During the final walk through I requested minor modifications to the downspouts, which Yan gladly did for me. My new gutters and downspouts looked great! Scope: New insulation, plywood sheathing, composite siding, soffit, and fascia for back wall. Replaced rim joist, headers, and other structural wood as needed from water damage. Re-installed windows and sliding glass door incorrectly installed by previous contractor. Rebuilt pressure treated wood deck with improved layout. Derrick's attention to detail and pride in his work translated to a solution that addressed all of my goals and helped me understand mistakes made by previous contractors. He spent hours reviewing options and brainstorming with me as more damage was uncovered and the scope had to expand as we went. I needed a contractor that will get the job done right and Im so glad that I hired Pulse. Derrick came out and measured the deck in minutes, provided samples and suggestions. I knew composite was the way to go so I don't have to worry about maintenance. Within an hour we had a plan. I had a hard time narrowing down colors but helped by offering his suggestions. The colors I picked were some newer options Trex released and Derrick said he was excited to see how it turns out. Derrick and Luke came out and when I watched them work I was highly impressed. They worked like machines; measuring and communicating like a good team should. Luke is clearly a highly skilled carpenter. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. Their attention to detail really showed and they kept me informed of their progress through an app with daily updates in what was complete. Communication was top notch and thats important to me. Pulse wasn't the cheapest company, but the value was great. You get what you pay for and Im glad that I finally have a beautiful deck to enjoy. I only wish the rest of my house was as nice as it puts the rest of it to shame. If you're looking for a job done right call Pulse.

I have very fine mesh gutter guards, and algae had started forming on top of them. They treated the problem with a bleach solution, hand-scrubbed the guards, tested the water flow, and made sure everything was draining properly. Their attention to detail really stood out. They also recommended a different type of mesh guard that may perform better long-term, but there was absolutely no sales pressure--just helpful information and honest advice. What really sets this company apart is the people. They are true Midwestern, salt-of-the-earth folks who clearly take pride in their work and care about their customers and being honest. While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. Based on my research and competing quotes, the cost for my chosen option was reasonable. I wanted better windows and I knew they would take a while longer to manufacture. Unfortunately, we were up against a deadline with winter coming and weren't able to sneak the job in before the weather turned consistently bad. It was definitely worth waiting for though. On the day of installation, the crew arrived on time, were very professional, and they did a fantastic job. I would definitely hire All Star again for another project based on price, quality, and service. This is a long overdue review which I hate to leave but don't know what else to do…read more We had our both our driveway and garage floor completely replaced in May 2021. Not a cheap job by any means. All looked nice at first but within 2 years, parts of both started showing signs of cracking and spalling. My husband called them back out to see what could be done and were told they couldn't do anything except replace the whole thing again? The explanation is the weather in Chicago is the reason. By the third year, the area where the garage floor meets the concrete driveway and parts of the driveway are crumbling. I didn't expect any of this within the first few years.. and I don't see other newer driveways in my neighborhood with this issue. Something was wrong with what they used or how they mixed their product. Now, water seeps into the garage through the cracks at winter time. It's extremely upsetting and each year that goes by, I get more upset. More and more crumbling. I wish they had better options for us or could do something without charging us for a full redo. Please make this right.

I scheduled the work around last November, as I wanted my deck to be refinished and looking good for the full 2025 season. The first days with decent weather in late April the deck was washed, and by early May the deck was finished. A crew of 2 worked a full day power washing and bleaching the deck and 2 sections of yard fencing. Every part of the deck was thoroughly cleaned, including areas not normally visible, and all areas of the deck that were surrounded by bushes. Within about a week, as soon as we had a few sunny days and warmer weather, a crew of three worked a full day sanding and staining the deck and fence. The deck floor was power sanded, and all other surfaces were hand sanded, before all sawdust was carefully blown away and stain was applied. Deck Doc did an outstanding job, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. Communications regarding scheduling were excellent, work was done competently and on the days and at the times promised. The area around the deck was left completely clean when work was completed. Thank you for making my deck look like new.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Etruscan Roofing! Shaun is extremely customer oriented, professional, kind, and prompt. His crew is outstanding. I first called them in the summer of 2016 and they did some minor repairs. They gave me an estimate to replace the roof which I did not do at that time. In late Fall of 2016, I had a leak in my master bedroom. Shaun came over immediately and put a tarp over the roof where we had a problem. It was too late in the season to repair due to the weather, but he promised it would be secure through the spring. I told him I wanted to go through with the replacement. He said by next year, the rates would increase, BUT he honored the original contract estimate. He was here this week for 3 days with a very pleasant crew who were polite and left my property clean. My only issue (which he FIXED immediately) was that a few of the birch branches from my front containers "went missing" during the construction . I asked if they had been put elsewhere, and he said, no...they probably were tossed. I said, No worries. I'll replace next year! He asked where I had gotten them, and in a few hours, he had sent me a photo of the replaced birch branches, already replace and put back in my containers, he purchased at Antons! His work ethic and level of integrity are both above and beyond. I wish every contractor worked like this. read more

