It's a very cool experience walking into Del Buono's Bakery with the bread-making machine being the main focal point of the room. Tons of fresh bread smells fill the air, and carts are loaded with different baked goods throughout the space. However, the conveyor belt that hangs above does drop constant bread flakes, and the floor becomes very slippery, which is a legitimate safety concern. With so many carts full of product sitting out, it does make you wonder how long some of the baked goods have been left out. I ordered three large subs online the day before to be prepped for a birthday party we were headed to in Atlantic City the following day. Unfortunately, the staff didn't realize this on their end, and the pickup got extended to 15-20 minutes later with extra help from the back. I think with the rushed work needed, the sandwiches suffered from this. There wasn't much meat and cheese at the end of the sandwiches, and the flavors were just okay, nothing special. The donuts ended up being a little hard with a sort of wet feeling to them. The regular cheesecake slice tasted more like cottage cheese and not much like normal cheesecake, which was disappointing. Every so often me and my son come here to get some delicious rolls, lunch meat, and soft pretzels! It's always such a nice experience and the lady behind the counter is always extra sweet to us! My only concern is the sport cars that often seemed to be parked on the side of the building, and racing out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed while I'm walking my son out to the car. That was definitely nerve wracking. Otherwise, I really like this bakery and will continue to return but with caution in the parking lot! read more

Stand by my one star rating. Revisited because a friend wanted to go in this crap hole and here is what I witnessed in my 5 minutes there. A man washing & vacuuming his car by the front door and next to the 100 food crates that were stacked outside in the parking lot. 100s of pizelles with no packed on or expiration dates and an employee throwing rolls into bins that were placed on the dirty floor. The fresh bake bread at this place is incredible, HOWEVER... the deli is absolutely disgusting. I ordered ham and when I got home and was going to make a sandwich, there was mold in it. Most of the rolls are excellent which is why I keep going but I probably will stop soon. The main thing is that some of the workers are openly ripping off customers by "forgetting" how much items cost and covering up the prices that are taped on the counter. When they "forget" how much the rolls cost, they "estimate," and it's always $1-$3 above the price. Even though they have a cash register with the prices. They look you right in the eye & verbally tell the inflated price. It's happened to me three times already. Each time, I pointed it out very politely, and they reacted each time by shouting at me. Probably because they got caught. Not all workers, just some, but it's blatant and bizarre. Makes me not want to go there. This is a tough rating to give as the bread is excellent. My main concern is there overall Food Safety protocol. There are numerous deficiencies just outside the Haddon Heights facility. Doors open, trays, fans, racks stored on the ground. Is there a method to wash the racks product goes on after racks are stored externally. No real evident pest control. The other day an employee was washing his car with the dock door open, the dock contained product. With lunch meat now in the bakery it falls under FDA and USDA scrutiny. Also the prices have risen exponentially since the bakery was sold. If conditions are not improved do not be surprised if an inspection warrants a shut down or recall. read more

Bread tastes like it's a day old. Do not freeze the bread, as freezing makes it hard as a brick. The price is high for the poor quality.

I used to go to DelBuonos when it was owned by Nino but I haven't been there for awhile. I have gone there after it was sold to the new guy but didn't like it that much! as far as rolls, italian bread, etc. I'd much rather go to a real Italian bakery like Aversa's, Liscio's or Cacia's. I have been here so many times and can't believe that I have not reviewed it yet. This place is really awesome. Fresh bread, rolls and buns. You can smell the freshness from a mile away. They also discount their breads a little instead of just throwing it. So there was a time we got like 6 long rolls for a dollar or 4 for a quarter etc. Deals vary but really good deals on slightly old breads. They do have a kitchen which is amazing. Philly cheesesteak, meatballs, burgers, etc. The sandwiches are really good and they use good meats and cheese. Overall recommend this place. read more

