    Strawberries, so good
    Dave F.

Far and away the best strawberries I have had. Extremely friendly people too. Will definitely be back. After having a few strawberries I feel like I should have bought more so I'll have to go back!

The turkey and roast beef are my go to lunch meats and they have generous portions. Love the horseradish cheddar they offer too. The food is high quality and they've never made a mistake on my orders or made me wait too long. I also appreciate the online ordering system they offer so you can save time. I don't live in Torrington, so for me it's really convenient. Highly recommend you try this spot.

You can immediately understand why it has been a staple of the Torrington community for decades. I'm looking forward to returning to try the frozen pastas, specialty items, and famous hot buffet, which I did not sample during this visit. Unfortunately, the deli sandwich itself fell short of what I had hoped for. The portion was generous, but the selection was somewhat limited. I ordered mine on what was described as a "hard roll," but there was nothing hard or crusty about it. It seemed to be ordinary soft bread shaped into roll form--fluffy, nearly tasteless, and without the character or soul of a proper Italian roll. It detracted considerably from an otherwise generously made sandwich. The retail-brand white and wheat bread displayed for customers who wanted sliced bread should probably have been a clue that authentic Italian loaves were not part of the deli selection. Since it is tomato season, I was also disappointed that the tomato and all produce on my sandwich's. They tasted as though they had been nearly frozen - bought cheaply as commodities. Like the bread, unimportant to the sandwich experience ? Two stars overall: two for the genuinely tremendous people and one for the history, authenticity, and wonderful old-school character of the store. There is a great deal to appreciate here, and I will gladly return--but next time, I'll explore the prepared foods and specialty items rather than the deli sandwiches.

Every candy here is curated from all over the world. You can find amazing Swedish candies to Italian hard candies. Everything is so organized and so fun to look at! It was so fun to ask questions about where all the candy comes from and even try a piece to see what to get! You can scoop your own bag and feel all the nostalgia or buy a prepared bag or individual pieces. There is so much to choose from it can definitely be overwhelming but the woman at the counter was so patient with us and gave us some really awesome suggestions! My daughter loved their play station and it was a serious relief she was occupied with that so I could focus on finding some goodies for the fam. We opted for a variety of their sour Swedish candy and a bag of Italian hard candies. We even got this gigantic gummy worm and my daughter was just mesmerized at us pulling it out of the container! Though it's definitely pricey you are getting high quality candy from all over the world. This shop is incredibly unique. You do get a discount if you shop at their bakery first so definitely do that because I'm telling you are about to spend a lot because everything is just so good! Definitely will be here again!

BouNom Emporium is a small candy shop, offering candy from around the world from Sweden, UK, Spain, and more. There is an awesome variety of gummy candy that you can scoop into your own bag. Raspberry Lemonade Skulls, Watermelon Gummy Sharks, Pineapple Grapefruit Rings, and other fun flavors and shapes. If you love Peach Rings, you would literally be a kid in a candy store here. My husband likes this kind of gummy candy and hand picked a few different types for him to try. Since I visited around Halloween, there were a lot of fun Halloween shapes like vampire teeth and candy corn. I was also really excited to find the Sakura Matcha Pocky. They also had some of my favorite Kit Kats too. This place is truly unique and I haven't been to another candy shop like it. I loved the fact that they weren't wall to wall full of candy because it gets overwhelming. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the Avon ares.

In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Tulmeadow, I recently had Red Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow Toasted Cornflake, Chocolate Raspberry Raspberry Curd and the best flavor I've had this year -- Double Raspberry Crumbcake. The flavors all popped. The use of intensely flavored raspberry curd in a couple of the ice creams was next level. The colors were right on. The texture was top tier. Service was friendly and the farm setting adds to the experience. Tulmeadow is 5 Stars and I'm upgrading my earlier review.

It's also a textural thing for me. So there was a bit of hesitation as well. I thought the ice cream was excellent. They had great flavors to choose from. I went with the bestselling red raspberry chocolate chip, and then the burnt honey sea salt. Service was super friendly. I asked what the smallest size was that they could do two flavors in and they were more than willing to accommodate the kiddie cup, which was still plenty of ice cream for me. I think the sign said it's 3 oz, but it at least seemed like more to me. As good as the red raspberry was, I think I preferred the burnt honey. The flavor was strong went well with the naturally occurring cream flavor. There was a lot of parking on the side of the building. I think there was an indoor area, though I can't confirm if you can order ice cream inside. I used the outdoor window to order. I also found the prices to be reasonable. Great first experience. I would definitely recommend the ice cream. It did not disappoint, and I look forward to having it again.

My favorite purchases were the fresh cut egg linguine and the Ritz-based stuffed cod. The fresh linguine cooks in a minute and the texture just hits different in the best possible way. The cod was nice and firm and the Ritz stuffing was crazy delicious. I also liked the Chicken Francaise. You can't really compare it to restaurant quality Francaise because it's specifically made to be re-heated and eaten later. With this in mind, I though that the small chicken pieces and lemon sauce were very solid. My other purchases included clam chowder and Tuna Mac Salad with peas. The Tuna Mac was pretty good. It wouldn't be in regular rotation for me, but I'd get it once in a while. The clam chowder was my least favorite, but I respect that New England Pasta seemed to go for something different. The texture was good and it had plenty of clams and potato. But it tasted like it had a little blue cheese flavor. I can't say for sure that they used blue cheese, but the chowder definitely had something different that gave it this vibe. For me, this flavor was a bit too assertive. I don't live near New England Pasta, but if I did, I would visit once in a while. Four Stars
