The manager, an older man possibly named bill but I don't recall his name, was standing with a younger man(the cashier). The manager looked completely out of it and couldn't be bothered. When it came to process the return the cashier didn't know how to do the return, he proceeded to turn to the manager and ask for help. The manager looked at me and said "you'll have to come back another day when someone who is working knows how to do this" This man wasn't a young new manager, he's been working there for a while. This wouldn't have been a problem but I live over an hour and a half away and can't just come back. The manager just wanted to go home and hurried us out the door. A man shows up after they shut the doors behind us and the manger perks up and tells the man they will stay open as long as that customer needed. Clearly two grown women aren't better than a grown man.

It also has the little hooks, straps, stickums and other odd little things that can be so frustrating and difficult to find. Harrison and Mike were wonderful from beginning to end. Harrison was patient and took his time making sure we had everything we needed, understood the kayak and launch, and had a general idea of the kind of experience we wanted. The launch itself was incredibly easy--much easier than several other kayak launches I've used--and before long, we were off with six glorious hours ahead of us. The tandem kayak was perfect for two friends looking for a little adventure, a little workout, and a LOT of conversation and catching up! It felt stable and comfortable and would be a great choice for beginner-to-intermediate paddlers. And what a beautiful route! We paddled through downtown Westerly and beyond, then eventually turned around and made our way past the Westerly Yacht Club, taking some time to meander through the estuary. Listening to the birds, exploring the little waterways, and enjoying the quiet and serenity was absolutely lovely. Six hours gave us enough time that we never felt rushed--we could simply explore and enjoy the day. When we returned, Mike greeted us with a huge smile and cheerful conversation while we returned the kayak to Harrison. And, of course, we had to spend some time with Ruby, the beautiful and lovable black Lab who appears to be the true overseer of operations at Watch Hill Outfitters. This is a friendly, local place with real personality--not just kayak rentals. They also have an enormous assortment of fishing equipment and accessories. Harrison and Mike made the whole experience easy, welcoming, and fun. Watch Hill Outfitters is a definite Westerly gem and absolutely worth the trip. We will be back!

It was reasonably priced imho, very soft and moisture wicking. Brilliant. I should probably get myself one too. BTW, the company no longer offers bags. None. So bring a reusable bag if you plan to shop here. It's just another way to reduce waste and be a good steward. Some of the prices can be high, but not everything. They sell Patagonia which is an expensive brand, as well as other, more moderately priced items. You just have to know what you want and what you are willing to pay. If you check out the bulletin board upstairs, they offer guided excursions that look really fun. I check out their selection of hiking poles as I am looking to buy some. Everything from really reasonable basic models to foldable, light weight pricey models. So you have options. They have pet items. Personal care items. Clothes and shoes are upstairs. So many types of water bottles. Camping items for both the thru-hiker and the car-camper. Check them out. They are a good resource and the staff are friendly and happy to assist.

For the past 12 years I had services my 90hp Yamaha engine at Boats Inc and they were a very…read moretrusted service destination. This year, dealing with the service department became a $1588 nightmare when having to change gas filters. During our first trip of the year our engine (having used Boats Inc, to change oils and winterize the engine) stalled and we had to be towed back to shore. It looked like there was some problem with our gas supply to the engine (most likely clogged gas filters). We made a service appointment on a Monday morning and dropped off the boat, with an understanding that they would diagnose the problem by Tuesday and provide an update. Tuesday, and Wednesday went by without hearing anything. On Thursday afternoon I eventually called back to inquire what was going on. The explanation I received was that the gas filters were indeed clogged and the technician had replaced 2 of the filters. They needed a 3rd one that was not in stock and had been ordered. I was then told that they would provide me with an update. I was not given an estimate for the cost either. On Friday I had to call again and I was told that they had replaced the filters, but the gas tank had some micro openings and that they would not be able to guarantee their work, if I did not replace the tank. They proposed to look up the cost a replacement and let me know. Again, I did not hear back from them. Finally, on Saturday I called them to inquire what was going on, only to hear that they had not found anything. At that point I asked to pick up my boat, only to be told that the gas tank hose was not connected to the engine anymore and that the technician was out. I got frustrated and asked them to reconnect the hose and that I would go by to pick up the boat. when I got there, I was told that I could just put some silicone around the gasket and that could prevent any future issues. I then received an invoice for $1588 that indicated that they had put in 8 hrs of work !!!! on the engine (the price include a 2 hr labor discount)... When checking online the suggested repair price was closer to $ 400- 500 indicating only a couple of hour of work for my particular engine and problem. The whole interaction and charge has completely evaporated any speck of trust that I have for their service at this point.
