My dog has been attending doggy daycare at Deb's five days a week since I first brought him home, almost two years now. He's a Weimaraner - very smart and very high energy, and I don't know what we'd have done without Deb and her staff. Deb helped me train him as a little guy, gave me housebreaking tips, and helped troubleshoot some territorial behavior. In the last two years, he has come home with the occasional scratch, but nothing horrible. Just like kids at school, playground injuries can happen. I will say that the few times there has been any injury, Deb's staff have always told me about it right away. Let me be clear - I mean just a scratch on his side, or a scrape on his nose...nothing I would be the least bit concerned about. He has boarded there on five or six occasions, mostly weekends - but once for almost a week. I never feel like he is anything but well-loved there. He comes home pleasantly worn out and very well-behaved. Numerous times I have called Deb with questions or concerns about different doggy behavior and she has always quite graciously answered all my questions and helped me understand my dog better. I've stopped in at all times of day - and the facility is always clean, dogs are having fun, and staff are friendly and welcoming.The staff there treat us not like clients, but like family. Apart from the social skills and great temperament at home that I believe are testament to the quality of his time at Deb's, the most important thing I've noticed is how excited my dog is to go in the morning. The minute I turn into the neighborhood, he perks up. He knows it is playtime and he practically bolts in the front door, tail-wagging and ready for fun. With any business, different people have different experiences, and different expectations. I got my dog shortly after to moving to town, and didn't know anyone here. I had to rely on reviews and recommendations to make my decision to try Deb's, but I'm so glad I gave her a chance. I have been bringing my dogs to Deb's for boarding and grooming on and off for the past year.I can honestly say that my overall experience has been a good one. The staff has always been friendly and the dogs seem happy when they come and when they go. I will say that my very first experience with boarding had me concerned at first. My boys came home and slept for several days, they did not eat well when they first came home and they were slow to move. By the third day, they were back to their happy bouncy selves, just as Deb said they would be. The next time I boarded them, I explained my concerns and Deb was quick to reassure me that their behavior was normal after a weekend boarding at her kennel. I still wanted to be sure that my boys were not being harmed in anyway, so I stopped in unannounced on a Saturday. What I saw was enough to reassure me. The dogs were all out playing, they were jumping around and having a blast. If they played like that for three days straight it is no wonder they were wore out. As for the sore feet, well they are playing on gravel not carpet so that made sense too. The excess sleeping was easy for me to justify, they played non stop for three days, even at night when they were in a kennel they were not alone so they were still somewhat active and not really resting. The appetite, well lets just say they could stand to lose a few pounds anyway and I know my boys will not let themselves starve to death. I am not saying that Deb's Riverview Kennels is without flaws, it is operated by human beings, my dogs have gotten scrapes and even a couple of bites but the staff has always communicated with me to let me know the circumstance and ya know, dogs do play rough sometimes. As a pet owner placing my dog in a facility that specializes in socialization I do expect the occasional scuffle. Anyway, I have read through the other posts on this site and I just wanted to say I really like Deb's, but most importantly, my dogs really like going to Deb's Riverview Kennels. read more

I see some reviews on here that shock me. I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion and has their own experiences, but so do I. So here it goes: having voluntarily left another daycare/boarding facility due to repeated mishandling and ignored instructions regarding my pup, I decided to try out Deb's. The staff, top to bottom, has treated my little hound mix - charlie - like he was their own. I have seen unbelievable progress in his behavior and ability to obey commands in the 6 months I have been taking him to Debs (3 times a week). One person in particular, Heather, has been a joy to work with. She will send ask what he needs to work on and send me videos/give to tutorials of their progress and what I need to work on at home. The kennel area, (it is more like a large dog park- great area for exercise and socializing) is kept spotless. I was once given a tour and was amazed at the awareness and attention to detail that the kennel employees have for each and every dog - as if it was their own. Keep in mind - I understand that dogs can play rough and come home with scratches, that is part of dogs socializing - it's gonna happen! However when he does come home with scratches, the team at Debs notes anything to me and leaves me feeling like he is in the best hands possible - not like they are just there to babysit, but they show me they are invested in the happiness of my dog. On the 3 mornings a week I have him go to daycare, he wakes up and darts to my car as if to say "I'm ready for my day at school!" Who wouldn't want that? read more

