I made an online reservation and the dispatch guy called me a few minutes later to confirm. The driver came right when I asked, picked me up from Palo Alto and drove me to San Jose. Luckily there was no traffic and by the time we got there, I still had some time before my interview. I was hungry and we saw a McDonald's nearby. So the driver went over and got into the drive through line. I was worried about the meter and told him I'd just go inside and walk back to the office. But he said not to worry about the meter. Instead, he stayed in the drive through line, waited with me and even treated me to coffee! When we got back to the office for my interview, I pulled out my credit card (yes, there's an app for that!) and he didn't charge me the whole amount. (Don't remember the exact meter, but I paid something like $45 instead of $60) He said that since I was looking for a job, he didn't want me to pay full price as long as I wrote him a Yelp review. I called and left another voicemail to cancel my cab and drove myself to the airport. I still haven't received a phone call or an email from Yellow Cab. I'm glad most other people had great experiences, and perhaps mine was a fluke, but it's a fluke which is going to cost me roughly $165 ($195 in parking fees versus ~$30 for a taxi ride and tip). Next time I'm going back to the Super Shuttle, which I don't really love -- but they've always gotten me to the airport.

So not only does this company not use a legal meter, but he charged me more than their quoted rates on their website! That is pure highway robbery!! $267 for a freaking cab ride to the airport? Zero heart. I did not want to argue, as I had a plane to catch, but, I would never use a company that takes complete advantage of someone like this. This price gouging is horrible, and since they don't even use a meter....how are they legally able to get away with this?
