We've been going to Deer Run for about 20 years always satisfied; however, all things must pass. Since being acquired by VetCor some years ago their vet care has slipped drastically. I'll get into this later, when I speak to a vet; however, I've called them 11 times, left messages etc. but a vet has not returned my calls. There is plenty more to say but I'd rather not discuss it until they respond or when I have to make assumptions. Needless to say, I'd stay away from them. read more

We had a little fiasco today. The new cat, who came from the rescue and was pretty traumatised when I brought her home, was having urinary problems. I figured it might be a UTI and called and got an appointment. (Note: today is a Federal holday.) Around 45 minutes before the appt I started trying to coax her into the carrier. It did not go well. Nice soft blankie, canned food, favorite treats - no way. Big stress. Cat not happy. Called and cancelled, only 15 mins before the appt. They were so nice. Made soothing sounds, I apologized, they said "don't worry". On to plan B. Cat must learn to go into carrier. Going to feed once a day in carrier, the other time at feeding station. See how long it takes for her to get accustomed to the thing. read more

I'm new to Falmouth, didn't have a Vet lined up. My outdoor cat, which had become an indoor cat for the last six months, somehow tore his dewclaw. We were treating it at home. When I went to redress it one morning, it looked terrible. I called and was given an appointment within the hour. We were given options, when it was revealed that a tumor was in the joint. They showed us amazing kindness. We chose to put the cat down. He was too old to put him through the options that were given. Our choice. They were respectful, non-judgmental, and every one there were so kind to us. We had never had to do this before to a pet. They gave us the time we needed. I'm very grateful, I found them. I was just treated like absolute crap by the lady at the front desk because they want to get out early and me calling about my dog that might have to be put down today was an inconvenience for them. All around great employees, a very nice, inviting waiting room. Everyone is friendly, and Dr. Palmer is exceptional in his field. We had blood work done on Reiley, our 8yr old Black Lab who has had back leg issues. The results came back promptly and with positive feedback. The dog is fine if you wee wondering. read more

My dog was bitten by another dog at a dog park. We brought her to Deer Run and they were wonderful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They bandaged our dog up and then had us go to the Vet Hospital for follow-on care. I really appreciate their service. They are top notch!!!! read more

Had a horrible experience with them today. Scheduled an appointment for my cat received a phone call and multiple text messages confirming an 11:30 AM appointment. Took off work brought him at the scheduled time only to be told the only record they have is of an appointment at a completely different time next week. The receptionist I spoke to on the phone was very rude and dismissive and said I was receiving messages for an appointment I must have cancelled, which I am very sure is not the case. While I recognize there may not have been much she could do to resolve the situation courtesy and respect can go a long way in these situations. Can provide copies of the messages and phone calls confirming the appointment. They clearly need to fix something in the scheduling system. read more

This is one of the best vets I've been to. They are amazing with fitting you into their scedule for urgent visits which is invalable to have if you have a pet suffering. Dr. Palmer in particular is great with listening to all your concerns and giving sound advice. The vet tech are also very gentle and kind when handling my old girl. read more

Deer Run is my local go to vet. I find the desk staff and, vet techs to be polite, appropriate and kind. The facility is always clean, it's accessible and I find the staff supportive and compassionate.. I'll share that of the vets on staff, I do have a few whom I prefer to interact with. Absolutely love this animal hospital. The ladies at the front desk are so wonderful and patient. The doctors are phenomenal and knowledgeable as well as compassionate. The vet techs are very good . My pooch is calm about them holding her. The lobby is always clean. Oh I never had to wait for an unreasonable time to see the doctor. The experience wasn't frightening to my little one ( but as a fur baby mom , it's more scary for me lol ) . All in all , this is a great veterinary hospital on every level. read more

Went today for the first time and it was not a great experience. The vet did not introduce herself when she came into the exam room. My cat was coming for a follow up on something that had initially been treated at an emergency pet hospital, and the vet basically just said, Well, since I didn't treat this initially, there's really no way for me to know if it's getting better or not. The way she acted gave me no confidence in her ability to diagnose, or that she cared about my cat at all - it was like she just wanted us out of there. We were given the phone number for a specialist, but when I called that pet hospital, I was told that the specialist no longer works there. Other staff in the office was pleasant, but the vet really didn't seem to care about my cat, what was wrong, or fixing the problem. read more

