Stairs, stairs and more stairs! Ladies please for the love of your toes and worth of your pedicure, wear your flats. After climbing up 2 levels of stairs only your pride will keep you from turning around for fear you'll be seen as an old head. Once at the top though, the DJ is great! You hear those tunes and think it's all worth it...until you turn a corner that is. Once around the corner you realize the rooftop is the size on an average apartment in DC. Seriously the place can't be larger than 800 SQ ft BUTTTT it's packed to capacity. You'll ask yourself damn was that hike worth it? The DJ is good so you'll love the music. The bar tenders are quick so grab a drink and you'll be cool. They do have fans blowing but trust me with the amount of people up there it's just blowing hot breath around. I had a good time for the 30mins I was there but that climb down was no joke. The stairs kept me sober though because I knew I'd take mean tumble down on my way out if I had one too. Cool club with multiple different levels and eras of music to suit everyone, from the young to the old, you can have fun here. The staff was pretty friendly even the bouncers outside...well most of them. The door guy seemed not too happy, but I'm sure dealing with drunk people isn't always fun. I'd give it 5 stars if they actually put some alcohol in their drinks, especially considering they are $12 for an 8oz mixed drink. I'm from Chicago and used to the prices but at least put some alcohol in there. Also if you plan on going upstairs as soon as you walk in don't buy a drink at the downstairs bar because they won't let you bring it upstairs. Some weird rule. read more

Me and 3 other girls paid $50+ to spend nye here. We were there for maybe an hour, had 2 drinks, went to bathroom together (because that's what girls do), and when we came out security approached us and said we had to leave. They wouldn't give us a valid reason and they had 0 proof and were very rude. All we did was pee in their toilet.....we weren't even that drunk, we did not steal anything, and we definitely weren't doing drugs in the bathroom. They just kicked out 4 innocent young girls for absolutely NO REASON. Oh and the DJ completely missed the nye countdown which was amazing. Great venue and great staff! Hosted an event at Decades earlier this year and was extremely impressed. The manager I worked with (Kumal) was one of the better venue owners I have ever dealt with. Just knowing this place is still in business is a major turn-down. I've been to Decades three times. The first time was pretty fun, the second time was pretty lame, and the third time was terrible. Now I understand that things don't always run perfectly, and I had assumed this establishment was just having a bad night on my second visit. But on my third (and last) visit to Decades, it was so heinous that it actually made for a story, which in itself is a sign of trouble. I was at Decades to see a DJ I like. The first issue I encountered was that the venue was very over packed - barely enough room to breathe or hear my friends. That in itself is less than ideal, but it became a real problem when too many people wanted to go to the next floor. There was no organization and the bouncers were getting very rough with attendees as a means of crowd control. I didn't see this but my girlfriend and two other friends told me this was happening. I couldn't focus while I was on that floor at all simply because it got too hot from the overcrowding. The air was so thick and sweaty, and the temperature was so high that I got dizzy and had to use the wall I was pushed up against for balance. I actually thought I would pass out from the heat. Thankfully, I survived. Somehow, that wasn't the lowest point of the night. Eventually, I made it to the top floor. Decades advertised the DJ would be on the top floor and the 2000's floor - the latter never happened. (Side note, the top floor is extremely loud, even compared to the rest of them.) I was standing around the bar when this bouncer actually grabbed me by the neck and shoved me out of his way. I don't think I need to detail why that's an uncool situation. But, just to flesh it out, he never stopped moving himself or asked me to move, and he could have lightly pushed my back instead. So I called after him, telling him not to do that (in a scolding but nonthreatening tone). The bouncer actually ran back, grabbed me, twisted me into this sort of wrestling hold, and started screaming in my ear. He didn't let go for a while and I had bruising on my chest for three days after he attacked me. Don't get the wrong idea, I can take a hit, but it's the sheer disrespect that got to me. I thought my request was reasonable, and I should be at least entitled to some kind of human decency after giving this venue my money throughout the night. On that note, holy smokes this is the one and only location at which I've complained about drink prices. $12 for a drink in a small plastic cup, which is no different than cups you get at your office's water cooler. It's almost like self-parody, but it wasn't funny because I came to this venue expecting to have a good time. But if you want Decades summed up, then here's what happened to my girlfriend. I stepped away for a minute to use the restroom and when I came back she told me there was someone outwardly grabbing her butt, and someone else had to physically step between them to get the guy to stop (my thanks to whomever intervened). Real classy crowd. It's not a good time when your significant other is sexually assaulted. All of this happened in one night, doubtlessly making Decades the worst club experience of my life. Now I know what's going to happen, the nightclub will respond to this review saying that my experience was unfortunate and to email their client service inbox. Guess what, I already did. I never got any kind of response, and judging by the sheer amount of people who have complained throughout time, both of issues similar to mine and of different topics all together, the night club plans to keep running things as they are. It's shameless. The last time I was at Decades was three months ago, and at the time I only complained to the customer service email address. I'm adding my experience here simply because I still see ads for the nightclub on social media, meaning it still exists, and I don't like that. read more