My dogs regularly go to Deb's Riverview Kennels for daycare and boarding and I couldn't be happier with the service and care they provide. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The staff here are the only ones I'll trust with my dogs because they are just that great. They get to know the dogs and their personalities and after you drop off a couple times they recognize you and who you're their to pickup. The pups get to play in play yards and the awesome bone shaped pool and they don't get crammed in a small kennel at night because the boarding kennels are large indoor/outdoor kennels which gives my crew plenty of room to lounge. The facility is tucked away so dogs don't have all the distractions of constant traffic noise but is still conveniently accessible from the main road and only about 5 minutes from Fort Leavenworth. Deb's Riverview Kennels has been the perfect place for me and my pups. If you're looking for the perfect getaway for your pet so you don't have to constantly worry about them at some other places look no further because these guys truly care about the dogs they care for. read more

We have been taking our large dog, Ridley, to Deb's for daycare 5 days a week, several long weekends and up to 10 day stays overnight for almost a year now. We're a military family and Deb went out of her way to help us with a smooth transition even before we moved to Leavenworth (it was so nice having a place for Ridley to stay while we unpacked our house). Ridley has had some scrapes here and there which Deb has always pointed out when we pick him up and treated with some salve or antibiotics (he gets these at home too - I wouldn't say he's the most graceful dog in the world). The most telling for me is his demeanor when we pick him up after a long stay: he is not only a super happy dog but sits by the door at home and pulls at the leash to go back for daycare the next day. If he was not treated well, even over a long weekend, it would be difficult to get him to go back - instead he practically pulls us through her front door. I'd encourage anyone who is interested in Deb's to stop by during drop-off/pick-up times to see how well the dogs are doing. Also, in the fall they remodeled and gave tours of the new play yards and kennel - I'm sure a quick tour would ease any concerns you might have. read more

My wife and I have been using Deb's Riverview Kennel for almost a year now for our two dogs (lab mixes). We have boarded them for weekends (probably six times), as well as two multi-week vacations. Our dogs have always had a good time, and are always excited to play at Deb's. Additionally, the staff has always been very pleasant and helpful. Every time we board our dogs for more than a couple of days they also got a complimentary bath (and a cute bandanna). Also, when our dog did have an issue at Deb's, they took care of her immediately at no cost to us. Here's what happened: Texas, our lab/collie mix, tried to jump a fence and cut her leg because of it. Deb's immediately called a vet and her leg stitched up. When I picked up the dogs, Deb personally briefed me on what happened and the treatment protocol. The Deb's and the vet both called a few days later to follow-up on Texas and to see how she was doing. Deb's has reasonable boarding rates for the area, and you can get a discount for paying early, or or a long stay discount. Not sure what the other reviews are talking about. Our dogs eat plenty of food during their stays, and always come home happy. Highly recommend Deb's! read more

I have brought my Cody to Debs since he was 10 weeks old and that was 3 years now. You can tell by your dogs attitude when you go someplace if they are excited to go there or fearful. Cody gets excited and knows where we are when about a block away. He can't wait to go play. It is not true that they don't ch check on vaccinations, they update records and ask for verification from your vet that they have their shots, she also offers to get them for you if you prefer. Kennel cough is just like a cold with kids in school, you can not prevent it but immunization helps lessen it just like human flu shots don't prevent you from getting flu. Owners need to take responsibility if their dog is not feeling well just like you should do with your kids at school. When a sick dog is noticed I was notified of that. I feel that my dog gets better care and has more fun at Debs than anyplace else you can go to. The staff is accommodating, friendly and attentive. They also do temperament assessment with new dogs and introduce gradually to other dogs. As for Cody and me we think Debs rocks!!! read more

