We saw one a few blocks from our hotel, so we dropped off our luggage, changed and headed out for Brunch. The place is so cozy. It had some Mexican decor, but maybe it was because Mexican Independance Day was just a few days away, either way it was adorable. Aside the restaurant there is a bakery, which I believe is how they started off. The bakery has everything from cakes to pan dulce, YUM!! I had Café de Olla and Chilaquiles Rojos, which were served with grilled Chicken and Beans. I added scrambled eggs, but they really weren't needed. Probably the best Chilaquiles I have ever had. Everything was so savory. I do have to rant about the sauce on the Chilaquiles. Wow, what flavor!!! Absolutely delicious!!! We tried to go again on a different day, but went at a peak time and the wait time was longer than we were willing to wait. So, we got coffee and pan dulce to go. The service here is also very good. They definitely run a tight operation. Almost too rigid, but for the Chilaquiles, I would come back over and over. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to come back, but if you are ever in Mazatlán, you have to try this place.

Great service and great food. They accommodated our large group of 14 with no problem. Would…read moredefinitely return and try again.

Finding vegan food in Mazatlan isn't easy. In fact, La Ruta Vegana is one of only two fully vegan…read morerestaurants in Centro Historico Mazatlan. But it's so good that we ended up there twice for dinner during our recent visit to this vibrant city. The restaurant feels a bit like you have been invited into someone's home. An open door welcomes you in, and you are swiftly greeted with a friendly smile and shown to a table. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed, and a cat sometimes strolls in through the open door to have a look around. La Ruta's menu includes a salad, several pasta options, pizza, hamburgers, dessert, and of course an array of Mexican dishes. We opted for Mexican dishes each time, obviously. FYI, most of the servers speak some English, but it's helpful to have a translator app if you have questions about something in particular. On our first visit, we were given a free appetizer of a soy-based ceviche. We were starving, and it really hit the spot! We washed it down with a refreshing agua fresca (guanabana aka soursop). My order of quesadillas de asada (made of soy meat) were delicious, but my husband's fajitas (made of seitan) were out of this world! The flavor of the meat was incredible -- succulent, juicy, well seasoned, and just slightly fatty to really give that meaty feeling to it. On our return visit, they were sadly out of the fajitas so I chose the asada tacos. They were great, and my husband ordered a huge plate of nachos that were quite tasty. They had a homemade cheese sauce on them that was lighter tasting and seemed to be made of vegetables. Again our server was really sweet and friendly, and we enjoyed our visit. I highly recommend visiting this lovely restaurant. La Ruta Vegana is clearly passionate about making quality food, serving it in a pleasant and welcoming environment, and doing it all with a smile.

It was delicious and held us over until the food came about 30 minutes later. The food was good, the service was good and the decor was very cute and cozy. There was even a cat napping in a tree pot out front. I would recommend anyone to try it.
