Was possibly the most frustrating online experience I've ever had. I buy a decent amount from Defender and for some reason the website wouldn't work this time. Got frequent timeout errors, the cart would not allow me to go to checkout, and unneeded items added to cart were not able to be removed. I had to start over at least 6 times. I really had to have these items so I was forced to persevere however it was a really bad experience. Somebody in IT needs to pretend that they're a customer somewhere other than company headquarters and try to use the site. They'll quickly run into frustrations and things that don't work but should be simple. read more

As a licensed captain and operator of a Cape Cod sailing charter, I have long relied on Defender for the majority of my maritime needs and have been satisfied with the overall quality of my purchases and, in the rare event I need to return something or make a warranty claim, Defender has always stood behind their products. The reason for only three stars is related to their shipping practices. I usually have my goods shipped via UPS, as their store is only 150 miles or so from me. Lately, my orders have taken over three days just to be handed off to UPS, resulting in orders taking as long as a week to get from Connecticut to Cape Cod. I'm very hopeful that Defender's shipping department will take note of this issue and remedy it without delay. read more

Ordered a part 7/24 now 8/1. part was shipped USPS which should read just POS for us mail. No part delivered and tracking showed part heading back north. This is not their issue it's the USPS. I called and cancelled my order, but they won't refund my money until they get the part back! Tracking shows the part not delivered so should get refund now. Won't use them again. read more

For the majority of boating needs, Defender continues to deliver good value along with reasonable shipping times. Price of the items are about the best of any retailer. 2 caveats however. First, for performance sailboat speciality items, Defender may not always have that hardware so one does have to shop on other sites occasionally. Second, and more importantly, shipping times have grown longer. This is probably more reflective on the capacity of USPS and UPS rather than Defender but something to now be aware of so one has to plan in advance so a project is not held up. read more

For example, today I was repeated asked to verify I was a human while simply trying to shop their site. Then my shopping cart would not show everything I had added to it. Always appreciated having Defender Marine as a supplier. I've only been purchasing from them for 3 years but they've always been great. But now, I can't even access their website. Doesn't matter what computer I use, it says I've been blocked. As another reviewer said, I understand that things can happen temporarily. But this has been going on for a while. When I finally got through to them over the phone, the customer service rep asked me to hold on while she got some info from me.
