Visited here for the first time on Sunday. The restaurant definitely has the traditional diner look but is very clean. Plenty of parking in the lot and we were seated very quickly. We went around brunch time. I orderer a western omelette with American cheese. It came with potatoes. It was really good. I will definitely return.

I have a fascination for sometimes going off the beaten path; avoiding the generic fast-food chains for something I've never had before. You never know when you might discover a hidden gem. With this place, it was off-putting from the moment I walked in. I can understand that it's 6:45 on a Wednesday night, but it's a very uncomfortable feeling sitting in a big empty dining room all by yourself and the only other customers you've seen are a few elderly couples who were just leaving as you came in. And then there's the other thing that's off-putting-the decor. My god, is this place outdated. When I think of a diner (not that this opinion is absolute), I try to think of something that's timeless, or at least charmingly dated, because it has a certain theme to it. This place looks like the house in every 70's/80's sitcom, with tile ceilings, wooden half walls, dividers decorated like stairway bannisters, and a lot more that makes you almost hear "Honey, I'm home!". But as for the food...thankfully it was alright. I wish my cheesesteak had more cheese instead a bit of a clumsy mess of oversized meat and bacon bits, but I've had worse. I was especially happy that the fries had a practically perfect golden brown, without being dry or soggy. So in conclusion...eh. Like I said, I've had worse, but at least right now I don't have a reason to go back as soon as possible. Maybe I should've listened to the waitress and gotten a burger...

I can't count anymore how many times we have been here. We come here pretty much every weekend and it is consistently wonderful. Always so fast too even when they are packed. I love their omelets and my husband typically goes for the country fried steak, chipped beef, or eggs benedict. Everything is always just so good.

Cute and cozy diner with lots of great food! The staff are very friendly! Breakfast on a weekend afternoon really hits the spot. I had French toast with Italian sausage. One of my new favorite local diners! Coffee is always fresh!

We were quickly seated for breakfast and there were already a good amount of locals dining in. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and refilled out coffee cups constantly. After we ordered we got our meals fairly quickly. I got the country omlete with bacon, ham, sausage, green peppers, onions and cheese. It also came with a side of home fries and toast which came toasted and buttered. The omlete was absolutely delicious ! Home fries were okay. Overall for diner food it's pretty good! Coffee was decent as well. I like the atmosphere and it's pretty close to my house which is always good. My friends liked their meals as well. Good prices for decent diner food!

Clean, great service, classic diner experience. Simple menu, great value. Wrap with egg, spinach and corned beef was satisfying, but a little plain. I added hot sauce and salt. Route Special platter was hearty and tast:. 2 big pancakes, 2 flavorful sausage patties, 2 over-easy eggs, and unique home fries (similar to a shaved potato with crispy and softer parts). Brewed iced tea was crisp and plentiful, with a fresh lemon wedge with each refill. Staff seemed to be locals, friendly and attentive. Guests were an older crowd, which didn't bother us. 2 TVs to watch. Fast, friendly service by a young guy. Dessert case had only grocery store pies (not homemade). As we left at noon, salad bar was being put out and looked good. Cheap cost:$20 plus tip for 2 breakfasts and 1 drink. I told the owner (cashier) on the way out that I added him to Yelp, but he didn't fully understand the site, I don't think. Restaurant is worth a try!