We were recently vacationing on the Cape and had an emergency with an injured gosling. We discovered a baby goose with his leg badly injured due to fishing wire embedded in it. We were able to capture the gosling, rush him to Dr. Palmer at Deer Run veterinary Clinic and get him treated. Dr. Palmer saw us immediately and gently cut the embedded wire, treated the wound with an antibiotic cream AND an antibiotic injection, and worked on the gosling for 25 minutes, all for no fee! This is unheard of now a days......He was very knowledgable and professional. We returned the gosling to Flax Pond. Watching him swim to his 3 siblings and parents was priceless...... I was visiting Cape Cod and my doxie became ill with a stomach virus. Going to a new vet is not easy especially when your dog is sick, but Dr. Palmer put us at ease. He is very knowledgeable and knew what to test for and what medicines would do the trick. She was fine the next day and we were able to have a great vacation. Note: I see the unhappy yelpers only complained about $$. I found their prices extremely affordable. read more

Terrible terrible experience with this vet. I took my cat to Deer Run Vet so Dr Albano could neuter him. I walked out with a much larger bill than quoted due to need for "flea medicine" (never saw one flea on that cat nor on any of my other animals) and vaccines that an exclusively indoor cat does NOT need. Two weeks later, I brought the cat back to this vet due to a lump on his back leg where he was given a rabies vaccine. Dr Albano told me that the cat may have a particularly lethal cancer related to the rabies vaccine. When I asked why an indoor cat had been given the vaccine, he said that it was state law and "in case a rabid bat comes into your attic and bites your cat". He took a needle and tried to get fluid out so he could look at any cells under the microscope. He said he would call the next day with the results. The vet then gave me antibiotic drops while telling me that the antibiotics were "not likely to help". I was charged over 100.00 dollars for the exam, the "cytology" and the unnecessary antibiotics. In addition, Dr Albano told me to bring the cat in 4 days later for an extensive surgery that would cost $400-500 to remove the lump from his thigh. I was never called back regarding the "cytology". I decided to get a second opinion on the lump because even I could tell that the lump was just under the skin and not attached to any muscle below it. In the meantime, the lump resolved on its own without medication or surgery. So....RUN FROM DEER RUN if you want to avoid unnecessary vaccines, needless prescriptions for antibiotics, avoidable significant surgeries (seriously a 500.00 surgery for a lump just under the skin??!!) and outrageous prices. I feel strongly that my cat would have been much better treated in a different vets hands. read more

This place deserves 0 stars and should be shut down! I asked for no vaccines with adjuvants in them and the technician didn't know what those were. They thought my car was under quarantine, she wasn't. I requested blood work during last visit and found out that the Dr didn't do it not because it wasn't needed but because he didn't want to pay the lab fee. The receptionist is ignorant and extremely uneducated. She also charged a different amount to my card than asked, and when I asked her why she did that she replied "I figured id do a different amount". I also had to show her how to use the machine. The receptionist also told a client she didn't need an exam for a rabies vaccine which is illegal. Dr had no idea how old, what medications or why my cat was there for the visit. I was charged double for food. When I called to speak to manager, I ended up speaking to the owner who was actually the Dr for the visit. He didn't see anything wrong with declining blood work due to not wanting to pay a small lab fee, said I couldn't expect him to put himself on the line for the lab bill. I will never go there and really hope they shut down. Who knows how many sick animals are out there because of a lab fee! read more

Lifetime pet owner and this is the worst place ive ever been to. The employees are nice but they either don't know what theyre doing or theyre trying to rip me off. First they failed to get rid of the fleas that my dog became infested with after our first visit there. I brought her back after i realized the flea meds given to her werent working so they gave her a different brand. I expected them to give my dog the second meds for free seeing as the first round did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help her, but no they charged me once again (its like bringing your car to a mechanic, the MECHANIC/DOCTOR tells you whats wrong with your CAR/CAT and tells you what you need to pay for to fix it but if the problem is still there the MECHANIC gives you a refund on the original work he did because IT DIDNT HELP AT ALL. You'd think a Veterinary practice would have better ethical policies than a Mechanic). Then I brought her back to treat the worms that showed up as a result of the fleas. The dewormer and both rounds of flea medication had little to no affect on the parasites tormenting my baby. Decided to take things into my own hands and went to walmart where I bought the leading brand of medication (Frontline) that the vet should have been using in the first place. Fleas and worms went away within a week. Just so everyone gets a clear picture, they charged me over $200 for treatments that HAD NO AFFECT AT ALL and it only cost me $50 to completely rid my dog of fleas and worms all by myself!!! Would never have gone back there if my friends dog (who was visiting for the week) hadnt needed to be looked at immediately for a problem with his eye. They did a couple simple tests, gave us eye drops, and wrote up $100 bill just to end up saying that it "might work".It is simple for me to see now that they are pretending to cure my pets so they can charge me multiple times for something anyone can do at home. They think I'm some young dumb kid that they can take advantage of. I highly recommend everyone to find a different vet, even if its farther from your home. NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! read more
