I love this place so much I just keep coming back whenever we have a day off. The ownership changed a year and a half ago, so they are still building their Missouri wines. They have some great West coast options to balance things out. The farmer's board could be shared between 2 people as a meal and is so delightful with a variety of local cheeses, meats, fresh warm bread, and house made mustard and smoked nuts. We went on a Saturday right when they opened. It wasn't too busy . My server Max did a great job. Our food was delicious and it came very fast . We had the turkey club with slaw and a hamburger, and also an appetizer of Buffalo chicken dip. The wine was good also. Lovely atmosphere! read more

Loved my afternoon at Defiance! This was my first time at this winery and I was definitely impressed. It is much smaller and more quaint than some of the neighboring wineries - much nicer for an afternoon with parents rather than my rowdy friends. It is seat yourself on the patio and we came out on a particularly warm day so I figured we would be hot for a while. But our waitress followed us to the patio with iced waters and menus. I will only recommend that you do not wear thin very high heals as they may get stuck between the slabs as you are on the covered outside deck. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! You need to stop here if you're looking for a winery in the Missouri wine county. We did 7 different wine stops in this area and this was by far our favorite one. The wine was amazing and tasted very good. The staff went over and beyond for us. We came in right before closing time and they helped us well past when they closed. All of the employees we met were super sweet and didn't mind us being there past time! The scenery was beyond gorgeous and so nice to just sit outside and enjoy the wine. Showed up on a Saturday, and the place was packed which is to be expected of a weekend. Unfortunately, not only was it difficult to find a table to get service, but the seats were all super close to each other and social-distancing was clearly not a concern. After we found a table, it became obvious that they were pretty short-staffed as it took a long time for our waiter to finally come to our table. I felt bad for her as she was very busy and was sprinting around to try and keep up. I had their cabernet sauvignon, and I thought it was "ok" at best. Fairly one-dimensional flavor that disappears quickly. We also got the Farmers Board, and I liked a few of the meats and cheese, but I wish there was more cheese variety seeing as I paid $25 for the board and only got 2 types of cheese. The views and aesthetics are not particularly impressive either. If you're looking for large lush vineyards with incredible views and a romantic setting for a date...I would suggest you look at the the other vineyards in Augusta that are not too far away. read more

This is our "go-to" date spot!! We love Defiance Ridge! Wine tasting is fun and reasonably priced. The indoor seating areas are quaint with a large event space that can be reserved. Lots of outdoor seating areas that are shaded or open air in a park-like atmosphere. Weekdays are great, weekends are busy but have free music entertainment. We love their peach-mango sparkling wine among others. The food is delicious and service is timely. There's a small indoor gift shop with great gift options and winery memorabilia. We hosted our parents' 50th anniversary at Defiance Ridge and I could not recommend this venue more highly. The event coordinator, Michelle, was super responsive, knowledgeable and accommodating throughout the planning process. With her help the party went perfectly and my parents and guests were all extremely happy. The venue itself is beautiful and ideal for a large party. The food was delicious- and there was plenty of it! Service throughout the party was fantastic. Beth was our point person and she did an amazing job, always anticipating our needs and keeping an eye on everything. I would NOT recommend using them as a wedding venue due to the amount of stress I felt while trying to communicate with their team, not abiding by what was promised regarding the wedding, complete lack of customer service or care and lack of organization. After discussing all the issues that occurred before the wedding and the day of the wedding with the owner, we were met with excuses and a disrespectful response. My suggestion to them would to stick to non cooking options, lessen the menu. Crackers, cheese, meat plates, fruit. We hosted my mother-in-law's 70th birthday party at Defiance Ridge today and it was SUCH a perfect experience. Planning the event was so easy with the help of Michelle, who was always available and accommodating. Bonnie, our server, was wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed (even things I didn't think about)! The food tray (craft sandwiches) was delicious -- pulled pork, portobello mushroom, and (my fave) chicken salad. I will definitely return here for a lovely afternoon of wining and dining and would recommend it for events. Prices are reasonable and I was very pleased that I could rent a perfect space, provide food and drinks for my guests, and have a whole afternoon of "partying" for less than $200. Fabulous new spot! Was there for the first time last weekend and wow! From the gorgeous view to the five star staff, my experience was pristine. I have just begun to venture into Missouri wines, and let me tell you their new Heath's Dry Vignoles is one of the best wines I've ever tasted! Not to mention the cute little brunette bartender with the Indian earrings was just a doll! You could tell she loves where she works and was more than happy to tell me all about the winery from the swan Heath to all your new wines to the history behind Defiance Ridge, and her love for dogs lol! Also, the Farmer's Board is by far one of the flippin best charcuterie platters I've ever had! This is definitely my new go to spot. The cherry on top ... they are dog friendly! Been coming here for several years; primarily because of the excellent menu. One of the several items I like is the in-house smoked brisket which up until today was some of the best I've had. Unfortunately, today's brisket was awful. I ate about a third of sandwich when the waitress came by to see how things were. I politely mentioned the brisket wasn't up to usual standards and was actually quite dry and tough. All she offered was "I'll tell the cook". My wife finished her lunch, and we finished our wine. During this time, no one came back to apologize for my meal; let alone offer to get something else or comp my meal. Pretty disappointed considering how often we recommend this place to friends. Their wines are actually good and have won multiple awards. They have Oregon and California wines for people who don't love Missouri wine. They also have beer!