I'm glad, because with it being slightly off the 'main drag' in Middletown, we might not have seen it otherwise. We arrived towards the end of the dinner rush hour, and fortunately were seated over by where a musician was playing. It was a busy night, and we were tired and hungry from a day at the faire. As it was busy, there were sportsball games going and the musician playing, shouting was required for discussion and we had some funny misunderstandings YOUR GRAPE IS ON THE MOON? WHAT? Oh, your gravy is a little cool! :) The musician was great, playing lots of 70s and 80s hits, and he seemed to enjoy us singing along and dancing. We are, after all, rennies. We're glad he was enjoying us as much as we were enjoying his music. We got drinks and menus quickly, and our server was attentive without being pushy. After a few minutes looking over the menu, she appeared and we ordered. I got the Stampede Burger, while one of my friends got the Prime Dip sandwich (AKA French Dip), and one got chicken fingers. All came in reasonable time and were quite good, hearty food. So, why the one star off? Dessert. Could we have a brownie sundae? Out of brownies. OK, how about chocolate cake? Out of that, too. Uh...red velvet? Out. Basically everything chocolate. Sigh. Yeah, it was busy but not insane. We ended up not getting dessert, and it was disappointing. Whoever's managing food orders and prep, please do better. Also, if it's not available, it would have been great for the server to say so up front, that way she didn't have to tell us no 3 times. Parking in a private lot, plentiful. We would go again, we just will plan on dessert elsewhere.

The bar was full and most of the tables in the dining area were full. We opted to sit towards the front that has a few booths. Also, the place is a "Seat Yourself" establishment. The customer service was amazing, as both of our waitresses were the sweetest. We ordered Lemon Pepper wings, Jerk Chicken Empanadas, and Tuscan Chicken. We also had these watermelon mocktails the bartender whipped up for us that were sooooo good. Although the food took a long time to come out, it was certainly worth the wait! The wings were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Tuscan Chicken was good and well portioned also. However, the star of the show was the Jerk Chicken Empanadas! They must have marinated that chicken for at least 1-2 days because the jerk taste was so powerful. Tasted like it was made on the streets of Jamaica. The sauce that comes with it was the perfect pairing as well. The food was so good, I went back the next day with my husband so he could try. They also have DJ's on Fridays and I believe Karaoke on Thursdays. I will for sure be visiting again to try more from their menu.

The burger is cooked to order and the meat is fresh from the Dutch Market's butcher shop. Onion rings are perfect, batter fried and very juicy, taste like Vidalia onions. Some days when the Dutch market is open, they have breakfast all day and quite an extensive breakfast menu. But since I am a fan of a GOOD burger, I always order a hamburger. The restaurant has undergone many changes since the Dutch market opened almost 20 years ago. Now it's a sit-down place near the center back of the market. A chalkboard indicates specials and there is a glass display of desserts in case your gigantic half pound burger wasn't enough for you. Our zippy waitress took good care of us. We'll be back.

On one hand I want to try again for dinner but for the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. Pros: Amazing service - very attentive server(s); we had one in training/shadowing and she was just as good as our primary server, offering refills, clearing plates, overall greet banter Cocktails are fantastic - had the Minnie Ripperton and loved it - creamy yet refreshing and bright which is a tough combo to achieve Cons: Hidden entrance - after circling what looked like an abandoned building 2x we finally figured out the entrance was in the backy and down a set of stairs. I now understand the "speakeasy vibe" but the clutter in the front made the building look abandoned or under construction; not a great start to the experience for us Food service - the other couple we were dining with got their entrees about 10 minutes before ours and we were some of the first orders & diners of the day. Usually you might hold the whole table or refire some of the dishes so it all comes out at the same time. They finished theirs before we even got our to start, making it a strange eating experience Small print menu - with the low light of the speakeasy, the menu had the teeeeniest print I've ever seen making it very difficult to read the menu options. We also didn't realize that the menu changes/is seasonal (not called out on the website) so many of the items we had wanted to try were not an available option. I love a menu that changes but hope it's indicated on the website (aka: sample menu, subject to seasonal change) Hit-n-miss: Fried chicken Benedict- huge portions, amazing biscuits and perfectly poached (but unseasoned?) eggs. I don't know if the hollandaise soaked into the fried chicken or never existed at all - and that's the thing you want with a Benedict. If it existed, it never reached the biscuits because while they were good, but were completely dry Shrimp and grits - perfectly cooked, great consistency, but very under-seasoned Water - just an observation and maybe it's just the local tap water flavor but it tasted off or as off the soap hadn't been washed from the glasses Pro Tip: be aware of the automatic gratuity in some circumstances; if you don't know, check the website before your meal!
