The store wasn't not very busy today, seeing that all the employees were congregating by the entrance. As a healthy skin conscious consumer, im very particular regarding the different skin care i use. In retrospect, This might not have been the best store for me. Most of their products are actually cosmetics, geared towards "serving looks" as opposed to nutrition of the skin. I ask for something very specific and was offered everything but. She understood all of my skincare and concealer concerns and suggested some great additions to my routine while not pushing me to buy products I didn't need. Got a gift from my old work's office building from here. The candle smells like the armpit of my ex-boyfriend from years ago, like omg smells SO GOOD - smells like apricot! That sounded ridiculous but the candle smells like heaven-- yeah that's a better adjective for a review. The lotion is also so pretty! It's called Cleopatra Hand Cream. How beautiful. I'm such a fan of cute packaging! Love the blue bag also. Will probably keep for odds and ends in my apartment since it's pretty sturdy :) photos attached. I'd always wanted to try an eyeliner but never got to do that because of my sensitive eyes. After listening to me, Di showed me a variety of options and did demonstration on my eyes patiently one after one while I was not able to set on one. Thanks to her deep knowledge on the skin and the product, I was finally able to find what I liked. I also loved a mild exfoliator she recommended for my skin. I visited this location a few times recently and was blown away by the customer service i was provided- a true 5 star service! The staff is friendly and attentive as i was greeted the second i walked in every time. They make sure you are attended to immediately. I was assisted by D who is the manager there. She is knowledgeable, passionate and patient. She showed me a selection of products to find the best fits for me and made recommendations based on my needs. I have been to other Blue mercury boutiques and their customer service is not at all comparable. This will be my go location going forward. I highly recommend it. read more

If you're looking for a facial - look for another location. Love this store as they carry a wide array of my favorite skincare products and are always fully stocked. I've had facials at a couple other Bluemercury stores and have loved them. I've always had very knowledgeable aestheticians elsewhere. Not this location - she put maybe three different products on my face (cleanser, toner, and moisturizer), 75% of the facial was a shoulder massage (don't get me wrong it was nice - but not what I paid for). She told me the facial was over and I was honestly shocked.. will not be returning to this location for their spa services. read more

Alright store, lots of different brands and a bit scattered. Pretty friendly staffs and a clean place. Convenient with subway lines at walking distance from Union Square. Pretty reasonable prices and have a couple decent brands that I used or use but I usually go to the original stores for them anyways. There's a spa at the back too. I have to agree with the other reviewers on this one. Incredible selection, pushy sales staff. In search of a particular brand of moisturizer, my internet research led me straight to Blue Mercury. The layout of the store is nice, and it is jam-packed with hard-to-find skincare and makeup brands. There's a beauty counter for experimenting and I think they do makeup application and even some spa treatments, though I didn't really go that route. Rather, I walked in with a specific product in mind and was greeted by 10 meandering staff members and zero customers. Mind you, all I wanted was to walk in, find thing I'd planned to buy, buy thing and walk out. Instead, the female saleslady tried to talk me into buying different thing. Then suggested I buy another thing for my daughter's teacher. Daughter? Daughter of age to have schoolteacher? Do I resemble someone from "16 and Pregnant"? No. And now I feel old. And can I please just buy expensive thing that I wanted to buy in the first place? Nope, apparently now you want my full name and email address. No! Leave me alone. Flew into town and ran out of almost everything. I needed a cleanser, toner, moisturizer. Normally I would go to Dermalogica where I get my facials done and have been using their products for years. But I stubbled upon this place and loved it. They carried Dermalogica but also other brands. I was hesitant to try something different but I'm glad I did. I have been introduced to a new line M:61 and Indie Lee. I love it. I am actually planning to go back to get a moisturizer before heading back to Atlanta. read more

incredibly ignorant/rude staff. I called because I had buyer's regret, I was pushed into buying an eye cream that was extremely expensive. On the way home I lost the receipt. I called and asked if I could still return the unused item. The girl who answered the phone told me that "maybe" they can. She said they usually need the receipt but since they took all my info when I purchased it, they "may" be able to give me a refund. I asked if they would or not. She told me it was up to the manager's discretion. I asked if I had to go all the way in there and they may, or may not, refund me. Like Russian Roulette. Her answer? "Uh huh". wow. She didn't even offer to put the manager on the phone. Idiot. I spent over $150 for a stupid eye cream and now I certainly will NEVER shop there again. One star because they have my favorite face wipes. But the service here is the worst. The people who work there are always on their phone or chatting with each other and ignoring customers. I go here once a month for a product refill and have never had a good experience. When I went there two days ago and the woman at the checkout counter literally finished her text before ringing me up. I really don't understand all of the negative reviews for this place. I think it is awful to report negatively of a store's staff unless they do something downright horrific. "Pushy"? They make commission. "Bored/useless"? You probably make more money than they do! Anyway... in my experience here, my sale's lady Tammy was just wonderful. She directed me to a product line that completely transformed my skin and worked within my budget. There were like 5 working there Saturday at around 4 pm and they all looked so bored when I walked in. I don't love their level of service and making a return/exchange isn't always the easiest process. I still much prefer Sephora given their quality of customer service & easy return/exchange policy. However, I do love that Blue Mercury carries brands & product that isn't available for purchase at Sephora, such as Molton Brown and Khiels. I also love that they carry a variety of unique, specialty candles so I'd only go to Blue Mercury for what isn't available at Sephora. read more

