Unfortunately, I can't ignore what happened to my skin. I first found Fulfilled Aesthetics through a promotion and was so excited to book. I'd been wanting to try microneedling for a long time after hearing so many great things about it. The studio itself is absolutely beautiful. It's clean, chic, relaxing, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. My aesthetician was also incredibly sweet, which makes writing this even harder. When I came in for my first treatment, my skin was actually in a really good place. I had spent years getting my acne under control, and my texture and discoloration had improved so much. I wasn't trying to fix active acne. I simply wanted to enhance my results and invest in my skin. I know that some treatments can cause purging, but I had never experienced that with any procedure before. A few days after my microneedling session, I started developing large, painful cystic acne. It wasn't just a breakout. It continued for weeks and was unlike anything I had experienced in a very long time. At my follow-up appointment, I was recommended a mesoneedling acne treatment because of the breakout that followed the microneedling. I trusted the recommendation, even though I had never heard of needing an acne treatment after a treatment that was supposed to improve my skin. Unfortunately, things only got worse. I developed even more cystic acne after that session. The reaction became severe enough that I had to see my dermatologist for cortisone injections. She told me that the type of reaction I was having to microneedling was extremely rare. I still have two sessions left as part of my package, but I'm honestly very hesitant to continue. Instead of smoother skin, I'm now dealing with cystic acne, new scarring, and post-inflammatory discoloration that took me years to improve. That has been incredibly discouraging. I'm genuinely disappointed because I wanted to have the same experience that so many others have described. The staff was wonderful, my aesthetician was caring, and the studio is one of the nicest I've visited. I truly don't think anyone did anything intentionally wrong. My skin simply had a very unexpected reaction. I hope my experience is just a rare exception, but I also think it's important to share for anyone considering treatment, especially if they've worked hard to get their skin to a healthy place. I started to really increase my cardio and started on a very strict diet- and was still noticing this area was much bigger than before. I finally went back in and spoke to Jennifer who was very understanding of the situation. But she couldn't tell me if this was the rare side affect that occurs (which I was aware of- but she mentioned that was visibility much different) she couldn't identify what went wrong, she couldn't even say if this was permanent or not. The best she could do was apologize and say shed submit the case to Coolsculpting. Furthermore, halfway through treatment she felt I was no longer a good candidate for coolsclptiing so she cancelled future appointments out of caution- and I hadn't even achieved results I was hoping for, so I felt like I was now left to deal with this growth area on my own. Although she was very understanding and had a good attitude and her staff was great during my treatments, it's very evident, at Coolcontours they are only knowledgeable of the device itself and have very little knowledge of the biology behind it. There was a misdiagnosis or something was missed on their part for this to have happened. Months later, I've had to make drastic dietary changes and have been dealing with new body image issues which I did not have prior to coming to Coolcontours.

While there was improvement in the overall shape of my arm compared to before surgery, the outcome still feels unfinished. The biggest issue is the scarring. At a year out, it's still very visible dark in color and somewhat raised in areas. I expected more fading and blending by now. The surrounding skin also has uneven pigmentation and texture that hasn't fully resolved, which makes the area stand out more than I'd like. From a contour standpoint, there's improvement, but not the tight, clean look I was hoping for. There's still some softness and lack of definition in parts of the arm that I thought would be addressed with the procedure. To be fair, this isn't a disastrous result, but it's also not a "wow" outcome. It feels like I got about 50% of the result I expected, and the remaining 50% mainly scar appearance and skin quality was never fully addressed or managed. If you're considering this procedure, I'd strongly recommend having a very detailed conversation about scar management, realistic outcomes, and what follow-up treatments might be needed to get a more polished result. I think I would have benefited from more guidance and a clearer plan for the healing phase beyond the initial surgery. Overall: noticeable improvement, but not as refined or complete as expected a year later.
