Amazing first impression! Located in a super cute space in "downtown" Del Mar. Everyone in the office was super friendly, especially Tina. Great First Experience! Del Mar Optometric Clinic's modern high-tech equipment ensured that my visit was efficient. Pre-filling forms online via ZocDoc facilitated instant check-in -- no waiting! All personnel were polite and accomodating. Dr. Fasciani was efficient, yet complete. He answered all questions I asked. Further, I believe Dr. Fasicani's lense selection procedure provided optimal vision correction prescription with the least amount of "guessing" on my part. I suspect that frames and lenses were more expensive than I might find, elsewhere, but I believe Dr. Fasciani's assessment was likely much more accurate and Claudia's frame guidance and fitting more complete than that of the previous optometrist with whom I consulted, 2 years prior. I don't usually write reviews although I am thankful for other Yelpers that do because that's one of the things I look at when trying to find good businesses to go to in the area. I moved to San Diego 2 years ago and was in desperate need for an eye exam. After much research, I finally chose to go to Del Mar Optometric and boy, am I glad I did! First, the office is super cute and looks very up to date as the photos show. Secondly, the staff at the front desk is super friendly and nice. I met with Dr. Graham on my first visit and he and his team were very thorough with my eye exam. I was impressed by his professionalism and knowledge. Before leaving, I was so impressed with the practice that I immediately booked an appointment for my 11 year old (and now in the process of booking an appt for my husband). Then, I had a follow up appt. with Dr. Fasciani and I was also impressed with his knowledge, and professionalism, as well as his ability to explain a somewhat complicated situation to me. Both Dr. Graham and Dr. Fasciani are super nice and they know their stuff. I highly recommend either one of them - they're both great and I trust my and my family's eye care with them!! And finally, the office has a very nice selection of stylish frames. Everyone in the office was so helpful to me and my 11 year old in every way! Exam price was misquoted over the phone when I made the appointment. Left with no receipt or instructions for contact lenses, having paid way more than I expected. Was told later by office staff that they don't give receipts? Had no paperwork or instructions to refer to when I had problems over the weekend with contacts. Office staff made a rude comment about well I should just go to Costco. Offered a merchandise credit and then finally offered to refund part but not all... Dr Graham is great, been going there for years. But the office staff is seriously lacking ....... read more

Del Mar Optometric has the most inept and rude office staff. Their assistant doesn't know how to put a call on hold so you can hear the office staff talk about you when she sets the phone down, specifically the office manager Genie. She's condescending and rude. She sets the tone and example for her clueless office staff. The doctors are both incompetent. I have the same prescription in both eyes, and yet I had lenses made 3 times and each time they were incorrect. The office staff told me something completely different than both doctors, so I still have no idea why this was such a headache. I was gracious the first few times, but lost my patience. I'm tired of spending money and time going to their office and getting the run around. One time when I came in, the girl at the counter was eating yogurt and told me she was busy. She finished her snack and perusing her phone and then said ok I can help you now. They really are the worst office staff. I've also been hung up on twice. I decided to get glasses elsewhere. They wouldn't fax my prescription because the doctor wanted to redo my exam (at my expense). My contacts are fine, so I know the prescription is ok, they just aim to squeeze as much money as possible out of their customers. When I called back and was short with one of the office staff, she babbled incoherently, rudely told me she knew how to send a fax but wouldn't explain why they wouldn't fax my prescription to my new eye place. This is the point where she sat the phone down and she and Genie discussed me, thinking I couldn't hear. Completely unprofessional. Genie lied and tried to blame the new office I was seeing. Caught in her lie, because the office I went to quoted her and told me at exactly what time she called, she rudely called me honey and curtly said she sent my prescription when in fact she hadn't. She sent my prescription scrawled on a white paper instead of on a prescription pad with the doctor's signature. Either she was being spiteful or really doesn't know what she's doing. I called back three times and they wouldn't pick up. We'll see if they can send a fax. Another note, to squeeze as much money as possible from me, the office staff says I won't receive a refund for my lenses which they screwed up 3 or 4 times (I've lost count) and every time I picked up the newest mistake, they rudely commented on how long it had taken me to pick them up. I'm a very busy person and I don't think they need to be snark because my glasses were in a drawer in their office. Doctors Graham and Fasciani are nice, but I'm not just looking for nice in an eye doctor. They need to get control of their office staff and not try to rip their customers off. I know most of their clientele must be wealthy, but I really don't have the time, money, or patience to be treated the way I have been at Del Mar Optometric. read more

I received a call on a Friday confirming my appointment for the following Monday. On Sunday afternoon I received a call canceling my appointment and asking me to call on Monday to reschedule. No one picked up the phone at their office on Monday. I have never seen a doctor there, so can't speak to their services, but from a customer service standpoint I consider this to be unprofessional. read more

Dr. Fasciani is very knowledgeable, thorough, and quick! The whole procedure is very smooth and very little waiting time. I finally understood what astigmatism is because he explained in detail. Also, on a few occasions I've ran out of contacts and needed them ASAP (I had a snowboarding trip - cannot wear glasses & goggles together!), and they were really nice and gave me a pair to wear as I waited for my contacts to ship (2-3 days). I've been seeing Dr. Graham for probably 12-13 years and have recommended him without reservation to a number of friends. He's absolutely dogged about getting the prescription right (in my case usually contact lenses) and explains absolutely everything in a way that's clear without ever being patronizing. (Unlike many physicians.) He stays up on all the latest research and products, and I have complete faith in his knowledge and advice. On the rare occasions I've needed a glasses prescription, Jeannie has been wonderful about helping me choose flattering frames and adjusting them so they're right. Awesome experience. Yesterday I got diagnosed with a corneal ulcer. Can't wear contacts for 10 days and lost my glasses a couple months back. Needed glasses pronto for vacation. Called a billion places and the quickest turnaround was 4 days. So I called Optician (Brian I believe was his name) from Del Mar Optometric and told him my situation. Showed up and used his expert opinion to pick out some awesome frames in like 10 minutes. And because they have their own lab, he literally had a 20 minute turnaround time on the glasses. This was my first visit at this business and it was as good as it gets. They were able to fit my son and I in for an appointment quickly, were very friendly and checked my vision insurance for me to determine what coverage we had. The entire office helped me pick out frames that were both comfortable and looked good.
