One of the best local recommendations I've received since coming to Pocatello. Several people mentioned Del Monte Meats, so before the 4th of July I stopped in looking for hot dogs. Simple enough, right? Wrong. I quickly learned that buying wieners from a real butcher is apparently a more sophisticated process than I had anticipated. Instead of getting the usual "they're over there" treatment, the guy behind the counter patiently walked me through the different house-made options, explained what made each one unique, and helped me settle on the Old Fashioned Wieners. Friends, these were not gas-station roller dogs pretending to be food. These were the kind of wieners that make you stop mid-bite and wonder why you've spent years lowering your standards. Perfect snap, great flavor, and somehow they managed to survive being cooked by a guy whose grilling expertise is mostly confidence-based. While I was there, I also picked up a wagyu ribeye. I braced for impact when it came time to pay, but the price was surprisingly reasonable, and the steak was every bit as good as you'd hope. By far the best catering I have ever had. If you are searching for a Business to cater your event look no more. Food is great, you can tell it is made with love and it taste amazing. Every thing I had was perfect. The menu we had was Stake, chicken, cheesy potatoes,(amazing) mac and cheese, salad, rolls and cobbler!!! We had a crowd of 300+ and there was plenty. Do not have them caterer for you unless you want food poisoning... oh or if you have a degrading and humiliation kink because not only is the food dryed out rubbery and toxic as stated in other reviews the owner is a hot headed and rude with out cause I don't know if his wife left him he had a bad childhood or what but he has a chip on his shoulder and im he will see to it that it's the entire world's problem... this company peddles sub par sludge and acts like that gives them the right to treat people like trash and feed it to them all at the same time... absolutely 0 customer service spam that sick jello meat in a van has more original flavor then this crusty expired slop and the explosive anger of the owner tops this establishment of as a truly unique dineing experience but if you want the same services better tastes at lower prices and probably a hell of a lot better treatment I highly recommend you check out your local soup kitchen read more

If only I could let me dog write this review.. I often drive though Pocatello on my way to my parents home in eastern Idaho, and stop here to get a gigantic bag of dog bones. They are the greatest dog bones my dog and his friends have ever known. Many deliriously happy hours have been spent lollygagging in the yard, licking marrow out of the freshest, biggest bones we have ever seen. Great smoked turkey best I've ever had. we pre ordered and pre paid and when we picked it up thay had no proof we had allready paid. We had to drive back to the house and come back the next day with our receipt. This is not a fancy meat market this is a working butcher shop it smells of meat funk. From my experience this is normal don't let it turn you off. If I ever return to Idaho I would definitely buy from this place again. read more

A complete joke. I called ahead an hour and half early to have them slice 6 lbs of top sirloin thin, so I can make beef jerky. The man I spoke with over the phone was friendly and assured me they would have it ready for me to pick up at 3 pm, in an hour and a half. My schedule was tight because I had to be to work shortly after I picked up my meat. I live on the other side of town and drove 10-15 minutes to pick it up. I walked into the store and there were 6 or 7 other customers in there. 1 employee up at the counter ringing up orders and 3 in the back slicing meat. One appeared to be the manager or owner. He asked me how he could help, so I told him I called in an order around 1:30 and told him my name. He told he would be right back. It took a few minutes, but he comes back with a slab of sirloin and asks me how much I need. I told him I called in an order and gave notice so I could pick it up, and the man on the phone told me he would have it ready. His response was, "We've been slammed," and provided no apology to me. What shocked me even more is he tossed the slab of sirloin onto the slicer and asked me how thin I wanted the cuts. I told him they need to be near paper thin because I am making jerky. He makes a slice and holds it up for me to see. "Is this what you need?" as he displays a half inch thick slice of sirloin. "No, I need the slices very thin, its for jerky." I reminded him, a little annoyed. Any butcher shop should know what I'm talking about, come on. He then proceeded to make another slice, this time thinner. "How about this?" as he holds up a thinner slice of sirloin but still very far from what I need. "No, that won't do." I replied. He told me if he cuts the meat any thinner, it will come apart. I told him thats fine, as I need thin slices and don't need them to be huge, just decent sized. He then told me what he cut me is as good as its going to get, so I probably won't want it. I was amazed, in other words he basically told me, sorry you're not getting what you're asking for. He didn't even attempt to try and slice it any thinner. I am a graduate of culinary school and have cut raw meats thin many times. What Del Monte showed me today is that they don't keep their word, make excuses, and will not do what the customer needs. I will be posting this review many places and I know many people in the hospitality business. I will never recommend Del Monte to anyone. read more

Del Monte Meats is friendly, helpful, and usually has exactly what I am looking for when I need a special cut of meat. I've been able to pick up whole pork bellies for making homemade bacon, nice pork shoulder and fatback for grinding and stuffing sausages, frozen whole duck, and smoked dog bones that drive my Boston Terrier bonkers. Their extra-lean ground beef is better than supermarket beef, and the prices are reasonable. read more

so i called in an order for a 6 rib prime rib roast for Christmas. when i went to pick it up they had some how misplaced my order for the roast. the guy that was helping me apologized so many times and immediately cut my prime and offered to season it for me, as well as offered to cut it off the bone if i needed it. the service was so friendly and amazing i will only go to this shop for my custom meat orders from now on. they also sell amazing dog treats from their bones and the whole place smells like smoking meats. i left with my mouth watering. my 148 dollar almost full knuckle of prime will be treated with the respect it deserves thanks guys i will see you soon! read more
