I tried almost their entire line up of products (other than cleansers and masks) for two weeks now. I have to say I can see significant result with in first four days, my inflammation calmed down my skin is so smooth and bright! I am 37 and my mom is 63 we are both using the same products as we have the same skin concerns, it is showing wonderful results on both of our skin. I am one who prefers to shop for makeup and skincare online, however I was in the area and in dire need of these staple products so I decided to make the trip up Prince St to this store. The interior is clean and clean complete with Instagramable an light up logo. There were plenty of products from Deciem's full range as well as testers. I will take one star off because although I am not the type to ask for (or want) sales associates to assist me in makeup stores, the cashier who rung me up was actually the worst. I ended up picking out their moisturizer and B oil which was described to me as a concoction of all the other oils combined (promote anti aging, reducing blemishes and overall retain hydration). My friend recommended me to come for some cheaply priced face care stuff. I came with my sisters and we were pretty confused as to what we should get. One of the associates there, her name was Crystal, and she was so helpful in giving us recommendations and answering all our questions. She was really knowledgeable about all their products. I got myself the nicotinamide with zinc for my acne prone skin. For less than $6, it's not bad to try. Much cheaper than my eltaMD sunblock with nicotinamide which costs me like over $30 every 1.5 months.Anyway,added this to my regular skin care regimen (dapsone, sodium sulfacetamide,) and used it for 2 days so far so haven't really seen much change yet. Really late review. I paid this place a visit during their opening months, at a time when it was difficult to order them directly from The Ordinary online. The employee working there was so friendly and helpful, and she was clearly a fan of the brand and knowledgeable about skincare ingredients. Highly upset with the customer service provided at this store. For a store that has a lot of products that could use explaining, you would thing the customer service would be top notch though it was far from it. My friend and I came in on a rainy Saturday when we were the only people in the store, looked around picking up products and reading for a good 10 min, while the group of four works stood around the back counter talking, not even acknowledging that we were there. Horrible Customer Service!! I use several Ordinary products and I am obsessed. I was so excited to take my friend to Deceim, we had heard the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, that was completely not the case. We spoke with the first woman and she was short and rude and extremely unhelpful. When telling her what types of products we were looking for, she said 'we needed to try the products ourselves.' We assumed this woman had a bad day, so we went to the other woman that was working there- she was twice as rude and scoffed at the questions we had. I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed that I had brought my friend to Deceim in the first place. Anyone that knows the Ordinary products, knows that they are very confusing and some guidance is absolutely needed. Not to mention, that if you use some of these products together without knowledge, this can be very harmful to your skin. If I were the owners of Deciem/ The Ordinary, I would be ashamed and completely embarrassed that these were the types of people that were there to promote their products. If I were an interested customer, I would suggest doing your research before stepping foot in this store. Or better yet, go buy The Ordinary at Ricky's. I've been using the ordinary for years but Deciem hands down has the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I placed an online order for pickup and this location was missing 1 item, cancelled my entire order, and never notified me. The customer service agent I had to talk to was dumb as a doorknob and needed a supervisors assistance every 5 minutes, though no progress or resolution was made. NY hot cosmetics shop in Nolita, recommended by 2 in-the-know New York friends. Very affordable products, and cutting edge look with science lab looking shop. The entire shop was heated with heat lamps, the space looked like it could have been a quick alley they put a roof on to make a buck. Railroad style layout, great hip look with tiled walls, big black graphic quote on a center wall, and neon signs. The cosmetic industry is HUGE with Millennials and Gen Z's, and this shop has it going on. Bought an acid face syrum, works like an exfoliator.. it's great! Only cost $8! First, I love Deciem products and have been using The Ordinary regularly since it first came out and before Lauder acquired it. I am sure if you need help that the staff here is very helpful. For me, they were a little too "helpful" and borderline rude but I also get that they deal with out-of-towners and newbies regularly. Some tips for the sales staff and I hope anyone I encountered today was not actual management. 1. Not everyone that comes into your store is a novice, first-time product purchaser/user, or tourist. If someone says "no" to needing help, leave them be for the entirety of their visit unless they approach you. OR get a special basket for people to take to indicate they want to be left alone unless they approach you (neurodivergent individuals like myself would really appreciate this). 2. If you have directional signage to not handle the product, A) don't scold your guests by using language like "As per the sign..." when your sign is off to the side, not in the line of sight of the display product, and the writing on the sign is tiny AF. Put it above or below the actual product so it is in the sightline, then you can address the customer like they are a dumb ass with even more confidence when they still touch the product that you have out of the box on display to make it appear they can touch it as we could pre-pandemic. Side note: We are all trying to maneuver through this pandemic thing. I offered to buy the one I touched but the salesperson said "No" cheerily as someone in a biohazard suit whisked it away to the dystopian infected reject product bin in the back. (I made that part up starting with the biohazard suit but it would not have surprised me .) 3. Also, don't have display product out, period, if people can't touch it with. You can put a picture of the product bottle in front of the actual packaged product if you want a display solution to show what the bottle looks like. 4. When ringing a guest out don't assume the customer doesn't know how to properly use what they are purchasing or that they are buying both of the products for themselves or make it seem like you are about to refuse even selling it to them by pushing and arguing for three rounds before they inform you of their credentialing and tell you to just ring it up... I feel like I was harassed by the staff with passive-aggressive "helping" tactics. No thanks. Unfortunately, this is the closest location to where I live but will either order online or go to a different spot or maybe not on a weekend because something was just off with this team today. But again, and to be fair, I am sure they are great for people who really don't know Deceim products, there are plenty of reviews about that too. I just had a different type of thing today and I think there are some small improvements in the display that could be made to remedy some of this. read more

