I am writing to formally address several outstanding issues and discrepancies that remain unresolved following recent service interactions and communications. My primary concern stems from what appears to be a systemic failure to honor warranty commitments and address persistent problems. Firstly, the electrical issues for which your team has conducted multiple site visits continue to be unrectified. This ongoing problem significantly impacts my home's functionality and safety. Secondly, regarding the hot water tank, there has been a notable absence of clear communication regarding project details or potential warranty limitations from the outset. Crucially, during his in-home visit, Mr. Brendan, the Project Manager, explicitly assured me that both the hot water tank and the associated labor for its repair would be fully covered under warranty. While he mentioned an inquiry with the manufacturer regarding labor coverage, the current stance that labor is not covered directly contradicts this explicit assurance. It is pertinent to note that the hot water tank is only three years old and carries a six-year manufacturer's warranty, and a five year warranty with Delmar. During a recent service call, I personally overheard your plumber confirming the active warranty status of the unit. Thirdly, the bathroom cabinet, also installed three years ago, has developed significant warping. Your representative, Mr. Mike H attributed this to alleged misuse, specifically suggesting infrequent fan usage or excessively hot water temperatures. I must clarify that I consistently use the bathroom fan during each shower, and my preference is for moderate, not extremely hot, water temperatures. These assumptions do not align with my actual usage habits and appear to be an attempt to sidestep the obligation to cover the associated repair costs. The overall standard of service and communication provided by your company has been consistently below acceptable levels. Documented issues and findings have not been adequately addressed. Specifically, Mr. Mike's email stating that the warranty does not cover labor charges for necessary repairs is perplexing, they did however offer to give me an estimate for labor cost, provided for these very labor costs on items are still explicitly under warranty. Furthermore, my experience has been marred by instances where initial work required rework due to apparent oversights, leading to considerable inconvenience. I have made multiple attempts to schedule a direct discussion with Mr. Mike H. regarding these pressing matters; however, I have consistently been informed of his unavailability, and despite my requests, my calls have not been returned. I possess comprehensively documentation, including emails, text messages, and photographic evidence, which substantiates all the claims outlined above, and the many , many issues that happened during the rebuildMy objective is to achieve a fair and prompt resolution based on the original commitments and warranty terms. I trust that these documented concerns will be given the serious and immediate attention they require. I would have preferred to share these photos with Mike H. Would give zero stars if I could. Del Mar reconstructed my basement after a pipe burst in January 2024. They emphasized how they would add insulation to my walls/pipes so it would not happen again. January 2026 the SAME pipe burst, and i had my walls opened to reveal zero insulation that was billed to my insurance in 2024. They also 'fit' a door in my basement which was just a door cut in half, instead of finding a door that fit properly. I wrote this review in January but was contacted by them to take it down in exchange for them paying for it to be fixed. It's now May 2026 with Mike from Del Mar builders playing phone tag. He eventually said he would send a check, but I never received noticed on my USPS dashboard that anything from him was even coming. I was left to pay the mitigation out of my own pocket and now I have to turn to insurance to fix it. Very unsatisfied with the poor quality work and unprofessionalism. read more

They did ok work on fixing/replacing water damaged kitchen in my mother in law's house. Where they came up short was in doing the job the right way - and then they refused to fix the issue when I called them about it. They replaced damaged cabinets that were designed to not need pulls or knobs with cabinets that need them. My 90 year old mother-in-law (the home owner) didn't realize the cabinets needed pulls, she just thought they were hard to open. When I saw it, and called Jason at Del Mar, he told me that it didn't matter that the cabinets needed pulls, the old ones didn't have them so they were not going to put them. Really bad customer service - and don't expect them to do the right thing. Expect them to do what makes them the most money and causes them the least work. I will never call them again for services. If you do make sure you carefully manage ALL the details. read more