A group of friends an I bought tickets to decades for New Years and my one friend is handicap and in a wheelchair. The bouncers were so disrespectful to someone who is handicap and our group telling us we were "assholes and pushing our luck that they'd even allow for him to try an go to another part of the bar" very unprofessional and overall inhuman that they'd not allow someone of a such condition to enjoy their night because of their disabilities. Worst management at any DC club by far. My friend and I went the other night to celebrate Labor Day Weekend and she was verbally harassed by an individual (older gentleman) at the bar when ordering drinks because she accidentally bumped into him. When the man called her an "ugly fat b*tch" my friend went to the nearest bouncer to help diffuse the situation. The bouncer (a woman, mind you) completely invalidated my friend's concern and instead of helping her to remedy the situation or hold the man accountable for his extremely misogynistic behavior within this establishment - she told my friend it was "time to go" and made me throw out both my FULL beverage and two shots I had just purchased for us which the bar overcharged me for in the first place (a five-drink tab should not have amounted to $150 with well drinks). When the bouncer did this, we decided the manager might be the better avenue of solving this problem and approached him. When he could tell that my friend was visibly upset and anxious about the entire situation, instead of telling her she could stay he handed her $40 cash as what could only be described as "hush money," said "I will fire the bouncers I'll be right back" and then never returned. When he still hadn't returned we asked the second manager on duty what we could do an he pointed to a group of police officers outside of the bar and said "talk to that one, he works for us." The fact that a bar would try to pay off a woman who was being harassed literally in 2019 is abhorrent and nobody should waste their money on this establishment with watered-down drinks and terrible management. Go somewhere else in Dupont, there's plenty of places that don't tolerate harassment. read more

We made it in fine without any issue when we went in separate, however when we went in together as an LGBT couple it suddenly had a "dress code.". We were not allowed reentry and the staff was aggressive with us, grabbing me and my partner by the arm to let us know we weren't welcome. read more

We walked in at 10:30 - think we were 2 of 15 in the entire place. Was standing room only within the hour in the first floor (up a massive set of steps) to the cooler level with mirrors, video screens and DJ mixing 90's dance music. Upstairs to the old school room with MTV logos, older music, HIGHLY crowded and not the best air flow, but pool tables and a few video games. Top floor has old HipHop vibe, couches and smaller space, rooftop area. Grab a drink early, drink it and bring in very little with you - no place to sit unless you order table service. Bouncers make sure you don't put down your coat in the area, and are always mopping up the floor from those that have to dance and hold drinks. Great for groups, and lots of bridal parties taking selfies - lots lycra and double tape. Diverse and well dressed crowd - we left at 1:30a and the entire block was filled with party goers. Bonus - Shake Shack across the street for the after dancing milkshake. read more

Terrible Experience. It started out great, so we thought, my friends and I were invited to the VIP area and a little later I believe I was roofied. Thank goodness I was with friends who got me out of there before anything else happened. I had blood taken at the emergency room and sent for testing to determine what drugs may have been in my system. I have an idea who drugged my drink but cannot prove it. Great club, great atmosphere! Definitely something for everyone. A group of us reserved the VIP section two weekends ago and had excellent service! We had people from their mid 20's all the way to 50's. Music was amazing- something for everyone! Bottle service was not as pricey as I thought (let's face it, all bottle service is pricey) and the staff accommodated our needs for the evening. The club was packed but in a good way, no one got out of hand and everyone had a good time. We will definitely be back! read more