The Ordinary is wallet-friendly, and you can get both The Ordinary and NIOD--about as good a skincare line out there that outperforms products three times more expensive--fulfilled through online orders. However, for some products and guidance, I'd highly recommend a visit to this new store-front, especially for The Ordinary's color line and for NIOD's two different concentrations of Photography Fluid. The sales staff are all friendly, available, and helpful, and terrifically knowledgeable. However, they also leave you to browse in peace. I was especially wowed by Nerissa, who not only recommended the perfect shade for The Ordinary's foundation (so pigmented that even the serum can serve as a concealer) but also counseled me on the correct way to use Photography Fluid Opacity 12%. Without the slightest bit of pressure or even using any up-sell, she convinced me to purchase Photography Fluid 8%, another game-changer. (She was also frank about a few items I'd purchased but found disappointing from the Hylamide line). The store also has a no-questions-asked, insanely generous return policy. I doubt I'll ever set foot in Saks, Barney's, Bergdorf's or Bendel's again. read more

Really nice clean store with generous and friendly staff. I love how much open space there is and the aesthetic is very much in line with the brand. They keep all their products really clean and hygienic although they are really open to you trying all the products without forcing anything on you to buy. Any of the serums are great for mixing and matching. I will say though that the lighting in the store is a little difficult for foundation matching. I asked to be matched to a foundation shade and it was nearly impossible to see if it was the correct one. The staff then kindly brought me outside to look at it under direct sunlight but unfortunately, I was not matched to the right shade. That being said, their return policy is incredibly generous so I just brought back the foundation for a full refund no questions asked. read more

I LOVE this place! I came here on the hunt for their line, The Ordinary. I really appreciated the attentive customer service I got from here and I wasn't pushed into buying any product. Although they did not have the eye serum I was looking for in stock, I ended up buying the marine hyaluronic serum for hydration and niacinamide and zinc serum for pore clearing. The marine hyaluronic has a thin consistency but does a great job of hydrating and making my skin more even-toned and plump. The niacinamide and zinc combo did an awesome job of zapping my clogged pores without drying out my skin too much. My order total was only $14 which is basically the equivalent of three facial wipes at Sephora.... Needless to say, you have to come pay a this store a visit! Your wallet will thank you and so will the environment because Deciem is very environmentally conscious. read more

