This place is a total scam. Do not go here if you're paying cash. As soon as they know your insurance doesn't pay they only give you a half adjustment to keep you coming back day after day. Also the doctor refers to his women patients as "man" all fine and dandy if you're smoking a joint in the 60's on a beach. Not so great in a doctor setting. His staff is rude, and he sits you in a room while he talks your ear off for 20 minutes while you sit in pain. When first came to the United States in 1969 I had never even heard of a chiropractor. However, my new father in law's best friend was one and when he visited everyone got an adjustment whether they needed it or not. At the time I was an athlete in tip top shape and thought it was silly but submitted and, by golly, I did feel better afterwards. In the years since found that when it comes to back problems there is not much a medical doctor can do for you but a doctor of chiropractic can usually fix or at least alleviate them. The surprising thing about this practice is that you can always get an appointment on short notice or just walk in. That is usually not a good sign (if they are so good why are they not busier) but in this case you should not let that daunt you. When we moved Antioch I was very slow about finding a chiropractor. I just find picking a medical provider to be a daunting task. If they were all good, malpractice lawyers would not exist. These days, however, we have Yelp so I opened the list of chiropractors covered by my insurance in one window and Yelp in another and in the end it came down to Dr. Roberts and Dr. Harris. It was only then that I noticed that they had the same address and phone number: Deer Valley Chiropractic. A plus was that they are within walking distance. So, I made an appointment, rode my bike down (oddly, it was painful for me to walk but a bicycle was no problem) and over the next few weeks my back which I had let get out of whack until I could not take it any more was hale. The real test came when my Judit threw her back out. She had never been to a chiropractor and, in spite of what they had done for me, thought of the practice as quackery. She went to her medical doctor but, of course, he could do nothing for her except provide pain killer and prescribe rest. I was reluctant to push her towards chiropractors but when someone you love is in pain it is painful to you too and push her (gently) I did. With great misgivings she made an appointment, almost backed out at the last minute but kept it. I had to be with her the whole time. I had given Dr. Harris a heads up and he was terrific. She was in bad enough shape that it took a few weeks before she was pain free, but she did get there. Now she is a believer and pays a visit at the first sign of a problem. Judit has asked me whether I prefer Dr. Harris or Dr. Roberts and I had to say that I do not have a preference. They are both excellent chiropractors. She does have a preference (and I am not saying which) but it is not a strong enough preference for her to request one over the other. If I have a nit to pick it has to do with being made to watch a video on the benefits of Chiropractic on my first visit. For Judit, making her first visit to a chiropractor I could see it but I had been going to chiropractors since these guys were in diapers if not before. That is preaching to the converted. read more

i have been going to Deer Valley Chiropractic, and to Dr. Roberts, specifically, for over 2 years. at first, it was to treat an injury from a car accident. but after that was completed, i continued treatment because it helped my regular aches and pains without having to resort to prescription or over the counter medications. i can tell when i haven't been in for treatment for a while, and then get myself in "ASAP", which the office is always willing to accommodate. i tell everyone who will listen that they should try chiropractic (and Dr. Roberts, specifically) and see for themselves, the difference it can make. i do actually look forward to my adjustments. thank you, Dr. Roberts and staff. you all rock!! read more

This is specifically for Vern the Massage Therapist. I'm a physical therapist so I'm a pretty hard judge on any massage. Vern was great! He was very attentive to my specific complaint, and because I am 32 weeks pregnant he was very comfortable and knowledgeable about prenatal massage. It's very hard to find a place that will do a deep tissue massage on a woman in their 3rd trimester, and Vern was super helpful! He was on time and offers a 30 minute massage for $35 which is great for someone who can't tolerate a lot or has just a small area they need worked on. Highly recommend! read more