Meatball parm is best to be had. Cheesesteak hoagie is perfection though watch the lettuce as I got a bunch of brown pieces last time. I typically ask them to put the lettuce and the tomatoes on the side, just in case. I don't need them to enjoy the cheesesteak so if they look less than very fresh, I skipped them. Cheesecake is light and creamy bs dense and cloying. Philly style, soft pretzels have great flavor. Since they are in a paper bag the later in the day you purchase them the more stale they are. As soon as you walk in, you are hit with the incredible smell of their bread. They offer many different options to choose from. However, they do not just sell bread. They have a huge variety of sweets, appetizers, and deli sandwiches. You can get anything from a breakfast sandwich to an Italian hoagie. I pop in here often for breakfast and lunch sandwiches at Carmen's and I always end up snagging some fresh, warm, light and fluffy rolls or bagels. The fresh bread is wildly cheap for what I feel like you get, roughly $.50 a roll/bagel. The sandwiches at Carmen's are a little overpriced but they are HUGE! Their bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel is $7-$8 but has 3 eggs on it, 3-4 slices of bacon, and 2 slices on American cheese! It's amazing! And their sandwiches are easily two meals for the average person. The main reason for the 4 stars instead of 5... I'm consistently disappointed by their sweet treats. Wow. Amazing. Just ran into grab four dozen rolls for a backyard party. So many racks of rolls inside that is was difficult to maneuver among the racks. I've been to Del Buono's Bakery several times over the years when I'm up in the area visiting. I am originally from this area as well, but do not live there currently. This bakery is located on the Black Horse Pike, which tends to be a pretty busy road. There is a Carmen's Deli inside the bakery as well. From the outside, it doesn't look like there's much there; there are a few signs, but if you aren't paying attention, it is possible to miss it. There's quite a bit of parking though. There is one set of doors that you can use to enter; there are several exit doors though (regular and wholesale). My most recent visit here was when I was on my way back home to Virginia Beach. As a general practice, we stop here on the way home to get rolls and other baked goods to take home. Some will be used right away, while some will be put in the freezer to be used at a later time. The main thing going against us on this visit was that it was a pretty rainy day. It was a bit of a chore keeping the breads dry until we got them to the car. Once you come inside, there are lots of trays of different types of baked goods such as bread, rolls, bagels, etc. There is also a conveyor belt you can see in there and the breads come off of that belt. If you're there early enough, you can see them coming out. On this visit, we got a few dozen rolls, along with a few other breads to bring home. Since Carmen's Deli was there, we also got sandwiches there to take with us on the road to have later in the day for lunch. I've had some of the breads there since I have gotten home and they are good as always. It's a better taste than what you can find in a conventional grocery or big box store, and the cost is lower than those other stores as well based on pricing I see here at home. The breads were cooked to perfection and nice and soft. Overall, this is a great bakery to get your baked goods if you're in the area, whether you live there or just visiting. The staff were quite friendly and the check out process was quite easy. If you're in the area and want to take some breads home with you, this is where you need to go. read more

I've been meaning to check this place out since I moved here. I love all of the statues outside. Racks. When you first walk in see you racks and racks upon racks of delicious breads and rolls. Some are bagged, some are sliced, some you can tear off as many as you need. My sister-in-law told me to bring over to the BBQ bread. Confused I asked buns? brioche? Hawaiian? White? Her answer was 2-3 varieties. OK, mission on. I ended up getting sliced Italian loaf, onion bread, and a seeded long roll. I also saw pepperoni bread and had to get that too. So many compliments on where I got the bread, the onion bread was so fluffy and incredible flavor. The pepperoni bread I kept for myself, no regrets :) At the checkout counter I mentioned it was my first time here and the guy next to me laughed and said, it won't be your last. He's right. Love coming here for my rolls. Seeing them come off the conveyor belt, ahhhhhh nice and warm. Well what can I say it warms the heart lol. You walk in and you see the rolls and the cookies and the sticky buns and the Little pies and cakes in the industrial setting but you just know that they are fresh. Then on the other side is Carmen's deli so now you can also get hoagies. Can't beat that. It smells sooooo good when you walk in. The staff is always nice and you know your getting good quality that is fresh! Oh and don't let me forget about their bagels too. I love their bagels. I have to say I enjoy their bagels over some bagel stores that are down the black horse pike not far from them! I totally enjoy coming here. We try to come here as often as we can! Our most recent visit was on Thanksgiving. I cannot say enough about the incredible rolls here. Fresh right from the gleaming industrial oven you can see when you walk in the door. These rolls are so airy, so incredibly fresh and delicious. You'll never want another Amoroso roll again. They freeze well too! Once thawed, you'd never guess they were ever frozen. Del Buono's also has pizzelle, different cakes, cookies, donuts, and sliced, packaged breads too. All delicious. There is a deli attached for sandwiches and pasta salads, cole slaw, etc. The owner, Tom, is always present and very friendly, several of his kids work here.. This is a family business and it shows. He cares for his employees. Nice to support a small local business. You will not forget his rolls though.......heaven ! read more

We've been coming here since I was a kid. The decor outside is so over-the-top kitschy that I have to smile whenever I'm there: fiberglass animals, a horse and buggy, barrels, the fat black nautical chain corralling the parking lot. You walk in to this long, low-slung building and smell of bread washes over you. Sometimes I forget what I came for because the smell just carries you away. Rows of tall wire carts make "aisles" of raisin bread, sandwich bread, round rolls, long rolls, Italian cookies, pizza crusts. It varies depending on what they are making. Inside, you walk into the innards of a giant bakery, with piles of freshly baked bread in different shapes and forms. In addition, you'll also find things like calzones, strombolis, pies, even Girl Scout cookies (although not a Girl Scout in sight, which I thought was against the rules, but I digress). Next door is Carmen's Deli. The set up is a weird. You order the food, then pay for it, then go back in line and wait for the food to be made and delivered to you.
