If I was local, it probably would have went home with me that day, haha. I learned that they also rent out their inventory for weddings & events which is such a brilliant idea. If ever a store was aptly named it is Oddballs Nifty Thrift. If thrifting is your thing a visit to…read moreoddballs is in order. There are three rooms filled from floor to ceiling, literally. You can find anything from antiques, collectibles, dishes, clothes, even a very large wild boar head. I thought some of the prices were high however signs throughout the location indicate prices are negotiable. Staff was friendly and greeted everyone as they entered. There is a scavenger hunt with a prize if you find all the items. You can even buy your beer as you browse. I am sure some people spend hours here. There is limited parking along the side of the building on the street. I am not a thrifter but it was fun to browse Oddballs.

The Wilton Collective was previously located across from The Manor but they have relocated into the old Holy Mackerel location in Island City Plaza on 26th St. The large space has an interesting selection of art, jewelry, accessories, clothes, figurines, home goods, and vintage and antique pieces. There is also an event and meeting space that can be rented. They have a Mix & Mingle event at their bar every Friday from 6:30-8PM. I loved the Florida prints, especially the alligators and mermaids and they had my beloved vintage Pyrex dishes. Items ranged from a few dollars to hundreds. The prices I did check seemed reasonable to me. They have such an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I really enjoyed exploring this store.

I discovered Previewmod after attending a Yelp event that was held a few doors down. As soon as I came in I was greeted a friendly hello. I loved exploring the small but carefully curated store. They had so many interesting furniture pieces, art, home decor, and even clothing and jewelry. My favorite piece was a marshmallow sofa by Herman Miller in bright red from 1956. It was selling for $3,895 which seems quite expensive but mid century modern is very popular today. Like in all things it is always best to do your research before buying. I did like that they had a lot of things I had never seen before anywhere else and would be very much at home on the set of I Love Lucy. As a fan of history and architecture, this store was a fun discovery.

When it comes to furniture stores, Previewmod is a highly specialize one dealing in furniture and…read moreother items I might best describe as being Mid-Century Modern or those roughly designed or brought about by what was the modern design movement of the mid-20th century, generally covering years from 1933 to 1965. It's a furniture design I love and know a little bit about, but being only slightly knowledgeable about such things is akin to have no knowledge at all, since it is so unique, somewhat specialized and only attracts a small but avid following. Since Previewmod is in the process of remodeling, I'm hesitant to rate it but some of the pieces they had on display were real gems but, of course, at gem prices such as a Charles Eames (circa mid 1960's) chair. Though listed at a price of $4,200 which one might at first blush consider high, it along with the condition of it actually represents a price I would consider to be somewhere around $600 below the prevailing retail market; hence, a pretty good deal. Beyond their store front, Previewmod also has one of the better such web sites I've seen. If you're really into furnishings of this type, and really only if you're into them, it's a pretty good store in comparison to other stores I've visited that specialize in similar such furnishings.

Another reason was that I wanted to get tested but unfortunately, they were closed on Sundays which was disappointing since the website said they opened till 6pm. Regardless I drove to Ft Laud, got my test and why did I not leave? I ended up buying shoes, brand new cups for my drinks that I can carry to work, a wooden chopping board, Christmas decorations, and vintage signs. I had a ball. I'm inspired to declutter some more because I know my small contribution is going to a good cause versus dropping it off at a regular thrift store. The staff was super nice. I mean super!! Even when I got tested, the person took the time to go over so many things I didn't know and was very much educated on, and will be visiting the following Sunday to discuss. There's such a stigma around HIV, getting tested, and talking about these in my community but these are real issues that need to be spoken about openly. I'm so appreciative of this organization and will only be donating to the closet.

The thrift shop has a wide open floor plan with low racks for easy navigation through the inventory. Plenty of gently used clothing with corner displays of household goods. I found an incredible skulls and roses 2X collar shirt for only $12.00, but of course it was manufactured in China and my arms could not push through the sleeves - this is a common issue for me. Good supply of Halloween ornaments and Pride costumes. All items are priced very reasonably. The shop offers a clinic for free HIV testing including a full service pharmacy. The thrift shop is a non-profit business and all proceeds go toward AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

I love the great selection of clothes, shoes and accessories this store has curated. Staff are always helpful and friendly. I highly recommend going to Maria, the (Lead Cashier) at the Lauderdale store. Maria is very efficient, patient, friendly, kind & always making my thrifting experience pleasant & fun. Working in customer service is never an easy task but the fact the Maria can provide phenomenal customer service, and the ability to manage difficult and rude customers while always remaining calm, profession and smiling is her virtue. I LOVE this location and only come to this location because of Maria plus thrill of thrifting is to find unusual and unique pieces that you wouldn't find anywhere else.