The night began where the bouncer let my four female friends through only to tell me $20 cover for guys when they were already almost inside. Very classy. This is first time I m leaving review because people need to know about this amazing place! Got a table on a hip hop floor and really enjoyed the night. Booking the table here was so smooth and easy with Kamal help. Getting us inside the venue was really VIP experience and staff was really friendly and helpful. Terrible place and service...Where do I even begin? We got a private room on the top floor. The stairs...the biggest SAFETY HAZARD. They were so narrow I almost got pushed off by this drunk girl coming down. Not to mention we had to go up 3-4 flights of stairs.. worrying about the crowdedness. Once in the room itself i stepped out with my boyfriend, coming back in the "bouncer" in front of the room pushed my boyfriend out while we attempted to go inside. First of all where's your guest list? Second... your assumptions of who can go in and out were off the entire night as a bunch of randoms came in during our stay. The billing was an issue the entire time. The poor hostess/server whatever she was that hosted our stay charged the card various times creating the bank to go into fraud alert. During this time we stayed in the room for about 4 hours until resolving this issue. We could not get our bottles in the room because the transaction (transactionsss) didn't go through yet we had mobile banking showing that the card was processing 8 transactions maybe even more than that for a large amount of money. Kamal tried to handle our situation by giving out a free bottle ( which we never received) at that point it was 2 o'clock and again we were promised to stay longer yet we were kicked out at 3:15 when the club itself closed at 3. For over $2,000 (which we were charged 8 times) spent and 1 hour in there.. this was not an enjoyable night. The situation was not handle properly by management. Don't get a table here they will steal your money. read more

If this club and it's service is indicative of DC nightlife then I am truly glad I live in Tampa. I chose this as a place to have my birthday celebration during my girls weekend in DC. It seemed like the perfect spot. We had arranged to get a table with bottle service since there would be 10 of us that night. We were quoted a price of $450 for a bottle of vodka, bottle of whiskey and a bottle of chamoagne. When the first person in the group arrived they were given a totally different price and there was some back and forth and then ultimately it was supposed to be the original quoted price. When we arrived someone checked our name against the list and then instructed us that out table was "up the stairs to the right". No one escorted us to the table. When we got upstairs we asked one bouncer and he shrugged and pointed to the VIP hostess. I gave her the name on the table and she said "what about it". Then showed us where it was. The table was a small table in front of a couch there wasn't any type of rope or barrier between the tables and the general dance floor so we spent the whole night with random people sitting on the couch and wandering into the space. The liquors they served were bottom shelf liquors and we saw our waitress one time when we actually grabbed her to bring more ice. It was without a doubt the worst experience I've had with a bottle service. Then the next day when we reviewed our card statement the charge was $200 more than we had been quoted. The service we received wasn't worth $450 and it sure wasn't worth $650. If you are someone who has ever experienced VIP bottle service done well this place will be a huge disappointment. read more

This is one of my favorite clubs to go to. The different level floors are outstanding. Its almost everyones go to these days. Friendly service, and well kept house keeping. I remember my favorite time going there. We went to decades on my brothers birthday. We had a table that night and we went up to the bouncer and he let us up no problem. We had a great women that work extremly hard that night making sure we were alright. I start talking to the table next to us. We were turning up with them. We were pretty drunk by then. The next morning. We were looking at our snapchat and we swear to god that was clinton portis next to us. We heared later that day that infact he was there that night. We were in shock that we talked to clinton and never knew. Thats why i love this bar. You can meet anyone there and they would be anyone. One of my most classic moments. read more

Celebrated my birthday here last Saturday night (8/26/17). I made my table reservation through Amjad and he was great all the way through. Very responsive leading up to the party, answered all my questions, etc. On the night of, he met me when I got there, made sure my guests and I were seated quickly, made sure all my guests got in okay, and came back throughout the night to make sure I was having a good time. The bouncers did their job too, keeping stragglers out of my area. Even (respectfully) kicking out some sneaky peeps at one point. The club itself is awesome. Bouncers here like pushing people around a little too much--I'm a girl, 5'6", and a bouncer pushed me from behind to make way for a girl heading to the VIP area. When I turned around, he pounded on his chest where the shirt said "security" with his fist, I don't know, I guess to intimidate me? I'd been letting bar backs and security walk by me all night, so there was no need for any of that. It was the last straw for me after being let down by the music, drinks, and general vibe of the place anyway. There are better spots to drink and dance, don't waste your time on this one. read more
