Wood burning stove in living room a huge plus. Staff was courteous, professional and very helpful. Nestled at the end of a private road, this cabin does not disappoint. A very special place dripping with small town Vermont countryside charm. Comfortably slept 8 (4 couples). Beds are very high quality and very comfortable. It snowed multiple days we were there and the road was impeccably maintained with salt and sand. A little slice of heaven. The charm and coziness of this cabin is simply amazing. Smuggler's Notch right down the road. The small town of Jeffersonville has many lovely restaurants. Hanley's grocery store down the road has all the essentials. One of the best family trips we have ever experienced. A true gem. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The free breakfasts were delicious and the owners were great. I have to say..... the bed was VERY comfortable!! I rarely am comfortable in beds when I travel, but I just melted into this bed. The cons..... our room was tiny! You could barely walk around the bed, and there was very little room for your 'stuff'. You better like the person you're rooming with because you're basically on top of each other... also, there was a loud noise coming from below the room during the nights... I think it was coming from the restaurant. Luckily, it didn't last too long though. The blonde girl who cleans the rooms (don't know if she's related or just staff) was rude to us about needing supplies for the room. We also heard her screaming in some sort of fight with someone in one of the rooms one afternoon. Who wants to hear that when you're spending money to stay somewhere??? She had a lousy attitude.... Most of our stay was good, but we were very claustrophobic in our room. If that's not an issue for you, it's a great little place.

The room furnishings are very basic, but the beds and linens are wonderfully comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to have a large two room suite with two bathrooms. The grounds are pretty and the pool and sauna inviting. The location is ideal. Coffee is available in-room, a nice coffee machine is available adjacent to the lobby, and the Inn is located steps from a delicious little breakfast cafe, right downtown. We enjoyed walking around town and shopping. I'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

The fact that the story was true and that this famous singing family settled in Stowe, VT because it reminded them of their homeland, well, it's been a long-time dream of mine to visit the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe and feel the connection in person. And so I did... in July 2025, some SIXTY years after seeing the Sound of Music. We actually didn't stay here, which seems kind of odd considering what a fan I am. Now that I know how much there is to do in Stowe... and at the lodge itself, perhaps if we come back with plans to stay longer, I would stay here. The Von Trapp Family Lodge has so much to offer a person... whether one stays here or not. These are some of the activities: 1. Hiking 2. Mountain biking 3. Skiing / Cross-country skiing 4. So we just took turns skiing / staying home when she wasn't up for it. Overall though it was a great vacation and we'll definitely come back (and book ski school ahead so we could enjoy more). I also appreciated how COVID-cautious they were, and even on school vacation week they were sold out but nothing was packed so we felt comfortable dining indoors, which tells me they didn't try to oversell just to make a buck and squish everyone in like sardines. Very much appreciated. I also appreciate that they had gluten free pizza and buns. The simple act of having gluten-free buns meant I got to dine out semi-normal with my family which was priceless. I had a burger, a breakfast sandwich, and they even made me a grilled cheese with tomato soup using the bun. It was awesome to enjoy a meal!

Maybe for skiing location, but that's about it…read more The rooms are super old and falling apart (we had a 3 bedroom unit on Slopeside) while the layout was great, everything was old and in a major need of an upgrade. Showers, kitchen, decor, all really old and dingy. The pool is also way overdue for a makeover and far from most units so you need drive or walk a while, for us anyways. Fun zone, also old and dingy. Has incredibly dangerous railings on the second floor. It's an accident waiting to happen. One kid looks over too hard and will fall. I was a wreck next to it. Arcade needs a revamp and the staff barely pay attention to anyone there. It's a free for all. Okay so the main reason we came, to ski. Skiing was fine, tubing was fine too but the line gets long and you have to stop yourself or you're going through the nets. My biggest issue tho was with the lessons. We paid $2700 for 2 days of private lessons for 3 hours each day. I was personally told from 2 different people I spoke to on the phone our 4 kids would have 2 instructors. I was even told not to book my daughter alone for extra help because the two instructors would manage it. This made perfect sense to me and for the cost I was happy this is how it would go. Well, we arrived on day 1 and only 1 instructor (Beztie, she was nice and good with the kids, this wasn't her fault). I said something to her - the next day the manager spoke to me for about 1 min prior to the lesson and said she understands her team told me this, and a second coach would come for the last 2 hours. He did and worked with the kids. BUT this doesn't make up for the other 4 hours we paid top dollar for and didn't have both coaches. I wrote an email to the manager and still have not heard back. We should be refunded a portion of those 4 hours. I hope management returns my email as this is incredibly disappointing. $2700 on top of the thousands of dollars we paid just to be there is ridiculous for what we were provided. Because of this experience, the old dingy rooms and facility areas, we wouldn't return.

The owners were so kind and welcoming everybody that works there was very nice and breakfast was the best part of the day. The owner breaks up homemade muffins for breakfast every day, and there are plenty full options, such as scrambled eggs and sausage, yogurt, and granola. And a pack it up so well for you so you can totally eat it on your way up to the mountain. The absolute peak of this entire trip was the hot tub is at the northern lights lodge. Surprisingly it was rarely occupied we barely had to wait except for one time we may be waited 20 minutes for a group to leave because it's a pretty small hot tub and we were four people trying to go together The hot tub is also open from 8 AM to 10 PM great for a pre-post ski session. There is also a sauna and indoor pool and an outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was not open for the winter obviously. The rooms were spacious and cozy. Definitely looking forward to make a trip back. Oh, and the ski shuttle to Stowe resort is across the street

This is a get away, let's go back in time when things mattered not just "Cash or Charge". Rooms are very very clean, very comfortable, heat works great and it's pretty cold and windy outside. Yea, I can dig this place. Nice, old school, charm. I will stay here more often. Breakfast and indoor pool available, I'm just here to ski. We were greeted by Erich and Caroline at the front and right then we knew we made a great choice. They are so warming and welcoming into their abode. This is like showing up to a relatives house and feeling right at home! We had this amazing large room and attached bathroom. A great big comfortable bed and an awesome view of the snowy mountains in front of our room. We were not disturbed in our rooms, it was so quiet we barely knew there was other visitors with us. Caroline and Erich have such a friendly, warming, giving personality. They offered so much to us. They gave us tips for local places around town and even offered to help with whatever we needed! All around it was probably the best stay I have had somewhere away from home in a while and For sure will book another stay!

Her southern hospitality shines through and she is as gracious and warm as can be. It was the perfect place to stay while I was attending a weekend wedding. I treated myself to a massage and dinner in town the night I arrived. This is a peaceful, beautiful, luxurious refuge if you want to sleep like a queen (or king) and decompress. It was a joy to meet Caroline, Eric & their lovely daughters. My only regret is I couldn't stay for the gourmet breakfast. The smell of homemade muffins made me drool as I headed out the door.
