Sooooooo... the food was not great. It was ok. The service was bright and friendly but it was late night and it seems there are noisy regulars who come to hang out with the staff - it almost had that "Cheers" vibe in a way, there was a decent group of them all along the front and they were loud and enjoying each others company. The coconut custard pie is a winner. This would be a two to three star experience except for the coconut custard pie and the fact that this is a legit 24/7 location. We need to support our 24/7's so they don't limit their hours!!

We stopped by to this diner for lunch on a weekday. It seemed like a staple in town. There were people there even during a work day. We ordered a breakfast sampler with corned hash and home potatoes and the gyro sandwich with French fries. They were pretty tasty.

I have been coming to this location for years, and the service has always been good. The food is good and the portions are huge.the new color scheme is wonderful for brightening the dining area and making it more cheery.

Look at this!!! Why would they serve me these burnt pancakes! The description said light fluffy and golden brown.

Nice classic diner..Good friendly quick service...The restaurant was clean...I got a western omelette with American cheese and bacon in place of the ham, and it was great...Cooked perfect...Watch out for the smokestack lightning across the street.

My absolute favorite meal served at Talk of the Towne is breakfast. Their variety is superior to most diners with two pages of their menu dedicated to this meal. Enormous omelets, combination platters, and skillets are generously represented. These are selections that are available all day. They have an additional menu from 7-11 for breakfast specials. I have had many opportunities to try their salad bar, and I am very happy with the freshness and selection. It includes standard salad and fixings as well as potato and macaroni salad. They also offer stuffed grape leaves, whole hard-boiled eggs, and pickled beets. The dinner selections include really good seafood. I have had both fried and broiled seafood platters and thoroughly enjoyed them both. I especially like their crab cakes, which I do not like from most restraunts. They also offer large burgers for both lunch and dinner. The service is amazing, and over the time that we have gone here, we have found them to be extremely friendly and attentive. Overall, this is a definite place to try, and the newly remodeled dining area is bright and welcoming. It isn't a long drive from Delaware, but it is very much worth the trip.

Waitress checked to see if they would take them off the bill but that didn't happen. Was told the ribs were all the same because the chef's religion didn't allow him to prepare pork. Really you run a restaurant and your chef doesn't want to prepare pork! I guess at breakfast you won't get bacon or scrapple! Won't be back

A drive through Salem makes you wonder what this city was like in its glory days. Beautiful old homes ... classic mansions and then we spot this classic diner on Broadway. Ok, it looks a little worn but in the same moment you are transported back in time to an era where diners like this one could be found everywhere. Walking up you spot the music machines in each booth that once upon a time were connected to juke boxes . As you walk in you feel the comfort of a diner and the waitress calls out a welcome ... A couple of soup options so it was classic choices ... a mushroom cheeseburger that the owner will slap on the griddle and a tuna melt. The conversation with the waitress was non-stop (it was 230 and at first no one else was eating. It was a fun diner experience! Food was delivered hot ... another customer so the waitress went back to work. A great lunch! Fries were perfect and the burger juicy and flavorable!! Tuna melt perfect .. Since it is hot coffee poured over ice, you get a very watered down drink. I would stick with a flavored hot coffee. Boston Cream French Toast - Creamy. From the Bavarian cream to the whipped cream topping, it was very wet for the meal. I would ask for the whipped cream on the side so it doesn't melt into the hot french toast. Side of Sausage - Great cook. These were links, not patties. The casing on the link gave the sausage a nice snap. It was served piping hot and very well charred on the outside. The massive dessert case greeted me, brimming with colorful delicious-looking pastries, cakes, and pies. I was seated promptly and handed menus which included their specials of the day; everything from lasagna to moussaka to stuffed peppers to barbecue ribs. My waitress, Dee, came over to ask for my drink and went away with my order. She appeared again quickly with my coffee, which was hot, and honestly - better than the standard cup of coffee in most places. Mmmm As I waited for my order I couldn't help but notice how happy their patrons are. It's 1:30pm on a weekday so I see a lot of people who look like retirees, along with a smattering younger diners and some folks in work uniforms. A couple was leaving and stopped to have a friendly conversation with one of the people who worked there. It's obvious they've known each other for a while, regulars. A table over starting singing "Happy Birthday" to their friend. The 70's and 80's songs were enjoyable without curbing conversation. My food came out faster than expected and was piping hot. Toast options are white, wheat, or rye. I requested it dry as I don't want it slathered with margarine or something unidentifiable. It came dry but they included two mini containers of real butter with it. Heaven! Dee came over and checked on me in a bit, offered me more coffee. More yum. Mmmm. Total cost for a Florentine omelette (spinach and feta cheese), a whole lot of home fried potatoes, two slices of toasted bread with real butter and jelly, coffee, and a comfortable friendly atmosphere: $14.45. I couldn't finish it and took about 1/3 of the plate home for later. I have no idea why they're not between 4-5 stars for a diner. Food is solid, coffee is fresh and hot, service is quick and friendly. I think they're worth every penny.
