Bear Creek Firearms I would not refer this location to my worst enemy. The owner (I presume he is the owner: grey beard, tall and soft around the middle), was insulting and condescending, apparently in-tune only with the sound of his own voice. I took a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 to the shop to have some mechanical issues addressed. I am NOT an armorer or gunsmith (as this bearded a-hole was repetitively quick to point out); however a 22 year career in the Army has acclimated me (intimately) with the nomenclature of a multitude of weapons. Additionally, after dissembling, cleaning and reassembling weapons for decades you could say I am adept at the anatomy of most popular military and civilian weapons. Regardless, the owner made it apparent immediately (as I attempted to explain the malfunction I was experiencing), he clearly understood every word I was saying but incessantly interrupted to correct my verbiage in an attempt to force-feed me his personal lingo. In an effort to diffuse this gent's general distain for the sound of any voice other than his own, I casually mentioned I was career military with the 82nd Airborne . . . to which he responded, "all that means is you know how to jump out of airplanes." He was serious. I also mentioned a fellow retiree I served with attended a Gun Smithing school in Colorado, which he immediately disparaged. Strike 2. I had to make a decision; leave the firearm with this arrogant blowfish or go to the trouble of clearing the weapon of its optics and flashlight before sending back to Smith & Wesson for proper care. For the sake of expediency I left the weapon with the self absorbed, bearded wonder. Once home, I began to read Google reviews of Bear Creek Firearms. Seems many others have similar experiences with the same gent. I woke today and was there to retrieve my gun and was pleasantly greeted by a younger gentleman with an awareness for customer service. I highly recommend any other gun shop than Bear Creek Firearms. I would pay twice the costs (which are very ambiguous at Bear Creek Firearms), than suffer the disrespect and pompous attitude of Mr. Greybeard. The gun is going back to Smith & Wesson and Bear Creek Firearms will forever be in the rear-view-mirror. read more

Fired my friend's Bear Creek Firearms at the shooting range. They were outstanding. I'm now buying my own. I don't care if the owner is rough around the edges as long as the product is outstanding. I was reading reviews by Liz B., and was surprised to see a review for BCF. I've been in this shop, once, quite a while back. As Yelp opened the page, I was surprised to see something else (9/17/18), a banner that reads, "This business is being monitored by Yelp's Support team for content related to media reports." "What's up with that?", I thought. Oh, I see, a flash-mob of Pokemon (Go?) hunters descended on this private parking lot and freaked somebody out. This resulted in an onslaught of negative reviews. Tisk, tisk. So, my experience: A few months ago, maybe longer, I needed some info on guns. Although I have a few guns, recently inherited, I don't really consider myself a gun owner. I was curious on options, and as I was walking by, stopped in on a whim. I'm not really a "gun person", so it's odd to walk into a store and see that everyone is "packing heat." But then I think, "Hey, it's a gun store, what did I expect, ballons?" So I explained what's up and got several very helpful answers. Even an offer to take a look at the guns and determine the value (one was my great grandfather's). So, on this experience, I'll go "A-OK" (3 stars). I never did go back. But seeing all these low reviews just made me want to chime in and say my experience was very different, but I wasn't showing up in a mob either. I suspect if you are here to do legitimate business, you will be OK with the shop. If you are looking for Pokemons, well you might want to skip this one, even if it is a rare one. You have been warned. ;-) Bottom line: Struck me as an OK shop with helpful staff. Oh, I don't think it was hammer guy that helped me, but it was a while ago. PS. I wonder if anyone is giving Niantic grief about the places people get sent to? I recall something about police and fire stations being removed? I have been in this place many times over the last few years and Scott is always very helpful. He seemingly can be a bit gruff at times but ALWAYS in a friendly way, and he always accepts my equally friendly and sometimes sarcastic rebuttals to his matter-of-fact demeanor. He has personally repaired several antique and vintage firearms for me and has always answered my sometimes-limited knowledge and frivolous questions without giving me any personal heartburn for my own ignorance. I would like an option to award a fraction of a star for BCA's level of customer service. I ordered an in-stock AR 15 on November 24th 2022. Here I am January 9th still waiting on a refund from BCA. Yes, they received the merchandise on December 9th at 2:45pm signed by a staff member. How do I know, I got on online and verified. Why would BCA say they don't have the merchandize? I don't know. All I know is I have repeatedly attempted to contact BCA via phone and e-mail. And I get no response except an e-mail stating they have received my e-mail and will get back to me, with in 14 business days. They have not gotten back to me, they have not confirmed receipt of merchandize, AND they have not refunded my monies. Terrible customer service BCA. I will make sure anyone who talks about getting a weapon of any sort goes anywhere except BCA. I'm 54 I have gotten bad customer service my life, but your suspicious & criminal disregard for the customers that trust in you and bought with good faith from you BCA are being extorted. I have no merchandize and no refund. And I continue to see terrible reviews regarding BCA. If you can't do the JOB don't commit to us who want a respectful exchange between merchant and customer. What a joke. Only positive thing I can say is that the Asian guy is very helpful and enthusiastic. However while checking out a handgun I mentioned I was just looking it over because I'm under 21 (currently 20) and can't purchase it. He says it's no issue and that I can look at it and get a feel for it even if I couldn't buy it. Okay, so he's a pretty cool guy, but I casually mentioned I get my handguns from private sale anyways, to which he replies "Oh I didn't hear that. That's not legal." Which is funny because my guy over at USLawShield and my CHL instructor told me otherwise. And they quoted me for 80 dollars a hole for a drill and tap on my Remington 870, which is ridiculously high. Called the guys over at White's Gun Co. and they told me they knew a guy who could get the entire job done for a fraction of that cost. Are they knowledgeable? Maybe. Will they screw you over if they think you're not? Probably. As awful as it sounds I hope this place goes under. It's a stain on the gun community. Only reason I'm giving two stars is because Asian guy was pretty awesome. Hope you find a better place to work man but please do your homework. People are already misinformed enough about guns. read more

