Deer Lake State Park is one of several state parks along state road 30-A. The park has a long boardwalk to a nice stretch of beach that is relatively secluded. The area provides a nice alternative to more crowded areas in PCB and Destin. This also appears to be a great spot for fishing -- while here, I saw several people catching fish next the shoreline. If you're in the area, block out a couple of hours to spend here. It's a very relaxing spot along Florida's Gulf Coast!

Really beautiful but the pet rules are confusing. Their sign said they allow pets in certain areas just not the beach. As soon as you start walk to the path (the only path there is) a sign says no dogs. So basically we can take our dog but we can't take our dog? This was a waste of time and money since I could only snap a photo and leave because we had our dog.

Deer Lake is a small state park but definitely worth checking out. It has a long boardwalk over beautiful sandy dunes which ends at the beach. The stroll along the boardwalk itself is really pretty and the white sand almost looks like snow on the dunes.

Super beautiful and in great shape. Our kids wore themselves out running the bridge. I just Wish it were bigger.

It's peaceful. I paddle the channel that leads to the Gulf with amazing reflections on the water. I paddle the cove around the private docks. I see crab pots and an occasional gator observing me - an intruder. The first time I paddled here I pulled my board up on the sand and walked over to the Gulf, but when I came back, my board was gone. The water rose very quickly and my board was pulled out into the channel. So I swam out and got it and learned a lesson about how quickly the water level can change. It's all of this, the diversity of looks and the complexity of it, that make it my favorite place to paddle.

My family and I spent a couple hours at the beach. It is a great place to paddleboard or swim. There is a man-made reef about one or two football fields out. You can get to it by going to the yellow poles on the beach and swimming directly out. If the poles appear to be one you are going the right way, if you can see both poles then you are off course. There was a group of kayakers out there doing a tour when I was there so I swam out and joined them. It was fun but I don't recommend anyone who didn't competitively swim to do that. The waves can be big and a paddleboard or kayak would have been safer. Once you get out to the reef there is so much wildlife. Lots of fish and even sea turtles!!

It is almost time to say goodbye to Paradise, two more days and we will have to go back to reality…read more We thoroughly enjoy the park, the beach and the restaurants in the area. It is always going to be 5 star review for the Resort but this time if this review was for the Ranger I would give a ONE star because he has decided to not buy dog poop bags and some people just don't clean up after their dogs if you don't provide the basics because they are not prepared and I don't blame them because you expect to find bags like in ANY other Florida State Park to find poop bags all over. Now instead there is dog sh!t in some places that the Ranger should go and pick it up himself just because he is trying to save money to finish construction of his new office and moving resources from one budget item to another is not the solution, please poop bags are a must Mr Ranger, adhere to your budget and buy some bags so whoever is unprepared can clean up after their dog.

The trails are marked and there are several maps along the way. It would be hard to get lost. There are selfie spots along the trails too!! There are also trolleys that take you to the lake and to the beach. I would come back when in the area again for sure.