We had 4 other roofers out over many long months to try and identify and fix a persistent roof leak coming from a complex part of our roof. One replaced a skylight, another re-welded the copper roof, a third re-caulked everything in sight. None of them even affected the leak, let alone fixed it. Each were called back when we leaked again, and they all pretty much said "I guess you need to replace the whole roof." A neighbor who had heard about our nightmare strongly recommended Shaun at Etruscan Roofing. So we called him, and we're so glad we did. We were impressed with his professionalism from the moment we first talked on the phone until the job was completed. He carefully inspected the problem before recommending a fix, gave us a concise explanation for what he identified as the problem, and bid out a solution that he guaranteed up front would solve the leak. His workers came when he said they would, and they did their work professionally, cleanly and on time. Most importantly, the roof hasn't leaked since. Now we've got a bone dry house and Etruscan has another fiercely loyal customer. So please don't make the same mistake we did - call these guys FIRST. read more

Trust me, these are your guys. I'm getting to the point where I've had just about everything done on this and a previous house, and I can say that having Etruscan replace our roof last fall, after a major hail storm essentially totaled it, was the best experience I have ever had. Shaun is knowledgeable, friendly, and no-nonsense. He's also extremely easy going and patient. Just as important -- unlike just about everyone else -- Etruscan has their own employees perform the work. This makes a huge difference in everything they do -- the crew was responsive, friendly, and very clean. I've heard horror story after horror story from neighbors who used one of those companies that just sub out the work to random crews. Not Etruscan. I should have written this review months ago and forgot. The reason I'm writing it now is that I texted Shaun today about a concern I had with ice in my gutters from the recent storms. He called me back within an hour -- during an extremely busy time -- just to tell me not to worry about it. That's the kind of company this is. Todd and his crews are just awesome to work with. They did a full roofing and gutter replacement for me in June 2020 that was covered by insurance and they were very easy to work and communicate with. There had been some minor leakage during an unexpected microburst while they were working on the roof, but Todd took care of it promptly and professionally. Now, 6 months later in December 2020, tree branches fell on our new roof. Todd was there immediately to put a temporary patch on the damaged shingles, quickly ordered replacement shingles and sent out a crew the day after they were delivered. The repair was simply perfect; you can't even tell where the shingles were replaced. I have had the absolute pleasure of recommending Etruscan to at least 3 or 4 friends in Skokie that have used them and have been equally delighted at the exceptional communication by Todd in working with them and insurance companies, as well as the expert craftsmanship that his gutter and roofing crews deliver. Etruscan replaced our roof last week and we are completely satisfied with the work itself. The owner, Shaun, had crews working non-stop for 2 days, despite the searing heat, to finish the job as quickly as possible. It looks beautiful as passers-by even comment. The cleanup was thorough and inconvenience minimal. Above and beyond job performance, though, Shaun was instrumental in getting our insurance company to adequately compensate us for the windstorm damage we incurred; we couldn't have managed that without his professional guidance. During the summer, I needed complicated and extensive roof repairing. After contacting a number of contractors , I chose Etruscan largely because Todd was able to size up the issues quickly and to provide a set of two options with varying costs and a broad timing as to when the job could be done. His bids for the job were professionally delivered and timely. Upon hiring, they provided an window of time as an estimate as to when the job could be done and kept me informed weekly of the effective date they could start. They ended up starting within the initial planned time window and completed on time in spite of additional repairs that I needed done. The work was high quality and done by a very pleasant crew. My house had wind/hail damage in the fall and and Carlos found the roof leak when others could not figure it out. I just had Carlos Medina from Etruscan come to my home for a quote to replace what appeared to be rotten facia. I couldn't confirm since this was 22 ft up on the second floor. Carlos pulled out his ladder, checked all the spots that had peeled paint and confirmed it did not need to be replaced. It only needed to be scraped and painted. Another company came by, never checked, and quoted me over $3k to replace the facia and paint. They never even pulled out a ladder to confirm. I appreciate an honest person and business. I highly recommend Etruscan!! From my initial interactions with Shaun, the owner, I had great confidence that they would do an outstanding job. They did not disappoint! In this era when roof shingles are thinner and underlayments more complex it is even more critical that installation crews are well-trained and closely supervised. Etruscan employs its own crews and qualifies them for specific roofing products. Shaun is a pleasure to work with and his hard-working crew did an excellent job, taking care of all details. Though the weather was bad before they could replace my roof, they sent workmen out to replace some missing shingles so water would stay out of the house until the new roof could be installed. They were also the only company to tell me I had a crack in my chimney cap which had to be dealt with prior to the new roof. No one else told me about this. Very professional. Hopefully I won't need them anytime soon but if I do or if any of my friends need roof work they would be the only call I would ever make. read more