This shop is a scam. I went in to buy buckshot for my weekend hunting trip and I purchased 10rds of Sterling buckshot for 25.00. After getting home I read the receipt and I was charged for Black aces tactical Slug Ammo. I went in the next day to talk with the owner and he said that was the price. I had done my research beforehand and had found the exact Ammo online and in stock at multiple places for .89c a shot. Instead of $2.50 a shot. I asked him if he could honor that deal or at least find me his price on it since there was a mixup. He insisted I was wrong and $25 a box was the price and challenged me to find it online, because I can't (he says). I left and pulled out my phone and ordered 14 boxes shipped to my house for $122.86 . I have lost all respect for this shop and the owner. read more

Just found this store a few weeks ago. Seemed like a nice place with knowledgeable people running it. Bought a few low-end items over a few visits. I asked about a preowned item that was missing all it's accessories and was quoted $500. After thinking about it a few days, I returned today to buy the item and spoke to a different (younger) person. This person quoted $800!!! I explained that I was already told $500 and that a new although discontinued version was only $650. The employee got a little lippy and said good luck finding one. I went in there to order and pay cash in advance for a firearm from the stores website. We all know they make 10% off the top with cash sales because of no plastic commission involved. Right off the bat I was told the prices were not correct and there would be a $50.00 transfer fee because the firearm was no being purchased from in store stock. I go in there wanting to possibly purchase something from the shop. This gun shop has the worse hand gun inventory of any gun shop I have ever been in in my life. I have been in this shop many times over the past fifteen years or better and it hasn't changed on bit. Always way over priced and not very helpful toward the customers needs. When you first walk in you get the feeling of the warmth of a home grown neighborhood oriented shop. After five minutes talking to the grey bearded attendant, possibly owner, you are disappointed and ready to leave. I really want to do business here because of the local independent part of the community type business. But the dog is more friendly than the attendant. I don't know if it was the owner or what but he was a Caucasian bald male that was here at the time I walked in and greeted him he asked how can I help you I stayed to him that I was there to see if he had any 9mm ammunition he stated that he had some but it was on reserve and wasn't available for purchase so I said ok I'll just take a look at the guns he hovered over me not saying anything making me feel very uncomfortable so I asked about the chl classes and left. I left feeling very uncomfortable about the situation so I went to my friends house who initially told me about bear creek firearms (I'm just going to add in my friend is Caucasian as well) he couldn't believe they said they didn't have any ammo so he tells me let me call them and see so he calls bear creek firearms and puts it on speaker he ask about the 9mm ammo and the person who answers the phone says yes we have 9mm ammo 124 grain $40 for 50 rounds. It was at this point I realized I was discriminated against so I right this review to warn others that look like me(African American) to beware it's a possibility you might be discriminated against if you look like "you don't belong in the area" read more

