There's a TV above the bar on the left near the door and one in the far corner of the restaurant near the garage door. There are about 9 seats at the counter. Large outdoor seating with a fireplace for those perfect San Diego days. Stopped by for lunch today, arrived at about 11:48 am. The restaurant was empty except for 5 people and about 6 employees. We were seated immediately at the last table next to the pizza oven. This was the perfect spot for people-watching. I could see the entire restaurant, the outside seating area, Eureka's outside seating, the giant pizza oven, and part of the kitchen. Seats were comfortable. I had the booth while my son sat in the chair. But the table was dirty. It looked clean but hadn't been wiped down. When I put my phone on the table it picked up the pizza crust residue. I used the napkins the server brought with my son's coffee to wipe off the table. We ordered a Spinach and Ricotta white pizza, a Sausage and Mushroom red pizza and a house brewed coffee. My son enjoyed his coffee and his pizza. But said his coffee was cold. I tried a taste of his and enjoyed the texture and spice of the sausage. You could taste the fennel and it seemed freshly made. But felt the crust was too floppy. But my Spinach and Ricotta pizza was a disappointment. Not only was the pizza undercooked, but it was also cold. I didn't see or taste any garlic or parmesan. The ricotta tasted as if it came straight from the fridge. And the spinach :( Popeye would not be happy. The spinach was cold and tasted like it was frozen. The crust was floppy, limp, not what anyone wants from a pizza. This can easily be fixed with adjusting the pizza oven temperature. I ended up bringing the rest of the pizza home. Our server was a little unattentive. As mentioned there were only a few people in the restaurant. The server for the couple next to us visited their table at least 6 times while we were there, making sure their food was okay, etc. He even went as far as explaining how the wireless payment system worked. Ours seemed apathetic. She came by once to refill our water glasses before our food arrived and after it did, came near our table to ask if our food was okay. But I finished my water during my meal and my glass wasn't refilled. When it came time to pay, she put the wireless payment on the table and left. Overall, the restaurant needs some improvements to the pizza oven temperature, food temperature, and wait staff. read more

Shopping in San Diego really brought a craving for pizza and salad - but not just any pizza and salad. We wanted the OG neapolitana pizza and we found it here. This place is in a business center complex and we arrived around 4pm which was convenient for us because there werent many people here. Del Lusso is right next to Eureka and the first thing we noticed was the hospitality a DL. We were greeted upon arrival and sat in the patio area with umbrellas providing shade. Our hostess did a great job of explaining her favorites and we went for those immediately - we ordered the mediterranean salad, the funghi pizza and the galluchi. And we washes it down with a mexican coke. While waiting for our order the owner Walter came by and introduced himself. Great story behind the business and we were impressed with him and the business. Top Shelf indeed. The food was on point - salad was super light and the feta and capers were really good. The funghi pizza was really tasty and the garlic came thru very nicely. The galluchi didnt disappoint and was very moist and chewy. Im so glad we had a white pizza and a red pizza on this visit they balanced each other out. My wallet feels like I ordered the entire menu, but I ordered a family style chicken parmigiana and a L' Americano pizza with the hot honey on the side. If I knew how the pizza changed flavor with the hot honey, I would have had it made with the honey on top. It was really good. My only issue is that for $40 they only gave me 2 pieces of chicken. It was really good chicken but my family was still hungry, so I'm glad I bought the pizza too. But for $70, a small pizza, 2 pieces of chicken, and spaghetti seems like a lot but we are on vacation, and it was good so I would definitely go back. read more