I actually really like this location. The sales staff always answer my question and try to point me in the right direction of what I should try for my skin. When I am looking for a specific product, they point me in the right direction, but they also suggest other products I may enjoy. This is actually the "high end" way of retail. Ever go into a nice boutique to try on one dress you saw online and they pull other items you might like but wouldn't pick out off the rack? Yeah, it's kind of like that. Yes, some of the staff looks bored, some are more experienced than others, but overall they are able to ring you up and check you out without much hassle. And, for what it's worth, I always leave with samples. read more

I walked in to get my makeup done and Jeannie from Trish Mcevoy did my make up. She was polite and attentive and paid attention to all my skin care needs. Also I looked fabulous for the entire night. With my makeup I wanted to get lashes done but they were out so it was from another brand- she asked one of the other employees to put lashes on me (I have to pay for it) and they tried discourage me from getting lashes. Initially I pushed but with the way the staff of blue mercury was acting I did not want them touching my face. Jeannie is amazing and I will continue to see her. As for the other staff members of blue mercury I was disappointed in how they treat their customers. No one wanted to help me or be bothered with me. If you are in the business of sales you have to have good customer service skills in order to make good business. I think Blue Mercury opened too many stores too fast. They wanted to expand and lost much of what made them unique. I wish they carried more brands and were attentive to clients and customers. That is rule #1 for good business!!! Not many people know about this place compared to Sephora, Ulta, and the department stores, yet they have over 40 locations nationwide. That just doesn't make sense to me, and then I read the other reviews and saw why. Their website shipping is also extremely slow, so if you can get it elsewhere I would go that route. read more

I love this store. I think everyone that works there is well educated on the products they sell. Yes, they sell very high end products but they are products you can't buy at the Sephora down the street. Everyone working at this location has always been extremely nice and helpful. This is one of the only stores I can buy R & Co hair products and they sell travel size bottles as well. Oribe is also expensive but great. I actually really like their own line of facial/body products. I am a product junkie and I rarely leave without buying something. They also have gift bags a few times a year if you spend a certain amount of money. I also always get samples when checking out. My only complaint is occasionally I feel a bit pressured to buy something. One other thing which is not a complaint but I wouldn't buy makeup here. Sephora is great for makeup and most of the lines they sell at Bluemercury you can find at Sephora and you can get points. read more

So like most of the other reviews I do like the store and the products they carry. The store also gives out samples, which has helped me for opinions of the products so that I can come back and buy them. HOWEVER...the girls working there are below par. Especially the Bobbi Brown girl and I love that line. She is super rude when you tell her what you want and she thinks that you don't know your own skin. I mean suggestions are appreciated, but she will be down right mean. Once she told me that I needed to be a big girl and spend money on my skin care and not just makeup. Sometimes you can't afford to drop $500 all at once. The last time I went she told me prices for products and I even questioned them, because they seemed low. When I got to the counter the total was way higher than we discussed. At that point I had already spent time picking out the right product for me in my budget and didn't have time to start over. Very frustrating! I am partially mad at myself for continuing to go back, but I like the actual store and products. This Blue Mercury location is the most unprofessional, unfriendly store of all the others. The girls are distant and not accommodating with an attitude. I always shop in the 6 th Avenue store and love the employees and the energy throughout that location. This Union Square store is not worth shopping in. You leave feeling like you should not have bought anything there. It's like they are doing you a favor. They will not give you a sample and don't know the merchandise. This high-end beauty and skincare store is a good substitute for midtown dept stores. There are two Sephora stores within 3 blocks of here. While there is some overlap in inventory, Blue Mercury carries La Mer and Revive and Kiehls, Dermalogica, Skinceuticals, for example, that aren't at Sephora. They don't have a loyalty program. There is a spa with full services in the back which I would try it if I wasn't committed to my facialist across the street. Prices are mid-range (50min basic facial or 60min massage $95). There's also fragrances and candles. It's nice to see more nice shops vs electronics/cell phone stores open up in this area. read more

Went in to buy my usual skinceuticals and decided to pick up a mascara. the woman was very helpful but then i called back to ask why it wasn't in my bag. they then took 20 minutes, two call transfers and one long hold on the phone to finally get an answer for a simple question. it seems like you don't need much of an education to work in this USQ shop. they very unhelpful and unsympathetic about THEIR mistake and losing another customer. how many reps does it take to screw in a light bulb before this place starts to lose more clients. read more

I go to this Blue Mercury a lot. It is a great location. Its a cute boutique style store which makes you feel like your in a luxurious place without having to be in an overly priced place. Its the perfect mix of Sephora and a Department store. They wont pressure you but they will sit you down to do makeup if you want. Everyone that works there is cute and nice and informative. They have a spa in the back (I have not tried this yet). You can test ALL the product before you buy (which I believe is very important). If you want to go to a Beauty Store that has hair products, makeup, skincare, nail polish, candles, and more all in one Bright Clean space this is the place to go. This is the newest store and has only been open about 4months. The store is beautiful and they carry Jo Malone (!!!), have a spa in the back (the waxing is almost painless), and the staff is awesome and fun and knowledgeable. They have visiting makeup artists from the different lines too. All in all I'd rather go here than to the amateur hour around the corner. read more

This is a great store for one stop shopping beauty products. The sales woman was extremely nice and helpful (admittedly a good sales person) but I love everything I bought. And I got a free gift which was good sized bag stuffed with samples. Will definitely be back. read more