I'd seen this store many times in passing. I finally decided to stop in today while I had the chance. I walked in and I had to address them with a "Good morning!" before they would acknowledge me. They looked at me like I had just raped their cat. I looked around for a bit (no one said a single word to me, and their retail prices for in-stock firearms were WAY high). I finally decided to leave and told them to have a good day on my way out before anyone in the store would say anything to me. I hope that their gunsmithing services and firearms classes are worth a darn, or else I doubt they will stay in business for long. The customer service for this store is non-existent, that's for sure. Their FFL transfer charges are high, but might be worth it for some people close by for convenience. I'm just one person, but I don't imagine I will ever do any business with this company. I certainly won't recommend any of my friends or family to do business with them. If you do business with them, I truly hope that your experience is at least twice as good as mine. Even then, you may not return. It's a shame that Keller doesn't have more options as far as retail firearms, transfers, and firearms courses. read more

In most small firearms shops, you get good conversation and real customer service, especially as retired Military and Law Enforcement. Had trouble with our reloader. We called him and he tried to give us advise on the phone (which is why we gave 2 stars). Husband then told him he'd be happy to bring it to him. (He apparently does repairs so this sounded fine). The owner said yes bring it. So off husband goes loading the heavy equipment up there and when he got there the owner said "I'm not helping you. Don't want the liability blues you'll be up here every week wanting help!" There was a cop in there (husbands a medic. Not scared of cops. Nothing illegal here) then the owner says "not trying to be a dick" quote. Nice. Ok so we've purchased guns and used him before but never again. Simply a waste of time and rude. read more

Afraid to shoot either gun he repaired--"You're an (expletive)!" So says the owner, to me, in his store. "I was going to discount the bill, but now I'm not!" -- He deep-cleaned a WWII family heirloom pistol without permission, then couldn't get the slide off to show me. He removed a stuck shell casing from my rifle, but when I asked to see the ejection in action, both he and the gun struggled. -- I paid, but not for services rendered. I paid, in full, to leave and never come back. For that privilege I would have gladly paid double. read more

Did some searching for local gun shop that do gunsmithing work and Bear Creek firearms came up read reviews and was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews. I made a phone call to shop talked to Scott ask him servile question on adding a break and having my barrel threaded on my 300 win mag. Scott answer everything I asked and made servile recommendation on quality of breaks and making gun look as it was manufactured that way witch was a plus. After his awesome customer service toward me on phone I said ill be in to Talk. I went in on my lunch break was meet at door when enter with good morning how can I help from both ends of room, I'm sorry I cant remember the other Guys name, but was very helpful while I waiting fro Scott to help with purchase of break and having barrel threaded. He showed me breaks and the way it would look with stainless barrel that was on gun. I picked what I wanted, did paper work. I then browsed guns for sale in glass case found really good prices on pistols. I then purchased a new 9mm before I left store and that was quick and painless. Bear Creek Firearms are top notch guys, Don't always believe what you read in reviews go in and find out for you self. I will defiantly be back to do business with . Thanks again Scott. I have not bought a gun from this place. But I have had two guns I bought online and sent there for the paper work. They called me when it arrived, and when I was in the store. I asked questions, they answered with honest options. These guys know guns and they love to just sit back and talk to the customers.
