications from procedures and that the patient is doing well. Even when she referred my children to the Orthodontist for braces, she made sure to check on their progress and to make sure we (especially the children) were comfortable with her referral. Dr. Beaty made sure that the excellent care her office provided was also being provided by her referral. To add to the excellent patient care, the amenities offered are above and beyond - from the chair massage, to the paraffin hand wax, to the warm neck wrap, to the mellow music. Feels more like going to a spa instead of seeing the dentist. Over the years, I have referred many family members and co-workers to Dr. Beaty and they remain patients. While Dr. Beaty is not an in-network dentist through my insurance, it is WELL worth the few dollars more to have peace of mind, comfort, and awesome care.
