I stopped on my way by on 94 and Yelp is the reason I stopped. I started with the steak and potato…read moresoup which was creamy and delicious. Steak was soft and well seasoned. The review of the Reuben motivated me to get it and I am SO HAPPY I did. I wanted to lose myself in that sandwich. Tender meat that melts with each bite. It was well balanced with the flavors. I got the American fries as a side which were crispy they way I like them. Just as the other review stated it was a very filling meal. I took half home. The only negative is is live too far away to eat here weekly!!!

This was not good. I stopped by for breakfast. The place is attached to a gas station. I've had some great food from similarly arranged restaurants, but... not this time. I had a veggie omelet with hash browns and OJ. I tried to figure out what order to talk about these in, since they were all really, really bad. The veggie omelet... it was bad. The green onions, if I had to guess, had been prepped a few days earlier. They were greyish-green. Not close to fresh. It was just nasty. The hash browns.... they were bad. I've literally never had bad hash browns until I ate here. There was just this flavor.... it wasn't good at all. The OJ was sour. Yelp says to talk about the ambiance. There were some really offensive people playing dice at one of the tables. They were regulars. It was a pleasant distraction from the food. In short- don't eat here.

When traveling up to my hometown of Hayward a few times a year, we usually stop off in Eau Claire for lunch/dinner but will be making this restaurant our priority from now On. Round 2 one week later- my husband had been craving a good hamburger so this stop he had his hamburger and asked for his French fries crisp. I thought that was funny because our last stop here the French fries are already crisp which makes them the best French fries! Alas, his did come out a little darker and a little crispier. He said his cheeseburger was excellent and it was also huge, and he took 1/2 of his burger and fries out the door with him. He also had a cup of chicken and dumpling soup as I raved about it from our last visit. I ham an internal battle with choosing what I thought I should eat to save calories for our weekend, and what I wanted to eat. What I wanted to eat won so I ordered the Ruben with French fries and chicken noodle soup. Yummy. The sandwich was excellent with thin slices of roasted corn beef, just the right amount of sauerkraut and cheese and the Bo us is the sauce for the sandwich was served o. The side so I had co from over how much of the sauce went on my sandwich. Also 1/2 of my meal Went out the door with me. We really do look forward to making this one of our travel stops going forward over the years.

Then the portion sizes were fantastic everything always taste good. If you wanted value this was a place for you and your family....Now portion sizes much smaller and the prices have gone up past what it is worth. Tonight when we ordered...our salads came out first as always, we had just dressed our salads and the main entree was already at the table. When My family goes out to eat we would like to eat our salads then have the main come not at the same time. My husband had Beef and Gravy one of his favorites and the beef looked to uniform close to what a steakum looks like. Not much gravy and if he asked for some extra he would have been charged. I had the chicken strips and fries...the fries had a fishy taste like the oil was not changed. When we paid the bill I did complain to the owner/manager about what was wrong. I was told with all the people here you are the only one to complain. This restaurant in the the beginning there was always a waiting list, on a Friday and Saturday night. Tonight this restaurant was not even half full.

The corn beef frappe was good so was the Monte Cristo but they were just good not great. Both had melted cheddar - not a fan. The pie was much better. My family really liked it. At first glance it's a diner with a pie case but check the menu for some unlikely finds. The Wisconsin Reuben was delicious, loaded with thick corned beef and lots of butter and sauerkraut so you didn't even need the thousand island. I wasn't sure how a Reuben would be without rye but the cranberry wild rice bread was the real star of the sandwich. The corned beef hash was a bit salty but I'll take homemade over the canned stuff any day! I had to try a side of their sausage gravy because my southern roots demand it, and I can say it's a decent attempt with good amount of black pepper and sausage flavor. They have an extensive case of pies which were tempting but we were full from lunch. We ended up loving the bread so much that we took a whole loaf home. Service was friendly which was a relief considering we ended up coming in at 2:20 when they close at 3. Next time in the area I definitely want to try the pie and maybe a smelt wrap made with lefse!

It's the kind of place that doesn't just serve food, it serves belonging. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm "Good morning, hon!" and my friend had a coffee that could wake the dead (or at least a sleep-deprived newcomer). The décor is charmingly vintage, like your grandma's kitchen met a roadside diner and they decided to raise pancakes together. I ordered the chicken sandwich for breakfast! Don't judge it's a thing. because I didn't know what I was doing, and wow--turns out Rosie knows exactly what I needed. It wasn't fancy, but it was perfect. The staff made me feel like I'd been coming there for years. They joked, they chatted, they refilled my soda before I even realized I needed it. It was the kind of kindness that makes a city feel like home. Rosie's isn't just a café--it's a welcome mat with syrup on top. If you're new to La Crosse, start here. You'll leave full, caffeinated, and smiling.