A local gem with lovely indoor/outdoor ambiance and most important, yummy pizza! The L'Americano pizza was a standout- I was a bit hesitant about spicy honey over pepperoni pizza- but since I love each of those ingredients separately, why not make them a combo? Instead of tasting an obvious honey flavor, it is actually quite subtle and rounds out/balances the saltiness of the pepperoni, rich creaminess of Fior di Latte mozzarella and the best part, highlights the spiciness. Addicting! A note for those hardcore Napoli pizza purists- this is not the high hydration dough with big air pockets, where you basically have to eat with utensils otherwise it'd fall apart (which when we were in Italy we loved but I could see practicality-wise how that kind of dough wouldn't work as easily here). With that being said the dough flavor is yummy and it is nice to be able to pick it up easily ;) They have a great happy hour special for their pizzas and also appetizers - Walter the owner is awesome, warm and welcoming, and we had great attentive service from the server Sean. We've been coming to Del Lusso as a family (2 kids- 10/12) pretty much since they opened, about 4 years ago. We most recently visited with my parents who were in town, late on a Friday night and Walter and the staff were so welcoming and quick to set us up with a table for 6 for my tired parents. Over the years, the kids have enjoyed the surrounding grassy area, along with other kids which meant my husband and I could enjoy a nice glass of red and quiet conversation by the outdoor fire pit. Each of us have our favorite dishes some of which include; the poutine with pulled pork, meatballs, and Caprese salad as starters, the simple yet delicious Margherita pizza, the Blanco pizza (real truffle oil on top) and of course the Nutella pizza for desert is a must!! Both the flour AND the tomatoes used in their dishes are imported from Italy. Del Lusso has long been a favorite of ours and feels like home with Walter and his wonderful staff every time we visit! Yesterday, I booked a large group for my wife's celebration, and chose Del Lusso, because I knew the food is delicious and felt the relaxed ambiance would be an enjoyable experience for all. It was! What a gem! We love a good Italian restaurant. My family of 5 and I came here to celebrate my cousin's graduation and had a grand time. Our server, Ashley, was very attentive and helpful. She checked on us and made sure we were taken care of. Walter also made us feel welcomed and let us know that the food here is authentic and the flour is imported straight from Italy! We ordered the veggie pizza, family sized shrimp pasta, a prociutto pizza, a spaghetti, a chicken salad and the three scoop gelato (chocolate, Italian pistacho, and Madagascar vanilla). First off, the owner of this business was a very nice gentleman. Walter was really friendly, he gave some good recommendations on the menu and made sure that everything came out correct for us. The food was good. The bread we had before our main dishes was really soft and good. The pie we had was interesting, the toppings sounded really good but once we ate it, it felt like it was missing something. Kinda the same thing with the pasta as well. The ambiance there was nice, I love that part of town. Very away from everything in an area that you can have nice dates at. The fire pit was very a nice touch. After a very, very, very long drive from NorCal with two hungry little kids and an issue at our hotel, I was exhausted and stressed out. But sitting on the patio next to the fire pit, the anxiety from the day seemed to melt away, especially with how pleasant and cheery the staff was. It was such a nice experience that I brought friends back the next night. The restaurant opens up fully into the patio, so whether we sat inside or outside, we still got lots of fresh air and circulation. I liked how the large salt crystals in the Italian salad gave the lettuce more flavor and texture. The pizzas were saucy, and the Fior di Latte gave the pizzas a light, fresh taste. The calzones were doughy, but they were also well stuffed. The breading did not at all feel like filler. Pizza -- check. Healthy foods -- check. Fresh air -- check. I really enjoyed this place! The vibes here are so fun and the staff is super friendly. My family and I made reservations here on a Saturday night for about 7pm. We showed up and realized that it was a bit more chilly than anticipated -- when we requested to switch our outdoor spot to indoors the manager swooped in and accommodated right away! We ordered a couple of appetizers: a salad and meatballs. Both came out right away and my family devoured them. For dinner I went with a salad and asked them to add plain chicken while removing a number of different ingredients that I couldn't eat. The salad came out incorrectly 2 times, but the staff was super helpful in making sure that they corrected the issue. The rest of my family ordered spaghetti + meatballs, and 2 pizzas. The pizza was great! They loved the food and scarfed every last bit of it. We were in the Carlsbad area for a few days of vacation and were looking for some good Neapolitan pizza. After reading some good reviews, we knew that Del Lusso was on tap for the evening. We arrived