I personally know a former client of this company as the result of a house fire in South Holland. The work was sub par to say the least , they didn't in any way adhere to the promised timeline, and they tried extort additional funds from him without having completed one single portion of the home. The owner of the company then quit and threatened to sue and fraudulently place a lien on the property, and left the home owner housing insecure. I wish we would have never selected them to renovate our house! Our shingles are defected they were flying in our neighbors yards. We have cracks in our walls. Please do not use them! Still haven't received any further documentation from Delmar. I've also spoke with the previous employee and his emails with me and owner Mike indicates Mike was well aware of my request for a refund. My emails indicate you and your staff billed me for installing 507 sq ft of green board and tile in my bathroom, and removing and installing ALL NEW Fixtures-so basically a new bathroom. No permits, pulled, and you only painted, patched and cleaned this unit. They continue to deflect the billing on a previous employee. I've provided you with a video of the unit before the fire and photos after your alleged overhaul of my bathroom. It's the same bathroom with a paint job. I am a realtor for my client who used this company to put on a new roof for a Hyde Park townhouse. The roof has since been leaking and he has reached out to the company many times with only promises to come fix the problem but no results. He was issued a five year warranty on June 21, 2022. All I can say is WOW! The team at Del Mar are true professionals. Their skilled craftsmen transformed my fire damaged home into something better than I could have imagined. Let me back up. My family and I had the unfortunate experience of being involved in a house fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but our home was left in an unlivable state. This was a devastating experience and we really did not know where to begin. Our insurance agency gave us some of their preferred restoration companies and we started calling. Del Mar was by far the most responsive and professional of the contacts we were given. They immediately had someone from their team over to get the ball rolling. They put me at ease and got to work right away. The process was relatively fast, and the level of craftsmanship was top notch. The men they had working in our home were real artisans. Also, we had a project manager working with us along the way. We would regularly discuss the work in progress and he always made sure our needs were being met. The result far surpassed what they had promised. The crew at Del Mar returned our home to us better than it was before the fire. As a side note; my wife is a bit of a perfectionist and neat freak. She was blown away by how beautiful and clean everything looked at the end. It brought tears to her eyes. Thank you to everyone at Del Mar. I wish I could rate this company a zero. They were contracted to complete a job at my mother's home which was damaged due to a house fire July 2022. The work that needed performed was siding repair, roof repair, painting, carpet cleaning, window repair and fence repair. The company ask for half of the money upfront and the rest at completion. This wouldn't be a problem if they did work worthwhile. We never got to the completion stage; we barely got to the starting stage. Here we are nearly a year later; May 2023 and my mother had to hire someone else to start and finish the job. After paying what was asked upfront, they sent painters to her home who did a terrible paint job (they did not paint ceilings, remove paintings or tv's from the walls). They then sent someone out to clean the carpet who informed me they were not a company and the machine they had I could have rented myself; needless to say, they were asked to leave without performing any work. They later delivered siding to her home that sat in the driveway for 2 months until we finally found someone else to get the job done. She later received an invoice for 11 cents. This was laughable considering she paid 11k to get a terrible paint job and siding delivered. At this point she is expecting a substantial refund!!! She was told by Mike they had pictures of them doing the siding. She then asked that they provide proof because she knew that was an outright lie!!!! After no proof could be provided, they stated she was due $900. So, you mean to tell me she was charged $10,100 for half painting 3 rooms and delivering siding???!!!! These people are a joke!!!! None of the workers are contractors. I later found out they were not listed as a recommended contracting company with the insurance after they lied and said they were. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY IN NO COMPACITY!!! My mother is a Senior and I feel this company took full advantage of that!!!! They have proven to be unprofessional, rude, deceitful, unethical, unreasonable liars with terrible workmanship that's failed miserably!!! one good thing, my mother knew not to pay them any remaining balance after Mike tried to lie and say they completed the work. Contacted this company for ceiling damage in my kitchen. A rep came out and the next day sent me a quote. As soon as my homeowners association approved the quote I contacted the company to set up date for work to begin. A receptionist stated she sees my quote in system and would notify project manager who would call me shortly. No one ever returned any of the four calls I made after that. On last call I was told they would pass on to the "boss". I stated it seems you're not interested in this business and no response. Don't waste your time with this company. read more

