The place I'd used in the past was completely booked, and I started freaking out...until I called Deb's. Yes she had room for them, and yes, she'd love to have them. I actually spoke with her on the phone for 45 minutes and got a feel for the kind of person I was dealing with; a confident, competent expert who has a passion for animals. I dropped my boys off on the morning we left. I was nervous as all get out bc these two are absolute knuckleheads. They're very quirky dogs & the purebred can be extremely stand-offish. He generally trusts nobody except his family and their closest friends. He's a working dog, and his main job is protecting us, so I didn't know what to expect. Everything went very smoothly during drop off. The facility was nice & clean, staff was more than courteous, and there were quite a few dogs outside in the large play area. The dogs all seemed happy & well cared for. Deb came in and after meeting, she took full control & whisked my boys off. I discussed feeding & meds with the gentleman at the front counter, and off I went. I called to check on my dogs & the phone was answered immediately. Everything was great, they were spending equal amounts of time playing outside & relaxing. No issues. I was quite comfortable after speaking with the staff. They were in good hands. When we returned I was eager to pick up my knuckleheads. I arrived a bit after my scheduled 2pm appointment, but it definitely didn't seem to be an issue. Their things were in the waiting room packed up & ready to go. Then came the ultimate test; I'd be able to tell exactly how things went based on my older boys demeanor. We had a bad experience with another well known local kennel & there was no mistaking that he'd been treated poorly. Also he has always been apprehensive and just "out of it" for 2-3 days after boarding. None of that. Both dogs were happy as could be. They were bright eyed & bushy tailed! Ready to go home for sure, but super content. They were clean, well fed & rested. They even got baths before I picked them up. I don't even know how anyone got warmed up enough to my Heeler in such a short amount of time to actually give him a bath, but kudos!! Short version: Deb's Riverview Kennels is a great choice if you're looking to board your pets. In the past I've completely avoided boarding bc it just never worked out. Now that has changed & I'm thrilled that I have a place to "babysit" my boys. I'll definitely return, and I'll also refer them without hesitation. If they can please the knuckleheads, they can please me! Thank you Deb & staff!!

Our dog Ruby just went through a 4 week behavior modification training program with Steph at the…read moreGladstone location. Ruby was reactive on leash and at at our fence with the neighbor dogs, and had problems focusing on us (and what we wanted) while she was outside. She's the first non-food-motivated dog we've ever had, and so we had no idea how to get her attention when she was so focused on everything else. We had only ever trained with treats and that just wasn't working this time. But Steph did know how to train her. After training, our dog is calm and confident. She can loose leash walk in the neighborhood at heel. She's patient and well mannered. A model citizen. She will focus on us when we're outside and come when called, which used to be a struggle if there was a nice breeze, or an interesting leaf, or a bee, or the moon to gaze at. I highly recommend training through KC Dawgz and the associated Digs boarding facility/play group in Gladstone. We dropped Ruby off every morning and picked her up after work, and got to take home a well behaved dog in the evening. She learned while we were working, when we didn't have the time or expertise to do it ourselves. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. If you just have a wacky four legged roommate or a furkid who has a tougher problem, Steph can sort them out for you. The initial consultation was free and easy to schedule and the package we went with included in-home training lessons to make sure everything worked out right at home, too. Some of the best money we have ever spent. (Thank you Steph!!!)

They gave me some steroids to help contain the growth and made me me an appointment to come back one week later I called the day before to make sure they received her blood work from her regular vet. They claim they didn't even have her on the schedule, but they would work her in. I get there for her procedure, they want me to sign something that tells me how much it's going to be. It's the same document I had before, except it was supposed to be half the price because I opted out of the bloodwork. My quote was originally $400 approximately, decreased down to $200 because of declining the bloodwork. However, they claim this was a mistake. And actually came back with a larger amount to pay. They were not going to honor the original quote that they gave me. The new quote was going to be anywhere from $370-$620. What a joke. I left. "Sorry" they say. That's the thing about saying sorry. Apparently these days it can get you out of anything.
