I'm very disappointed with my experience with this company. I felt like the salesman who came out recommended a significant amount of work that was unnecessary, and the repair they ultimately offered was extremely overpriced in my opinion. The price they quoted me was around $3,000, and I've included some pictures below. What concerns me most is the lack of trust I now have in their recommendations. I previously hired this company to do tuckpointing work for me. About three years later, I contacted them about touching up a few areas, and I was told the work was already in bad shape. When I reminded them that they were the ones who had performed the original work, the response was essentially, "Oh, we can just repair these couple of bricks. It's not a big deal." After that experience, and now being presented with what I believe is an unnecessarily expensive repair, I simply don't feel comfortable doing business with this company anymore. When you hire a company and spend good money on their work, you expect fair pricing, honest recommendations, and quality workmanship. Unfortunately, that's not the experience I had. read more

I reached out for an estimate on seemingly replacing some of the missing bricks of my chimney. The young man came out and gave me a very thorough and great explanation of what was going on with my chimney, including the trapped condensation and need for new lining and chimney rebuild. It all made sense as we keep having to replace the bricks and keep wondering why there is water leaking into the basement near the chimney. As another reviewer stated, Coast To Coast will not be the cheapest bid that you receive for your project. However, you have to evaluate the scope of the work to be performed, when considering the cost. I had other masonry companies with much lower bids, who only proposed to tuckpoint over the existing cracked mortar and spalled brick. In effect it's like applying a temporary Band Aid. Eventually the new mortar will also fail. Coast To Coast ground out the joints, replaced approximately 30-35 spalled bricks and matched the color of the existing mortar. They then returned two days later to acid wash the brick.The finished product looks great. I can guarantee that those other companies with lower bids had no intention of returning once the pointing was completed. With Coast To Coast you get quality workmanship at a fair price. They inspected three furnaces on three different floors, and then determined the most efficient way to access the chimney was at the base in the crawlspace under the house. They effectively and quickly cleared the major blockage without having to make any invasive or costly cuts into the building through the inside. The entire estimation process was easy, with the appointment done at our convenience and reminder emails the day before. We had an unusual job and needed to find good talent. We hired Coast to Coast to repair a deep, wide gap between our front steps and sidewalk that was caused by settling. It was not a simple job because the sidewalk and steps are made of a uniquely colored pebbled concrete. Stanley didn't just do a fast cosmetic fix as others had previously done, he fixed it the right way! He meticulously collected and cleaned loose pebbles under the stair gap, so that he could use them later in the patch to match the pebbled sidewalk and stairs. He then carefully filled the gap with stone shards and other appropriate material to support the final patch. He did not rush. He thought about what he was doing. Coast to Coast gave me an estimate last year for removing flagstone that was randomly sprinkled in my brick front house. I didn't follow through with the project until a year later and they still honored the same estimate. They came out to my house within two days of me requesting the work and did an awesome job. Perfect! They do the job the right way, are neat and get the work done on time, and they don't take shortcuts. I had unsuccessfully tried off and on for three years to find a masonry guy to remove an old unused dryer vent then patch the hole with bricks, which sounds like a simple job but no one wanted to do it. Most contractors didn't even want to come onsite and the few that did wanted to do odd half-assed solutions ... one even suggested sending my wife out antiqueing to find something he could mount to the wall to cover the hole. That same contractor also wanted me to go out and find the replacement bricks. Romen from Coast to Coast was the only one to actually recommend removing the half bricks and replacing them with full bricks. He found the bricks himself and they matched extremely well considering my house was constructed using a unique tan brick back in 1964. I LOVE THESE GUYS! We just had brick columns installed on our gate at our lincoln park home. Every step was seamless. The estimate and booking the appointment were all done through email and payment was due upon completion of the job. I was thinking, ' these guys must be really good because they will put in the work, with no money down.' Let me just say,THEY ARE! They came on time the day of install, they were neat and efficient. We also had them install a mailbox in one post and conduit for a video intercom in the other post. When they finished, the area and the posts were cleaned. The experience was like being on HGTV. The columns are gorgeous. The color of brick was more red than orange, but they quickly corrected it by dying the bricks to match my house. Another perk is that they seamlessly attached my iron fence to the bricks. They cut very little of the fence and saved my bushes. I thought I would have to replace the whole fence, not so. This is a class act company. I have met very few contractors that are so professional. I really enjoyed communicating with Roman and his kindness, diligence and promptness to make the job perfect.
