Great trail for a fall hike. The steepest part is the downhill from the trailhead. Everything else is a series of gradual inclines and looping trails. Go left after crossing the swinging bridge and you'll come to the water treatment plant. The trail is well marked. I was able to see where I was on my iPhone map the whole time. The bridge is a great photo op spot. read more

I wish it a bit longer of a path. But very kid-friendly. Path is well marked. Lots of fun things to see and interesting parts of the path. An old mine to the right of the trail. A wobbly suspension bridge (gulp). Lots of shade! Which was welcome on a very hot day. The water below looked lovely, but I didn't want to guide my 7-year old down there and get stuck. Definitely will need a shower after this hike! The tree canopy is delightful. read more

I love visiting Nevada City in the fall. Its streets are lined with colorful trees,giving off perfect fall vibes. It's also got a wonderful hike near the downtown, the Deer Creek Tribute trail. It can be a bit tricky to find and the trails are not well signed. I visited on a rainy, quiet weekday where it was mostly locals out walking their dogs. It's possible to reach the trail by walking from town, but I was able to find a spot along Champion Mine Road, closer to the trailhead. The trail winds down to the creek and a scenic suspension bridge. There's a short loop which also several offshoots to extend your hike. I was short on time and only did about 2 miles. But what a two miles it was! The foliage was amazing and with the rain, it was quite magical. Trails aren't steep but there are some rocks and roots to be mindful of. All in all a lovely hike. I'm going to add this to my Nevada City leaf peeping adventures from now on! It's a 5 star hike but minus 1 for lack of signage. read more

I decided to try a new hike on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. We parked a little further behind Champion Road on the street. We didn't realize you can park pretty close to the beginning of the trail. It takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the suspension bridge from the beginning. There seems to be a lack of signage, which led to confusion. We realized most things loop around so it's not too big a deal going one way compared to the other. Once you get past the bridge you can go to Jordan St or Providence Mine Rd. We chose the right side, which turned out to be the longer hike that loops back around to the bridge. Be mindful on the Providence Mine Rd it can lead to private property if you keep on going down past the mine. Overall this trail took about an hour and a half. You're covered by trees pretty much the whole time, so I can see this being popular during the summer. It seems like there were a lot of fallen trees but none that impact the path. There are a couple benches along the way to relax and sit. We started around 9:50 AM and ended around 11:40 ish. I noticed a good amount of pets on the trail. It's not far from the downtown area so you can explore there afterwards. I genuinely am glad I tried a new trail and saw the suspension bridge! read more

I have had family here for longer than 40 years but embarrassingly was today years old when I first hiked this trail. My sister took us and parked off Reward Street, so we walked onto it from the back side of the trail. Even with recent rains there was enough duff and detritus to keep even the switchbacks from being too slick on this late December day. Of course the suspension bridge is the big treat. The steel cable foot bridge is impeccably maintained and has a beautiful retaining wall at the north end. The trail itself is substantial, and we didn't complete it as we were with our parents, spry but nonetheless 70 and almost 80. I can't wait to come back the next time I visit the area to hike more of the trail, which can be accessed from Nevada City by foot. No car needed! read more

Dog friendly, shaded mostly, [20lb] dog could walk on the suspension bridge with no problems it was very sturdy, she was not phased at all. Humans and dog enjoyed the hike very much, felt like nature right away quickly in the midst of the town. read more

This trail was so beautiful. There was lots of interesting things to see along the way and it was a family friendly hike that didn't require to much effort. My favorite part is the bridge, it's very high up and the photos you can get on it are amazing. It might be a little scary to go across for some dogs, so just be careful of that if you want to bring your pup. Besides that, the trail is great for dogs and kids. read more

We took a hike with my Girl Scout troop, and they loved it! The suspension bridge was their favorite part. What a great hike with the river and so much greenery. There was plenty of shade. This is not a place I would take a stroller, as we saw one toppled over down the side of the cliff. Yikes. It's rocky in some areas too. But a great hike. This 3.1-mile out-and-back trail near Nevada City, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 21 min to complete. This area is trendy for birding, hiking, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas. This trail memorializes the early contributions of native Nisenan and Chinese people to the history of this place. A suspension bridge - Nisenan Tribute Bridge, or "Anqkula Seo," spans a beautiful section of Deer Creek, connecting to the Environs Trail on the other side. This trail is a pleasant walk for families, pets, and seniors. It begins and ends in residential communities, with National Forest in between. It's a little confusing and easy to get lost with the trail branching out in different directions, and there's not really any signs to help navigate. There's some kind of water treatment facility that smells terrible if you're downwind, and you can literally taste poo in your mouth. The smell doesn't generally reach all the way down to the water, but you do have to walk right through it depending on which way your coming from but it's a great place to cool off. There's a small waterfall with rocks to climb on and it's a nice place to get in the water. The suspension bridge is cool and worth checking out. read more

Tribute Trail is a such a cute nice hike. You can see some really beautiful homes on the way and there plenty of opportunities to talk great photos. Shortly, past the water treatment plant are the two trails the lead to the suspension bridge. One trail is shorter and the other is a little longer. Along the way you'll trees covered in Ivy, tress split in two and rarely you might see a bobcat (we someone in a neighbors yard). The suspension bridge sways and is full of fun. You get a beautiful view of the steam from the bridge and I had a lot of fun running across. There trail wasn't overcrowded or empty when we went, and everybody was nice and happy. People were also walking there dogs along the trail and all of the dogs were friendly. read more

Tribute Trail, or used to be called Tribulation Trail is a wonderful hike. It can be short or long depending on your choice. It starts behind the Foundry in Nevada City. The clean and tidy trails leads to a beautiful river with huge rocks and trees. There is a suspension bridge that is fascinating to see and cross. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy nature at its best. Make the time away from stores and buying things to commune with the natural environment. Very close but so far away from town. read more
