Deck Doc just finished power washing, sanding and staining my deck, and I am 100% satisfied with their work. I scheduled the work around last November, as I wanted my deck to be refinished and looking good for the full 2025 season. The first days with decent weather in late April the deck was washed, and by early May the deck was finished. A crew of 2 worked a full day power washing and bleaching the deck and 2 sections of yard fencing. Every part of the deck was thoroughly cleaned, including areas not normally visible, and all areas of the deck that were surrounded by bushes. Within about a week, as soon as we had a few sunny days and warmer weather, a crew of three worked a full day sanding and staining the deck and fence. The deck floor was power sanded, and all other surfaces were hand sanded, before all sawdust was carefully blown away and stain was applied. Deck Doc did an outstanding job, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. Communications regarding scheduling were excellent, work was done competently and on the days and at the times promised. Last Summer we had Deck Doc redo our deck and are still very happy with the results a year later. As much of our existing deck planks were rotting, they tore down the deck to the base structure and rebuilt it. I'd give more stars if Yelp allowed me to do so. The finished product turned out awesome. Let's start from the first interaction. I scheduled an appointment and had a quick reply with a meeting shortly thereafter. SEAN was awesome. He came out to take a look, and my deck hadn't been kept up all that well. He took a look and gave me his analysis. He provided me with options along with his recommendation. A few days passed and I received the quote. I called Sean to review it and he was looking out for me and ways to still do things right but not break the bank. We agreed to get to work. The guys arrived and started the repairs. I needed more repaired than initially thought. I knew it wasn't in great shape so I had expected that. We completed phase 1 and they basically rebuilt my whole top deck. It turned out awesome. Most recently they came to sand and stain and that really turned out great. My deck previously had the paint/stain. Because the people that applied that did so on both sides it caused major issues. Deck Doc hit it out of the ballpark. Again. Our pine wood deck is about 30 years old. In 2020 deck doc did a great job (separately reviewed). Now, 3 years later this geriatric deck was looking pretty bad and a few boards were rotting.. This time Deck Doc replaced the boards, sanding all down to raw wood. The rails, which didn't have any work for 8 years received a Benjamin Moore solid stain. The deck surface was a transparent Rymar extreme weather stain, recommended by Deck Doc and a change from what we had been doing. The craftsmen who did the carpentry and staining were excellent. At every step each person involved with this project always did something extra . For example: power wash the deck - sure we'll spray down the grill, 3 season room and that concrete grit the sloppy patio guys got on the house brick. Loose railing - fixed. Can't decide on the right stain color? Here, let's try a couple different ones. Get the idea? Accommodating. Deck Doc excelled in being responsive. This company is absolutely exhausting to work with. I would've totally understood their hesitation to see a deck far more in 2020 than now. Actually not even then. You don't have to make any physical contact with someone to drive past a deck and look at it. Our condo board sent photographs of both sides of the deck. I described the deck down to the story and the shape of the building. And the price I got was FIVE TIMES the price of what we paid another company last year. This company was still confused about how the deck looked. I can only imagine what it's like to work with this company if it takes this many emails just to get an estimate. Hard pass. I have never had this many problems getting estimates from any other contractor, especially one that I sent photos to. And now their new response was "got mixed up yours with another project" even with a trail of emails underneath to refer to. If you use this company, definitely do some comparison shopping. If you don't know the average rate of some of these contract jobs, some estimators will really try to dupe you. read more

They did an expert job of stripping the old finish from our deck (including some troublesome spots) and then meticulously re-stained it. I don't think the deck looked this good when we had it installed. Special callout to Malika in the front office, who always kept us informed and helped when we had to reschedule our appointment. The DeckDoc servicemen always arrived on time, did a careful and thorough job, and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. We had an old fence power washed, sanded and sealed and a new fence sanded and sealed. The servicemen did not speak English which was somewhat frustrating. However, when questions or concerns arose, the serviceman in charge called DeckDoc's office and put me on the phone with his boss so the problem could be discussed and resolved. DeckDoc does an excellent job, but the most remarkable thing about this company is its responsiveness. When one of the servicemen dripped a few spots of stain on our cement patio, he immediately got on the phone with his boss and before I even knew what had happened, I was told that DeckDoc would come back and power wash the entire backyard patio, at no charge to me. We have 2 cedar decks and the one on the north side of the house is horrible to maintain ourselves. We tried early in the Pandemic, but realized it would probably take all summer and most of the fall to get it looking good. We called several deck restoration companies, and typically, many of them do not respond to an inquiry. Deck Doc is different. Quick response, knowledgeable personnel and very friendly. The quote was very reasonable for what I thought was a massive job. We did not employ them until high season and so we had to wait a few weeks for our appointment which was to be expected. On the first day, they cleaned and replaced a few of the floor boards and verticals which improved cosmetics a lot. On the next day, they stripped, sanded and stained the deck. Boy did it look great.
