We owe all the amazing dishes and ice cream to this farm! It's done an amazing job. It's also a beautiful drive to Litchfield.

So, when we visited the Dutch Epicure Shop, we had some high expectations. Epicure Shop is a righteous title, because they sell quite a bit of high-end epicure foods -groceries, soups, a huge deli, and a bakery with breads and pastries. They've developed a big reputation for their European pastries, breads, cookies and cakes. Yup, they make everything on the premises. As you walk around their store, you'll see German meats and sausages, Dutch and European cheeses, teas, jams, chocolates from all across Europe, and a selection of Dutch food and Dutch groceries. I was perplexed by the large selection of Indonesian foods here, but when I fired up the old Google Machine for an explanation, I learned that the Dutch ruled Indonesia from 1815 to 1920! Anyway, back to the food. We zeroed in on the bakery choices and picked up three items for $15. Our Blueberry Lemon Scone was pretty large and was topped with a delicate layer of vanilla icing. It tasted more of blueberry than lemon but was super fresh and delicious. The Almond Triangles were sold as a pair for $6. They were fantastic. Hidden between the sliced almond topping and a graham cracker-like crust was a sweet fruit layer that reminded me of apricot jam. These are addictive. The Raspberry Almond Fruit Tart was another layered treat with an almond glazed topping and a thin raspberry jam layer inside the tart. Our bakery treats were excellent and pretty reasonably priced for their home-baked quality.

Wed-Sun Such a nice shop, as soon as we walked in we were greeted which if I had to guess was the owner and a couple staff. lots of cheeses if looking to make a board, also looks like they do charcuterie boards as well. If looking for lunch, such a great menu. We did the French onion and the hog. We always split so we can try a little of everything. The hog was my favorite of the two but they were both spot on. Perfect day to sit outside and nosh on a crispy, crunchy, melty , cheese pulling sammich... I'm coming back for the Cuban and a few other things!

I got the Classic Grilled cheese and dipped it of course in some savory tomato soup. Happened to go on national grilled cheese day so they had a $5 special as well as the food truck out front which you can catch at various places. Service was quick and friendly and they even have a nice selection of cheeses you can sample and purchase on the side of the register. They have some outdoor tables outside because what's better than a grilled cheese on a sunny day. Can't wait to go back!

They had one of the flavors I wanted in a half gallon container for $20.00 dollars. But they were out of Vanilla, my other choice in the half gallon size container. They advertise on their sign inside "hand packed 1/2 gallon for $20.00 dollars." So I asked them to please hand pack 1/2 gallon of Vanilla. They wouldn't do it but because they were out of 1/2 gallon containers so they had to use 2 quart containers. Quarts are $15.00 each So I was charged $20.00 dollars for one 1/2 gallon and $30.00 for the second. All because they ran out of containers!!!! I was asked to pay $10.00 extra for the same amount of ice that they advertised because they neglected to stock the 1/2 gallon containers. I had to on principle leave empty handed. But everyone at the party loved the Carvel ice cream cake.