around 630 pm on Labor Day evening and found a very inviting indoor/outdoor venue with a very large firepit as the centerpiece. Our waiter greeted us almost immediately after being seated and we began what was a very enjoyable experience. We ordered a pepper salad and a mushroom/sausage pizza....we usually love to share when going out for pizza. The salad was incredibly fresh, a colorful display of peppers, red onion, olives, feta cheese, and some good EVO. It was not your traditional salad as there was not any lettuce, but waiter made it clear when we placed our order. The pizza was prepared with a light sauce, wonderful crust, and nice qty of italian sausage and mushrooms....very flavorful! Overall, prices were reasonable, atmosphere was very pleasant, our waiter was fantastic and attentive, and the food was yummy. We even had the owner check in on us to make sure we were happy with the order. We will definitely be back next time in town...this place started up right prior to the pandemic and has been able to emerge thru challenging times as a real strong option when in the mood for pizza or pasta. Joined friends here for lunch recently as one of them had eaten here before and raved about the pizza. Kind of an odd location but a comfortable atmosphere and great service. Most in my party had a red pizza and were happy with their choices, my mistake was going white. Had the Bianco Pizza and surprisingly found it to be basically flavorless. Figured the white base and/or house-made fennel sausage would provide the necessary spice/seasoning to elevate the other benign flavors but the only noticeable taste came from the truffle oil. Had to supplement with both pepper flakes and parmesan cheese which is really not something you expect to do with a white pizza. One in our party had the Chicken Parmesan and said it was tasty. My husband and I have been wanting to come here for over a year now. We live very close to Bressi Ranch, and when we ate at Eureka Burger next door, we saw the sign saying "opening soon." When COVID hit last March, we stopped going out to eat. Now that outdoor dining is back in San Diego county, we were looking forward to an experience. Right away, the service was outstanding. We came yesterday, on Saturday at around 11:00 a.m. The place was empty, and the owner Walter promptly greeted us and had us seated. We had our dog with us, and their outdoor patio and giant fire pit is a perfect setting. The menu was super easy to access by scanning a QR code on your phone (all contact-less). Wait staff were wearing masks and gloves and hand sanitizer was provided. The menu was your standard Neopolitan-style pizza joint, but what I really appreciated was the gluten-free options. I don't eat gluten-free 100% of the time, but this day I felt like being a little healthier. All of their ingredients for the pizzas are made in-house, including the gluten-free pizza crust option. There were also two gluten-free dessert choices on the menu, which is a double win! Here's what we ordered: STACKED CAPRESE I wish the tomatoes were a bit sweeter, but everything else was fine. Caprese is hard to screw up MEDITERRANEAN SALAD Your standard Mediterranean salad with kalamata olives, feta cheese, red onion, and cucumber. Great light starter. The salad was dressed well and had a good balance of salt, fat, and acid. We opted not to add chicken or shrimp, but you can! RED PIZZA: SAUSAGE AND MUSHROOM While my husband left the table, I ordered it with a gluten-free crust ($4 extra). Our server told me it was house-made, and other patrons have said they can't taste the difference. This intrigued me to challenge to see if my husband (who is NOT a gluten-free kind of guy) could tell the difference, so I ordered it without telling him. While we were eating, he complimented how great and light the crust tasted, with good flavor! He said he could taste the butter in the crust, but not too overwhelming. I smiled in my head, knowing the secret. Later when the owner came to chat with us, he accidentally let slip that is was GF, not knowing the inside secret between me and the waiter. However, my husband wasn't even mad! He was genuinely impressed that had that not slipped, he would have never known or guessed it was GF. HUGE win for me! DESSERT: CHEESE BERRY TART This was described as a gluten-free cheesecake with berries/orange marmalade glaze on top. I could tell it was homemade, and for it being GF, it still tasted delicious! We (or should I say I) ate this one up fast. This was an all-around 5 star experience, and I'm so happy to have found a new pizza joint to come to! The service was fantastic. Our waiter even offered to bring us a water bowl for our dog without us asking (I didn't even think to ask!).