However, with Sephora and Ricky's currently carrying their line I thought why not try my search again. And I found this location!!! All the skincare products range from $5~ to $13~, a definite steal. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Some products are out of stock but you can call the store ahead of time to see if they have the product you want. It's definitely worth a trip. My sister brought me because she fell in love with some of the ordinary products. She said the sales person who helped her last time was super sweet and helpful. This time when we went, I had a question abt some of the products but the lady was super rude. She was a short older white lady ( she seemed almost middle aged ?). When I asked her about the difference she told me she couldn't see what they were so I read the names to her. She got annoyed and then looked up from the iPad and said just give it to me. Even after she looked at the products she asked me if I had tried it on my hand. When I said no, she looked at me and said, so try it on your hand then. I walked away because she was being so rude. Just as we turned around someone was asking about another product and this same lady just replied, have you tried it before ? No? So just try it on your hand. Her coworker came up to me moments later and was very sweet. She was super helpful and thorough explained what the difference between some of the more similar products were. When we were ready to check out, the First Lady decided to ring us up. I also had something to return. When she asked me why I was returning I just explained that it didn't work with my skin and that I guess I didn't like how primers feel on my skin. She got upset and said, so why did you buy it then? I know I don't like primers so I just don't buy it. I was taken aback and just replied that I just wanted to try it out. I really think that something needs to be done about the customer service at this location. I found Deciem because I was specifically looking for products by the Ordinary which is a mostly online only skincare line. The Ordinary has it's own section and staff in the back of Deciem, almost like a pop-up. I love The Ordinary because they offer great skincare products at a really great price for the average consumer. I'm new to facial oils, but the staff is really helpful explaining all their products. The Ordinary is almost like an entry level type of brand into all natural skincare but I can say that I see results with every product I've used. As a bonus, I can leave the store spending about $20 on a whole skincare line which is a first! Decien itself has many more natural brands that are fun to explore and sample ranging from haircare to deodorants. It's really easy to shop because they have such a curated selection and their staff can explain anything you might need help with. read more

TLDR: Useless sales people I was excited that there was a Deciem storefront in nyc, since previously I purchased items when I was in Canada. On entering the store, I was ignored by the person at the door, and when I asked where the Ordinary products were, I was vaguely directed that they were on the right - when actually they were at the very back of the store. I was there on a Monday afternoon, and when I entered there was not a single other customer. There were at least 3 staff there. So you would think one of the staff would have time to help me. I didn't even get "if you need help let us know" Not that I always like the hovering of Sephora staff, but I felt like I was bothering the salesperson when I asked for assistance choosing a foundation colour. She was so completely useless and unhelpful. I always have problems choosing a foundation bc of my freckles. She shows me a card, with all the colours, and I'm like "I don't know what shade I need. I don't know what my undertones are. That is why I asked for help." Then she proceeds to swipe them on my hand. "I don't plan to wear foundation on my hand, I am going to wear it on my face" (of the little I know, I do know it needs to match my neck). So I swipe it on my neck, and I cannot tell anything bc of the lighting, plus it's hard to see the side of your neck on your own, and she doesn't proceed to offer any help. So I finally choose something that seems like it might be close (at least the price is cheap, so it's not the end of the world if it's not), and she walks off with my purchase leaving me holding a pile of dirty sponges. There is no obvious place to put the trash, and when I ask where the trash is, the woman just points vaguely back to the shelf with jar of clean sponges. So I look around, and finally see a wastebasket. When I paid, I was glad to find out there is a return policy, since I am pretty sure I will need a different shade. I love the Ordinary skincare products, but I guess I'll just stick to advice from Reddit, since these salespeople aren't going to give me any. Maybe the weekend staff is more helpful, or maybe I should go to the Brooklyn store. read more

The products seem decent but the packaging and sales team are a disappointment. After one sales person did a poor job of color matching my skin for a foundation, I took it upon myself to try to find a color that worked better for my skin. Unfortunately, the foundation bottles are poorly designed and have to be pumped at every angle to allow the foundation to come out. While attempting to find the correct angle for the pump, the foundation squirted out and splatter painted my entire shirt. The sales people ignored my situation and when I asked them how to get the foundation out, they replied that they didn't know how and it was permanent. I've been trying to scrub my shirt but it looks like I'll have to throw it away. I like the concept of this company and store, but the customer interface and product packaging need help. read more