Responsive, courteous, and knowledgeable . These are the three words that I was used to describe this company. I received a phone call back within a couple of minutes,appointment was scheduled, and work completed to satisfaction. In Chicagoland there are a lot of companies and as we know it is hard to get anyone to commit to a job and then follow up with solid work. I highly recommend Etruscan. Sean came out promptly for an estimate. Etruscan's estimate was substantially lower than the other estimates we received. In addition to fixing our roof, he saw that our gutters needed repairing..which the other roofer did not mention. The product he needed to fix our roof was hard to find..and Sean searched several sources until he found the perfect match. I am not understanding where all the positive reviews are coming from. I was looking forward to working with them, but struggled to get them to respond to me after getting our bid. I've emailed, I've called multiple times. I am sure they are busy but this is kind of ridiculous. I just lost two weeks waiting without a response. In the meantime, the spring rains have been leaking into our home, continuing to cause more and more damage. Now I need to start from the beginning with bids again. Not pleased. read more

Shaun is great! I had 3 other roofers come to give me an estimate and he was the only contractor who put on booties in my house and also climbed into the attic to do a thorough inspection. His pricing was right in line with all the others. The job was done quickly and efficiently and Shaun always responded when I reached out with questions. A caring company who does an excellent job of roofing and gutters for homes. We recently had our old roof replaced with Brava Aspen man made shingles. We also had new gutters with leaf guards installed. The job was professionally done in three days and with the brown roof accented by copper trim, it looks magnificent! If you're looking for a roofer - start with Tom's company Presidential Roofing…read more I found Presidential Roofing via Yelp and was definitely tops on my list for roofing companies due to the stupendous reviews. After having experienced the service and detail of this company - I'm completely convinced they are trustworthy, offer value and a good experience and should get a call for every roofing project. I've been considering a reroof for seven years as I knew my roof would need replacement along with skylights and gutters eventually, so I've read up about all there is about roofs and skylights and gutters. Tom arrived, and did a detailed assessment on top of the roof, and provided good feedback on my concerns. He noticed several things on his assessment and offered additional options on them including various ventilation ideas. I asked him about my siding as well - he thought my siding did not need replacement so we did not quote that out. He said that his crew would strictly be outside for the project and would not need to enter the home for any reason (even though we were doing an attic fan install, and skylight replacement). About 2 days later, I received a quote via email, and we chatted more about the details - particularly about my sky light replacements and the merits of different types of roof ventilation. Being my first quote, I thought the quote was definitely a good quote (verified later after four more quotes that I received - same shingles, harder sell job from others, and some did not even climb the roof at all). After all my quotes came in, I went with Presidential Roofing - scheduled for two weeks later Roof would take 2 days, Gutters half day. The week of the job - I received a note from Tom on the particular details of the week. Don't keep the car in the driveway or in garage, as they'll deliver and use the driveway for the materials/haul away for three days. Materials were lifted onto roof off a flat-bed truck crane Tuesday afternoon. Tom advised that the skylight replacement would create some interior dust/debris (so I used some painter cloth tarps/plastic covers taped to the ceiling). They left a small dumpster trailer (swept really clean btw) off to the side of the house (wooden planks so no tire treads in grass). Each day they would clean up around the home, and would do a magnet roller to catch any nails that would have fallen around the home. The project was done exactly on time as scheduled. They started at 7-7:30am - 6pm each day for the roof. The crew was great - they were friendly, detailed, and Tom called a few days later to ask about the roof. The final invoice arrived by mail the following week (no surprises - very close to the quote), when I had the payment ready - Tom dropped by to fetch.