Del Mar Builders was hired by my insurance company on 9/11/23 after a tree fell on the power line and damaged the weather head pole, the roof,and the shingles.On 9/13/23 Del Mar's adjuster came out, assessed the damage,and stated he was going to order a tarp until the repairs could be done. That NEVER OCCURRED. After several days of waiting and knowing that it was supposed to rain all weekend, I contacted my insurance company on 9/18/23, which sent out an emergency tarp crew to tarp the hole. Fast forward 30 days later (10/12/23), Del Mar has DONE NOTHING. After complaining to an employee of Del Mar Builders that I was going to file a complaint with the BBB and all social media outlets, the President and Owner, Mike Hudek called to apologize for his Project Manager's inexperience, as well as his company's overall unprofessional approach in handling the job. Mike Hudek gave his word that he was taking over and would see the job to completion, send his electrician over that day to survey the damage so he could get started the next day, 10/13/23. Also Mike Hudek offered a $500 gift card as his way of apologizing for his company dropping the ball. Well, that apology was a waste of breath and the gift card non-existent, as the next day (10/13/23) by 10:30 AM, no one came. I called Mike Hudek at 10:33 AM, and left him a lengthy voice mail inquiring about the electrician and his failure to come the day before. I contacted his PM, Presley DeYoung, to no avail. Lastly, I contacted Cynthia George, an employee to see if she knew what was going on. At 11:29 AM, Cynthia called to say the electrician would be arriving within a few minutes to repair the weather head, and Mike Hudek, the owner would arrive later. Needless to say, it took three hours for Mike Hudek to arrive only to be untrustworthy, defensive, argumentative, arrogant, unprofessional, and rude. He left within 15 minutes, and the electrician never arrived. I do not recommend this company for any reason. read more

I mistakenly hired Del Mar Builders to restore the inside of my home after a fire. They totally screwed up my laundry room, they do not back up their work and the owner was very dishonest. I picked up and paid for several items which I was supposed to be refunded for but never received. The insurance company paid $7,700 to insulate my attic, which was never done. They owe me a little over $11,000. It's been 2 years now and they continue to ignore me. The project manager came out to inspect and said they will return to make things right but they never would return my calls to make an appointment. They are good at ripping people off. I was hoping to get home with everything done, but when I got there, there was garbage on the floor(food). At that moment I realize that the garbage was nun major. When I was entering my living room I was DISAPPOINTED when I saw everything gone, all the wood and dry wall were gone. I was put on orders and had to move away from my first house near Chicago. Now with the rental here in Iowa, I was concerned of how I was going to keep an eye on my house, especially with the wind storms that have wrecked havoc on my block. Petr called me and sent me updates as work progressed. I loved that he even let me pick the new color which looks fabulous....and was all done from 200 miles away. And I love the work! After being told by State Farm that they wouldn't be able to fix my water damage and cracked pipe because it wasn't a sudden occurrence, but had been happening for awhile (albeit behind the wall so I had no idea), I called Del Mar, based on State Farm's recommendation, for a free estimate, indicating that this was urgent and I wanted/needed it fixed ASAP. The guy came out, took pics for about an hour, and said he'd need to come again with someone else to give me a quote. This was Friday. He said he'd call me on Monday to set up a time for he and this other gentlemen to come out. I wasn't happy about the delay, but his supervisor, who I'd initially spoken to on the phone, said this might happen, but they'd do all they could to get me taken care of right away. So I agreed. However, on Monday he called to schedule my REPAIR stating that he "knew I wanted it taken care of right away." When I asked the cost, he said he was still working on it. I told him I wouldn't schedule a repair until I knew what the full cost would be. He thought my insurance was paying for it. When I told him that he was only referred to us by our insurance company and we'd be handling the charges ourselves, he told me he'd have the quote to me by the end of the next day. I never heard from him again and it's been a week. Thankfully I found another company which was able to come out, give me a quote and complete the work within 24 hours. read more

I moved into a condo fully renovated by Delmar which had suffered fire damage. I was very impressed with Ryan and his staff at Delmar as they were very responsive in addressing issues that only could have been uncovered once the unit was occupied. But what really impressed me was when it was discovered that the unit had no insulation in the back bedrooms, which was not covered under the scope of work the condo association/insurance company had specified. None the less, Ryan and his staff assisted me with getting my extremely cold unit insulated, something some other companies may have passed the buck on. I was very impressed and warm! read more
