    Left me a cut in half door instead of taking the extra mile (not even) to find a door that fit properly.

    Would give zero stars if I could. Del Mar reconstructed my basement after a pipe burst in January 2024. They emphasized how they would add insulation to my walls/pipes so it would not happen again. January 2026 the SAME pipe burst, and i had my walls opened to reveal zero insulation that was billed to my insurance in 2024. They also 'fit' a door in my basement which was just a door cut in half, instead of finding a door that fit properly. I wrote this review in January but was contacted by them to take it down in exchange for them paying for it to be fixed. It's now May 2026 with Mike from Del Mar builders playing phone tag. He eventually said he would send a check, but I never received noticed on my USPS dashboard that anything from him was even coming. I was left to pay the mitigation out of my own pocket and now I have to turn to insurance to fix it. Very unsatisfied with the poor quality work and unprofessionalism.

    This vendor is questionable and not recommended. Please do your research and go to the Cook County Chancery site to see how many lawsuits have been filed against them. http://www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org/CourtCaseSearch/DocketSearch.aspx Search for "Del Mar Builders" (Due to the Pandemic there seems to be only one page vs the 3 pages I saw the last time I checked... but 8 still give you pause, correct?) Note: Multiple people have reached out to me regarding this company and how they were similarly treated... 50K Taken, minimal work done, house at studs, and refusal to do more work until the full amount of insurance money was handed over... one good thing, my parents did not let them have more than 50K of the 580K... bad thing, they obtained 50K for 12K of work... for now.

I was never told my built-ins would be completely removed, I only discovered it after the fact. Had I known, I could have arranged for proper removal, but instead they were torn out in a way that left them unsalvageable, costing me thousands to replace. Afterward, the company pointed to the notes fine print rather than acknowledging the lack of communication. If you use them, insist on a clearly explained scope of work. If you rely on professionals to help you navigate confusing home repairs, like myself, these aren't your guys. Update to response: First, I want to be clear that I don't believe Adam or the company ever acted with any intent to mislead me or cause harm. I think this situation came down to a lack of communication that unfortunately left me in a difficult position. About 90% of what Adam said in his response is true, but none of it directly addresses my actual concern. The real issue is whether the company made sure I fully understood the scope of work. Perhaps Adam thought... what idiot would not see it was obvious that the entire built-ins would need to be removed? Hi... it's me, I'm the idiot and truly I had no idea. I thought only a portion of my ceiling would be affected. Given the huge difference between what I understood and what actually happened, I believe the company should have explained this much more clearly. Like many homeowners, I rely on professionals to explain the scope of work in plain terms. I think that's a reasonable expectation. Adam is correct with my quote below but he left out the part where I explained that my issue was solely that I didn't know the built-ins were being removed. This was never clearly communicated to me, nor was I given the opportunity to remove them properly myself. Because of that, I feel my ability to make informed decisions was taken away. I only reached out to Adam directly later, after another contractor told me the closet could have been saved and that the removal was "unnecessarily destructive." Whether that's true or not, I'll never know. because I wasn't given the chance to find out. To clarify, the note about the built-ins wasn't hidden in "fine print," but it was only mentioned once in the "Other Notes" section. It was never discussed verbally, by email, or over the phone, and it wasn't included in the detailed action items. I don't think a single mention buried in a notes section qualifies as meaningful disclosure, especially when no one pointed it out or explained its implications. Perhaps Adam does. Lastly, the other points raised, like the quality of the closet materials, water damage, or insurance support, are not relevant to my concern. My issue has always only been about the lack of clear communication regarding the scope of work. Thank you.

    1 star - Would Not Recommend…read more We hired this company to handle mitigation work in our closet following a roof issue. While they were able to complete the job quickly, the overall experience was deeply disappointing and I would not recommend them. The Good: They were responsive and able to get to the job quickly, which matters in a mitigation situation. The Bad: The work was messy and careless. Sealant ended up on furniture that was well outside the containment area, and when we raised the issue, the team showed little accountability or willingness to take ownership of the mistake. The drywall removal was also poorly executed. Rather than making clean cuts, they tore it out recklessly, damaging surrounding drywall that was otherwise in good condition -- creating additional work and cost for the rebuild team. The Dealbreaker: My biggest concern was their resistance to providing dry logs. Our insurance company required them, and I had to essentially argue with this company just to get documentation they should have readily provided. In an insurance claim situation, this kind of pushback is completely unacceptable and added unnecessary stress to an already difficult process. In summary -- fast response, but poor workmanship, little accountability, and a frustrating lack of cooperation on critical documentation.

We discussed colors and paint and the next day, Sal was at my house on time and ready to start work. Sal worked hard and didn't stop all day other than to grab some lunch. He completed the entire job which included re-painting a large shed, re-painting all of the cedar above my garage and front doorway and my front doors in two days. He did a beautiful job, leaving my place cleaned and better than I expected in the end. The work he did was done well and with care. he take pride in his work which is important in painting jobs as its the details that makes or breaks a painting project. He did such a great job we decided to extend our project to include the front entry door. Again same great care and pride in his work. Highly recommend and tbh we are considering him for a deck restain project now next!

After calling twice, I was connected with dispatch (Brooks), who assured me that someone would be out within the hour--and they kept their word. That's when Tim arrived, and he completely turned the experience around. Tim was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to helping us resolve the issue. He successfully rodded out the sewer lines and took the extra step of calling in two additional technicians to run cameras through the system to check for potential tree root intrusion. He even coordinated with another technician to inspect a possible mold concern. As someone who works in sales myself, I understand that things don't always go according to plan. What truly defines a company is how they respond when challenges arise. Exceptional customer service is tested in those moments, and Roto-Rooter passed with flying colors.