I have to argue about the comment left by Wendy Z. I've been taking my dog to Debs since 2009 and not once have I ever had an issue. I'm not saying your dog wasn't sick, but I highly doubt it was from Debs or that she never called you back. I remember once when my dog had a slight limp and I forgot to mention this to Deb, she called me worried sick to let me know. Deb also educated me on the type of food I had been feeding my dog and because of that my dog is healthier, happier and still acting like a puppy even though he's 10 years old. I have never met anyone who loves and cares for animals the way Deb and her entire staff does. It took me a long time to be able to trust anyone with my dog, and I will ONLY let Debs Riverview Kennel watch him. We moved to Arkansas a few years ago, and we still drive down to Leavenworth whenever we need a place for Brody to go to. Please take it from someone who uses doggie daycare, boarding, the grooming services and everything else Deb offers, if you want a trusting, clean & caring environment for your pets, take them to Debs. read more

It's hard to describe Deb's to someone who's never been there. There's absolutely nothing corporate about the place, just great people taking great care of dogs. My black lab Tyson is happy when I pick him up in the evening but even more excited when I drop him off in the morning! I've lived all over the country and never found a daycare facility as special as Deb's. I trust them implicitly and they've gone out of there way countless times to make sure Tyson was happy and well cared for. They've helped him go from being a skittish dog who didn't play well with others to a dog who loves to play! So Deb's isn't just a place to keep your dog while you work; it's a place that actually makes a happier and better behaved dog! I have been taking my pets to Deb's Riverview Kennel for a little over a year now and am very satisfied with the services provided to me and my pets. The staff was very professional and I received a guided tour the moment I initially dropped by. It made me very comfortable to know that I didn't need an appointment to tour the facility. I knew at that time that my dogs would be taken care of. I was very impressed with the facility and to know that my dogs would be able to be outside to play with the other dogs and not stuck inside of a bldg like some of the other places in the area I had visited made it even better. I have been using Debs Riverview Kennels for 8 years, four of which my dogs were enrolled in daily doggie daycare. The care has always been superb and professional. My dogs were both rescues with behavioral/social issues. Their time at Debs helped make them normal Springer Spaniels. They look forward to going to Debs whenever we leave town. I have read the negative posts and have not been able to find documentation to verify the negative accusations nor are there any police reports or SPCA reports against this facility. My lab/mix Kennedy LOVES going to Debs for daycare and for boarding! She always comes home tired from all the exercise and socialization! Kennedy has never gotten sick from staying at Debs and she has been going there for well over a year! She actually got sick more often at home before we started taking her to daycare! Deb and her staff are always friendly and always have a smile on their face! If I ever have a question or concern they are always there to put my mind at ease! The kennel is clean and well maintained and its nice that they are not caged up all day like I have seen at other kennels. They get to play in a yard with dogs their own size and same energy level! I have been using Debs for boarding and daycare for over 20 years. When picking up kitties and dogs from boarding they were happy healthy and freshly bathed. They never balked or whined to go. As for the day care, my best friend has been going there for almost 5 years. She is incredibly happy, healthy, playful, and thanks to the daycare well socialized. I have never had any problems or complaints. The area is well shaded and always kept neat and clean. My dog loves going there. The best pet care facility I have found hands down. The family and staff at Deb's river view kennel made it possible for us to keep our newest addition to the family"Buster"....a Pit/Terrier mix rescue dog with more energy than we could deal with at first. Deb and her staff worked with both us and Buster. We are Buster's 3rd "forever home" and probably his last chance. Now he obeys all voice commands, is the happiest dog I've ever known, and has a very very special place in our family. We have had two dogs stay at Deb's over the course of 10+years and use this business 3-4 times per year. The dogs were(and are) happy and excited to get there and happy when we pick them up. We have not had one issue in all of the years of our pets not being treated well. That tells us they are well-cared for and loved at Deb's. They always call us and our dogs by name. They have always been available on short notice and work with our pick-up and drop-off schedule. My dog stays at Deb's Riverview Kennel any time I go out of town. He knows when we're there and is always ready to get out and play. The staff is phenomenal.
