I never want to judge a business on a first visit. So, this review comes after 5 visits. There's no doubt the baked goods here are top notch which probably explains its longevity. However, this isn't the most welcoming bakery. As I entered I see customers and store employees interacting in a pleasant way. Welcoming customers as they enter. However, every time I go to this bakery I'm hardly noticed. I tried to ask one person if it was ok to pick some rolls just coming out of the oven and I was told "The rolls are in the bins." I saw other customers taking rolls as they came out of the oven with no protest from anyone. This happened more then once. What really bothered me was my experience at check out. The person in front of me was greeted as they paid for their purchase and upon leaving, received a "Thank you have a nice day." When I approached they young lady said nothing and after I paid with my credit card all I received was "You're good" without even looking up. This has been the same attitude I've received each time I've gone there. I only pass through the area a couple of times a month and I really like the baked goods but not enough to accept this type of treatment. Maybe I'll just learn to bake. read more

We live nearby and stopped by Sunday morning around 11:30AM. We'd been wanting to try the place since we first moved in a month ago. The place was nearly wiped out, but still had a good selection. Their bread is flaky, doughy, with a nice crunch. No wonder places use their bread for cheese steaks. Their glazed donut was AWESOME. It was the right amount of dense, not overly sugary, and perfectly glazed. It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. The best part was the fresh bread out of the oven. "Used to"... -They "used to" be price friendly. -They "used to" to have paper bags for their rolls. -They "used to" have me as a customer for 15 years. Prices are up to $4/dozen. Paper bags have been replaced with the thinnest, cheapest plastic bag imaginable. Did you ever put a HOT fresh roll into a PLASTIC bag? And its a thin bag. Very, very thin. Not even like the plastic bag Deluxe puts their rolls in. These bags are more like the ones PetSmart has in their parking lot for picking up dog poo. Yes, costs go up but quality can never suffer. I could handle the increase in cost but moving to platics bags for my families fresh rolls throws the quality of their product out the window. read more

There were 2 ladies behind counter as personable as Ever!! I thought I was getting big piece either crumb cake or --something !!? It was 8-10" round whole cake , Holy Moly!! Wow! Just simply fantastic! This is primarily a bread bakery, so if you looking for other sweets this isn't your place. Though, they do have a small selection of various pies,cakes,sweet rolls and cookies. Their forte is bread which is practically unbeatable; and in my opinion, easily the top 2 or 3 bakeries in the Philly region for bread. The bread is often fresh out of the oven and piping hot! It just doesn't get any fresher and needs no adornments. All their bread and rolls has a perfect, just crisp enough crust and soft, moist, pleasantly chewy interior. It is so damn good, you don't even need butter. The prices are very reasonable; you can get an entire loaf of Italian bread for 50 cents. Service is friendly and quick. Haddon Heights-sales floor was clean and that's important to me. The inviting smell hits you in the parking lot. I like that fact that I can grab hot rolls right from the rack. They remain fresh once I get them home as opposed to supermarket rolls that were hanging around for a while before we could get our hands on them. this is a bread bakery. While I know they have pies and whatnot at the front, it's not the attraction. I am not sure where these conveyer belts are, but they do have the big racks that come out and you can get your bread while the rolls are still cooling off from the trays. My folks send me here to get their cheesesteak rolls (the pick up the meat from some other place in south jersey) and I must say this bread is pretty banging. I mean, we really don't have any bread bakery's in VA, in fact we don't really have any good bakery's period in the DMV area. So it's really a treat to go up here and stock up. I picked up some snowflake rolls for them last time. Which I thought were hamburger buns because they were so huge. Turns out my folks don't get their snowflake rolls from Del Buono's but I had one with Thanksgiving dinner and it was pretty banging. No complaints. Mommom has been taking to this location for years. I always get a bit worried when I have to venture off and find it alone, just look for the white building with all the decor on it and you've found it. If you are going for the Rolls then you are OK. They are good and fresh. Since the new owners have taken over, the bake goods are lacking in selection and flavor. Tried the sticky buns, which for the most part seemed like old cake dough with added toppings. The inside of the buns were yellow? Never had a sticky bun with yellow cake inside. Seemed as if they used some type cornmeal instead of regular flour and they were very dry. Also tried the Jewish Apple cake and it had very few apples and tasted very bland no flavor whatsoever. Very disappointed, as we usually liked the sticky buns from the past. The deli sells the baked goods now which at the time we were visiting during the week was somewhat lacking in selection.
